So basically, this is what I got from it- fresh vegtables, fresh fruits, lean meats, most nuts, NO LACTOSE, NO SUGAR (except in fruits and honey), and NO STARCHES. Is this about right? Also, what is the policy on yogurt and coconut milk?

Avatar m tn But whenever i check the blood glucose levels with the glucometer, i find that the fasting values are not within the range of normal values viz 110 for fasting. but the post lunch levels always within the normal range of viz 140.The random levels always varies from 125 to 150. Avatar f tn re trying to build muscle, protein is better for post workout, but some fruits are very high in antioxidants that help to control the lactic acid and other oxidative byproducts of exercise. Apples are supposed to be good for this, for example. Berries are great sources of antioxidants.
Avatar f tn Maybe you are trying too hard, have you tried the flavored milk, choc/ strawberry /banana and it wont hurt him to leave milk alone for a while, at 3 year old I am assuming he eats fruits and veg and protein , children like pasta , rice, beans,give him plenty of fresh water and some juice.Sometimes we worry more than we have to about children eating, if we make more of it more it becomes . So back off let him eat his food and in a very short time he will drink milk again .

High carb diets, especially with sugars, tend to make us sluggish and hungry very shortly after eating. Try eating more meats, dairy products, fresh fruits & vegetables and drink plenty of water.

I will like to state here that my favorite kind of meals are carbs, and i only managed to hid to the doctors advise of taking vegetables and fruits for about 1-2 weeks after the result.I recently noticed that i urinate frequently at night and that has brought fear and concern again to my sugar levels.

Business woman1 Also the diet should contain more of green leafy vegetables, fruits and protein and less of spaghetti, potato etc. I suggest you eat frequent small meals and stop counting calories. It is best to eat lots of fruits and non-starchy green veggies, go slow on fats, eat carbohydrates in moderation and increase your protein intake (lean cuts, whites of eggs etc). Drink plenty of water and non fattening fluids such as clear soups etc.
Avatar n tn This is logical for the type 2 diabetic, for eating a fairly low-carbohydrate diet would not require the production of as much insulin by the already stressed pancreas. However, if insulin resistance is the main problem for a type 2 diabetic, then lowering the carb count may not really be the solution, and medications to help the insulin-resistance problem still may be needed.
Avatar m tn Please also exercise daily, normalise weight if you are overweight, and follow a low carbohydrate diet avoiding sweets of all kinds and limiting grains and fruits. Non-starchy veges are ok. Please see your dr for urgent followup.
