This is logical for the type 2 diabetic, for eating a fairly low-carbohydrate diet would not require the production of as much insulin by the already stressed pancreas.

Stress can cause glucose levels to rise, but if they stay elevated (you wrote that they were elevated at his last checkup also, so they appear to have been elevated for a long enough period of time to cause concern), they can cause damage to his body. I would call his doctor and schedule a follow-up appointment to find out what the doctor wishes to do to help him achieve good health in this area.

All the information I have read said that anything below 110 is normal . I am now on a diabetic diet for gestational diabetes. Why is it important to be 90 or below before getting pregnant? Could this cause infertility? Since I've been on the diet my fasting glucose ranges from 91 to 97.

I have written in your previous postings that you need to use Google or Yahoo to search on complex vs simple carbs. Please include a search on the Glycemic Index reference food groups. Educate yourself about the foods available to you, what you put into your body and how these foods will affect your life. All carbohydrates are broken down to glucose to produce the energy.
Avatar f tn All diabetics are a bit different in what we can eat and still keep our blood glucose in target range. In general most of us find we need to eliminate sugar and greatly reduce carbohydrate intake especially things like white bread, cereal rice and pasta. The best way to know what works for YOU is to try a certain food and test your blood glucose two hours after eating and make sure you stay within target.
Avatar f tn It doesn't really matter what you call it. Once your body starts being unable to effectivelly lower the blood glucose by itself, there's no going back. You can, however, delay the full-blown Type 2 by considerably reducing the amount af carbohydrate intake, and by immediatelly burning the ones that you do eat with excercise or heavy work.

But whenever i check the blood glucose levels with the glucometer, i find that the fasting values are not within the range of normal values viz 110 for fasting. but the post lunch levels always within the normal range of viz 140.The random levels always varies from 125 to 150. Kindly advise me whether i am diabetic and do i have to take medicine for diabetes?
1925135 tn?1323307656 If you load your diet with proteins and fats, and minimize your carbohydrate intake, you can possibly bring your blood glucose levels back into a near normal range. This is very dependent on how much insulin you're still able to produce. But remember, there's no cure, only control. You can only reverse the symptoms. Once you've been labeled, you've got it for life. Good luck.....

He is not very tall (5' 6'') so I guess he is about 2 stone over weight. He does not eat very much but unfortunately drinks too much. For a long time I have suspected he is 'glucose intolerant', in that even when he has carbohydrate available he goes shaky and experiences 'low' blood sugar symptoms.

Some whey protein products have added carbohydrate sugars by way of starches such as dextrin & maltodextrin, and the list goes on. With that in mind carefully read and understand each ingredient listed on the label. I'm not saying you can or cannot take whey protein, just that if you decide to add whey to your diet test your glucose often.
