Avatar f tn t determine your carbs by the number of calories. You have to determine how many carbs are in each serving of the individual foods you eat, as listed on the package/container. For instance a serving of bread might have 12 grams of carbs listed on the package. For help with the bar code issue, try asking your question in the Improve MedHelp Suggestions forum. The mods there should be able to help you. You can access that forum via the following link: http://www.medhelp.

Avatar m tn Second answer is your are made from the same minerals you find in the earth because your are the most evolved form of creature on earth and therefore you need everything it haves to offer so that means at least 16 minerals are essential and you are omnivore as a result of evolution which means you get your proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins and minerals from both meat and vegetables. Avatar f tn milk, fruit, fruit juice) can also cause blood sugar to rise (so serving sizes and moderation are important). With fruit it’s important to eat them with other foods to slow the absorption of fructose (fruit sugar). I'm NOT saying that these foods aren't allowed. What I AM saying is that you need to use care and follow the guidelines for diabetics. Avoid tropical fruits such as pineapples, mangoes, guava for they contain high amounts of fructose.
Business man2 Delete as many carbohydrates from your life as you possibly can. Replace them with nuts and other proteins and healthy fats. Remember...... One you've reached Type II status, you will always be a diabetic. There is no cure. But you can be a controlled diabetic, and with a little work and sacrifice achieve near normal blood tests.
1090423 tn?1286287650 I also found that not eating breads, pasta, alot of cereals, etc., also helped to keep my levels down. (Carbohydrates are a no-no, if your levels are too high.) You can eat them in very small amounts, but you have to be careful how much you consume in one day. I'm sure you already know all of this. You CAN live an active and healthy life, it just takes discipline, when you have diabetes. Please let a doctor know about your rib pain. I wish you the very best.
7894272 tn?1395206727 Although carbs have a high calorie content , when these are cut out it there for results in a larger proportion of your energy being derived from fats which in the long term could have implications to health and increase levels of LDL cholesterol. I personally would advise to just be more selective with carbohydrates choosing those that are complex and slower to digest. This will result in a more sustained level of energy and prolong satiety .
256553 tn?1258883918 Thank-you for posting your question as I think many people misunderstand the low carbohydrate dieting. First off, Carbohydrates are our immediate energy and so without it you will probably feel like you are constantly "hitting the wall" and leaving your body in fatigue, dehydration (which gives the illusion of weight loss), energy loss, and excessive protein breakdown with a buildup of ketones in the body. Protein is NOT used for energy it is the building blocks of the body ie.
Avatar n tn The problem with cats is that cats are very difficult to medicate with herbs, supplements, and holistic chemotherapy agents, since the products are not very palatable. Also, cats with cancer tend to have poor appetites, or are totally anorexia. Many of the supplements must utilized under the care of a veterinarian, however I will list all as follows: (Most are available online) www.polymva.
Avatar n tn Some months ago, I started a specialized diet; it contains relatively few carbohydrates, and my persistent heartburn went away. I didn't think much of it until I discovered the writings of Dr.
Avatar f tn My friend was just diagnosed with IDDM. He is 48 years old. I can't seem to find the RDA for carbs for an insulin dependent diabetic. Can anyone help me with this answer?
10221785 tn?1410990458 3 small meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and 3 snacks in between (one of those being a bed time snack) I started looking at the sugar content too but the dietician told me what matter is the total carbohydrates!!! For snack time you do not want to exceed over 30 grams of carbohydrates. Stay away from cereal, milk, and fruit in the morning. Eat lots of veggies and proteins. No juice, pop, sugary coffees, etc...
Avatar f tn I love milk but recently I came to know that now a days hen, cows and buffaloes are being injected with hormones and consuming their milk will worsen the condition of hormonal imbalance in PCOS. Tbd This does not mean that all carbohydrates must be avoided but it is necessary to limit carbohydrate intake and to choose what are called complex carbohydrates in place of simple carbohydrates. The goal for a type 2 diabetic is to maintain their blood glucose within a safe range. Complex carbohydrates are broken down at a slower rate than simple carbohydrates meaning that the glucose is released into the bloodstream at a slower rate allowing more time for the uptake of glucose.
