Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
Avatar f tn My partner has been trying to lose weight forever!. When I met him he was about 76 Kilos, 7 years later he is now 82. He is not very tall (5' 6'') so I guess he is about 2 stone over weight. He does not eat very much but unfortunately drinks too much. For a long time I have suspected he is 'glucose intolerant', in that even when he has carbohydrate available he goes shaky and experiences 'low' blood sugar symptoms.
Avatar f tn It could also be gluten intolerance or carbohydrate intolerance or reduced stomach acid. Or possibly your gallbladder. A few more things to consider. Good luck finding answers.
Avatar m tn Due to stomach problems, I have decided to try a Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Has anyone experienced relief on this diet? So basically, this is what I got from it- fresh vegtables, fresh fruits, lean meats, most nuts, NO LACTOSE, NO SUGAR (except in fruits and honey), and NO STARCHES. Is this about right? Also, what is the policy on yogurt and coconut milk?
Avatar f tn I have also developed an intolerance to lactose and gluten these past two years. I have eliminated all lactose and gluten from my diet. Lactose intake makes my lymph nodes swell. My question is: Syntroid does contain lactose, and it seems that just that little amount prevents me from stopping the swelling, and feeling better. Could I switch to another thyroid medication? Should I continue on Syntroid, and take some digestive enzymes for lactose at the same time?
Avatar f tn m not sure if I need to see an Allergist, ENT, Gastroenterologist, Internist or who because about an hour after eating a carbohydrate I seem to get inflammation and swelling on my right side only...starting in my right sinuses, behind right eye, right ear, right throat, right lymph gland in neck, and going in a straight line down the right side of my chest and down to my right kidney. If I only eat meat, salads, and non starchy vegetables, water and plain tea, I don't have any symptoms.
Avatar f tn You might also benefit from their urine Organic Acids Test, which would show you how well your protein, carbohydrate and fatty acid metabolism is working. It would be up to your doctor (or nutritionist) to know which test would be most beneficial to find the true cause of your weight loss, pain etc. Finding the right practitioner is crucial. In the meantime, try a strong probiotic supplement, and something soothing to the gut, such as Slippery Elm ( from health food store ).
Avatar f tn Could this be an issue since oatmeal is a trigger of too much fiber? Something else to look into is carbohydrate intolerance. https://www.merckmanuals.com/professional/gastrointestinal-disorders/malabsorption-syndromes/carbohydrate-intolerance. However, that would most likely would only be the situation if you have a long standing history since childhood of gi issues. People also can develop an oat allergy as an adult. https://www.healthline.
Avatar n tn You could also have some kind of carbohydrate intolerance to the sweeteners used in cola drinks. About quinine being present in colas, I am not sure. But yes, quinine if present can cause allergic reactions. You should consult an allergy specialist and get yourself tested for allergies to ingredients of colas so that you can avoid them in other food stuffs too. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.

Avatar f tn ve also read that PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) can mimic high cortisol weight gain. PCOS is associated with carbohydrate intolerance. It's possible the South Beach diet isn't restrictive enough for her. She might need Atkins. But I wouldn't do that diet unless the doctor ok's it because of her type 1 diabetes. Gluten, which is in wheat, barley, rye and possibly oats, might be something for her to eliminate.
Avatar n tn Considering that diabetes is a condition of problem with carbohydrate metabolism, then this recommendation is concerning. Such high levels of carbs can cause very high blood sugars, and when combined with medications, can also see plunging and dangerous lows. The new approach is for people with diabetes to restrict carbohydrates. Followers of Dr. Richard Berstein generally target < 35 g/day.
Avatar m tn By any chance did you get a gastric bypass—if yes, then this could be due to Dumping’s syndrome. Other than this carbohydrate intolerance and insulin secreting tumors of the pancreas could be a problem. Secondary lactase enzyme deficiency due to celiac sprue, tropical sprue or other intestinal infections too could be a cause.
Avatar f tn I would recommend that you check your blood sugar when you feel the tremor start. Additionally, if you are gluten free because of an intolerance or an allergy that is a diet change that you will have to incorporate into your lifestyle. Speaking with a dietician or nutritionist who specializes in gluten free could be helpful in finding alternatives. If you are gluten free as a choice, keep in mind that gluten free does not equal healthy.
1281603 tn?1283798699 http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Multiple-Sclerosis/Heat-Intolerance/show/426?cid=36 I can't tell you for sure if you have MS or not (I'm in the same boat. I'm a limolander.), but it sounds to me like things are adding up to something neurological, and from what I've read numerous punctate T2/FLAIR hyperintensities in the subcortical regions of both cerebral hemispheres can also occur in MS as well.
Avatar n tn m still searching for answers to my problems with exercise intolerance; I have a PM/ICD and sometimes exertion or exercise knocks me out (literally) and other times I have no problems. Pvc's during exercise normally aren't a problem in a healthy structurally normal system - it's best to bring this up to your dr and make sure in your case it's ok. Can you call and get an appt earlier?
Avatar f tn People develop allergies to things that they have never had any problem with. Just don't cut peppers.
