Avatar m tn m sedentary and for health reasons it is difficult for me to get much exercise, I do walk two or three times a week for about 20-25 minutes. How can I be gaining weight? Is it possible that the increase in protein is causing muscle gain? I just don't get it and any thoughts, suggestions or help would be appreciated.
594189 tn?1386916607 How to curb cravings Women who blame themselves for their food cravings only worsen their mood and increase their need for serotonin. That’s when a pattern of emotional eating can develop. Remember, there are biological causes of sugar cravings, and your carbohydrate craving is rarely just a behavioral problem. The root problem is more likely inadequate nutrition. How to break this vicious cycle? To reduce food cravings, the body needs real support — and lots of it.
Avatar m tn doc With CK/CPK values at the exceedingly high level of 23,000, you should strongly consider having the athletes evaluated by a medical provider--at levels this elevated, there is significant concern for injury to the kidneys. ~•~ Dr. Parks This answer is not intended as and does not substitute for medical advice. 1266263 tn?1270153368 When you deplete your glycogen stores, as can happen during repeated days of hard training and a low carbohydrate diet, you feel overwhelmingly exhausted. Eating high carbohydrate foods like cereal, pancakes, bread, fruit, vegetables, potato, pasta on a daily basis can help you train harder and compete better. All the best.
Avatar f tn This is something to be careful with. You have to know how to use it, and it's really only for serious athletes particularly bodybuilders. By itself it's not for gaining weight, it's to help build muscle in people doing intense workouts. Too much creatine in the system isn't good for you, so if you don't know what you're doing and you're not working out fairly hard, I don't see why you'd want to take it.
Avatar m tn Try feeding him food of high nutritional value so he gets as much protein and calories as he needs. For example, having a protein source each meal --- meat / fish or cheese or yogurt; with a carbohydrate --- bread, pasta, rice, cereal; and a fat ---- pat of butter or mayonnaise if you made a sandwich. Good protein sources are meats, chicken, fish, beef, pork, etc.; and dairy products such as milk, yogurt, cheeses, pudding, and ice cream. It is good he eats pork and chicken.
Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?

Avatar n tn Have you told the cardiologist that you are an endurance athlete? this will give him a lot of clues. For example, many athletes have resting heart rates of less than 60, it has been known for some to be 25. As your heart evolves for your activity, it simply becomes much more efficient at its job, so it doesn't need to pump as often. It is also very common for an ekg in an athlete to look different from an average persons.

Avatar n tn Thanks for the clarification. Tell you mom to stay away from fad diets and gimmick ads on diabetes. They just don't work. If it sounds too good to be true it's a scam, and hoo-boy there lots of them on the Internet and magazines. What does work is proper nutrition, daily [3-4 times a week] exercise like you're late for a departing plane, and maintaining proper weight. She just needs to work on the latter two. I wish her good health.