979080 tn?1323433639 there are good carbs ( complex ) and there are bad carbs ( simple ) as there are good fats and bad fats and good cholesterol bad cholesterol - good carbs fats and cholesterol help fight the bad ones - we need a certain amount of complex carbs good fat and good cholesterol daily - triglycerides are formed from carbos + fats - triglycerides when combined with high levels of ldl ( bad ) cholesterol are the major cause of heart and artery disease
Avatar m tn many beers are made from wheat, barley, corn, or rice...typically high in carbohydrates. Wine is often made from grapes or other fruits that are then fermented to produce alcohol) In short- alcohol does have carbohydrates, but the amount of carbs varies a good bit between various types of drinks. As for where calories come from... You can find products that have zero carbohydrates, but are still pretty high in calories. A calorie is actually a measure of energy.
206807 tn?1331936184 v=u1N6QfuIh0g (NaturalNews) If you think meatless, genetically-modified (GM) soy food products are a poor alternative to real meat, wait until you see the latest in vegetarian meat replacement technology. According to a recent Inhabitat report, Japanese researcher Mitsuyuki Ikeda has developed a new kind of meatless burger made from soy, steak sauce essence, and -- brace yourself -- protein matter extracted from human excrement.
Avatar f tn I read that carbohydrates are the main source of energy, so it is important to eat some amount of carbohydrates daily so the body is able to function. There are different types of carbohydrates. For example breads, pasta, potatoes and rice and then there are vegetables and fruits. Can I obtain my carbohydrate intake just by eating (vegetables and fruits), or is it important that I also eat (breads, pasta, potatoes and rice in small quantities)?.
Avatar m tn However, if the DNA is damaged and too many of the repair systems, there is no hope for repair so it will die. If cells die, they are replaced with new ones, but not with all parts of the body, which unfortunately includes the Heart. I have never understood why nature would give us such an important organ, without the ability to generate new cells. So, if your damage is referring to dead cells (necrotic) then nothing will cause regeneration in that area.
Avatar f tn Did this person tell you to cut all carbs, or just simple carbs? Vegetables are carbs. Fruit are carbs. Whole grains are carbs. Beans are a combination of protein and carbs. I think what most would advise is to avoid white flour, bagels, sweets, anything that turns to sugar quickly in your system. That's why you're craving sugar -- carbs are necessary for energy, and sugar is quick energy but also stores as fat if not burned immediately. Same with processed carbs.
973741 tn?1342342773 Foods that are high in sugar and refined carbohydrates can raise cholesterol levels. Limit your intake of sugary drinks, sweets, and processed foods that are high in sugar and refined carbohydrates.
5536886 tn?1455827346 These are not new findings, it has been widely known that HDL particles created with Niacin are larger, less dense particles that do not bind with LDL as well as naturally created HDL particles. The best way to create natural HDL is still with exercise.
1266263 tn?1270153368 Fruit with vitamin C and anything with very lean proteins have the potential for energy. B vitamins increase energy. No food has 'super' energy like caffeinated beverages or energy drinks if that what your thinking.
Avatar n tn Remember balancing the carbohydrates and protein is the key and you would required carbohydrates for continuous energy and also for instant day to day work so decrease taking simple carbohydrates as in sugars and try to consume them in fruits and complex fiber rich carbohydrates. Proteins you can increase a little by taking a glass of toned milk with your regular protein diet. With more of intense muscle building you need to take supplements as advised by your trainer.
Avatar f tn In addition to providing calories, carbohydrates provide your body with energy. Not all carbohydrates are beneficial, and you should limit your sugar intake. Limit added sugars to between 6 and 10 percent of your total calorie intake. All this being said try the following if your doctor says it's OK! Protein bars are also a good choice for a general weight gain snack. look for one that has at least 3 grams of fiber and less than 12 grams of sugar.
649848 tn?1534633700 they will find other things to get addicted to if they stop drinking, maybe another way to put that is that we have pits and gaps (or craters) in our personal needs that we fill with whatever we stumble across to fill them with (excessive shopping and excessive exercising are sometimes mentioned in this connection). But I do think it's been studied often enough to safely say there is a biological element to the addiction to alcohol.
