Avatar m tn Through trial and error I determined that I can only eat protein and green vegetables. When eat any other foods I get an extreme allergic eye reaction of redness, pus discharge at night, crusting, itchiness, inflammation, sensitivity to light. This reaction happens even when I eat something as simple as a carrot. My symptoms also include depression, sleeplessness, and being exhausted, even while I stick to a strict diet of eating no carbs.

Avatar m tn You can find products that have zero carbohydrates, but are still pretty high in calories. A calorie is actually a measure of energy. Basically, everything you eat requires a certain amount of energy to "burn" it completely. Different types of ingredients take more energy for your body to process completely. Avatar f tn A healthy diet, moderate exercise and pharmaceutical grade nutritional supplements to help break the cycle of carbohydrate cravings. They recommend 60 to 70 grams of protein a day. For fats, saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, with an emphasis on polyunsaturated, to help you feel satisfied and less likely to overeat. Avoid oxidized or rancid fats, trans-fatty acids and hydrogenated fats. Eat complex carbohydrates, which help to moderate blood sugar swings and provide fiber.
Avatar n tn If weight conscious and diabetic start by lowering your carbohydrate intake. Eat organic whole grains, vegetables, fish and poultry, and fruits, and lean beef and pork. Avoid foods made with white flour; breads, crackers, pasta and white foods like rice and potatoes as these quickly turn into sugar after eating. Avatar n tn I think you're making a common mistake in thinking about food, which is that protein is good and carbs are bad. This isn't at all true -- the majority of your diet should be carbs. Vegetables, for example, the core of a healthy diet, are carbs, whereas beef is very high in fat on purpose and hard to digest despite being high in protein and so is never weight-loss food.
Avatar n tn Is it with certain foods, such as high carbohydrates foods or any type of food that she gets tired?
Avatar m tn Hi, You can stick to protein-rich foods and eliminate nearly all fat and limit carbohydrate intake to lose weight. When your body finds that it does not have any carbohydrate easily available to it, it will start breaking down the fat to get energy and ends up burning more calories in the process. You should be careful to include carbohydrates in your diet so that you do not end up developing a carbohydrate craving resulting in binge eating.

1211508 tn?1343079605 Are you eating a large amount of carbohydrate foods in these periods or your intake of food is the same during and after the 'sleep spells'? High amounts of carbohydrate foods at one meal tend to get people tried due to the increase/drop of the sugar levels in the blood. Maybe look at periods of stress in your job due to certain timetables, such as an accountant very busy at the beginning of a year due to income tax time, etc. Our bodies get fatigued from high amounts of stress.
7628588 tn?1392763151 Help use up those latent carbs out of your system, and become a fat burning engine. Eat eggs, cheese, nuts, and meat. I eat about 30 pounds of shelled nuts annually; peanuts, walnuts, and lots and lots of almonds. Initially, it hurts a little. Your initially stomach aches from carbohydrate hunger. You will urinate copiously as your body wrings out every gram of carbohydrate it can use. But then you'll begin to feel better, more alert, the carbohydrate haze is gone.
Avatar f tn If a certain food spikes you up say over 140 you might try a lesser amount of that food or just eliminate it from your diet. It is not really possible to make a list of foods to eat and not eat because we are all different. But a diet of protein and lots of fresh vegies, small amounts of fruit and small amounts of carbs should do best.
Avatar f tn You may be better off using a faster acting insulin to better cover the foods you eat. Ask your Dr. about other fast acting insulin such as Humalog. Also you could cut back the amount of carbohydrates (particularly grains; pasta, rice, potato, bread, fruit, added sugars) that you eat to further help stabilise blood sugars.
Avatar f tn Food cravings can be caused by psychological repetition of feeling good when you eat. Sugar, for example, or caffeine-containing foods and beverages. You can also develop psychological cravings for things that aren't food, such as sex, that make the hurt temporarily go away. As for serotonin, that's a very difficult thing to get a handle on. Much of the research on this is from Eli Lilly when they introduced Prozac, and so is of questionable reliability.
1802952 tn?1315981161 I'm trying to find a good diet for me. The thing is I had my gallbladder taking out and I can't eat a lot of foods like I could before. Is there a good diet plan for someone who had their gallbladder taking out? Also, I'm a picky eater..LOL! I think that's why I do so bad on diets.
Avatar n tn This is logical for the type 2 diabetic, for eating a fairly low-carbohydrate diet would not require the production of as much insulin by the already stressed pancreas. However, if insulin resistance is the main problem for a type 2 diabetic, then lowering the carb count may not really be the solution, and medications to help the insulin-resistance problem still may be needed.
Avatar n tn Instead eat whole grains, vegies, fish, poultry and lean meats. Avoid high carbohydrate foods as these turn quickly into sugar after eating. Read all nutrition labels carefully. Sugars listed under carbohydrates are presented in grams. Every 7 grams equals a heaping Tablespoon of sugar. 2. Maintain normal body. If overweight lose the excess fat. 3. Exercise 30-60 minutes daily. Walking is a good way to lower blood sugars.

232342 tn?1192696720 The main thing that type 2 diabetics need to watch in their diets is the carbohydrate counts for the foods they eat. All foods in the United States have nutritional labels on them, and the carbohydrates in that food are listed in this label with a number. A slice of bread or one serving of rice (about a half cup of cooked rice) both contain about the same amount of carbohydrates, which means that the pancreas has to produce the same amount of insulin in order to metabolize these foods.
Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
Avatar m tn Due to stomach problems, I have decided to try a Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Has anyone experienced relief on this diet? So basically, this is what I got from it- fresh vegtables, fresh fruits, lean meats, most nuts, NO LACTOSE, NO SUGAR (except in fruits and honey), and NO STARCHES. Is this about right? Also, what is the policy on yogurt and coconut milk?
