Avatar n tn the thing that helped me the most was something called the specific carbohydrate diet, which is quite strict. i was on it for 5 months -- big improvement in digestion. however, i lost too much weight (i'm quite thin) and it was very incovenient for me. if you can commmit yourself to it, i would highly recommend it. also, water fasting has helped me in the past temporarily. i've done it from one day to about 4 days.
Avatar n tn Does this also mean it restricts the absorption of the antioxidants and minerals in the food, meaning it will be excreted before these can be absorbed? In other words, does the use of apple cider vinegar, according to your analysis, promote cancer and autoimmune disorders by preventing the absorption of necessary protective nutrients? Remember, all vegetables are carbohydrates, and carbohydrate foods are the main sources of most of our nutrients other than fat and protein.
Avatar f tn I have the worst taste in my mouth. First, it started off as a metallic/copperish taste. Now, it's progressing to a soapy taste. No matter how much I drink, brush my teeth, or rinse my mouth out with soap, I still have this awful taste. I went to the dentist today and he said everything was fine... no gingivitis, irritation, etc. Nothing. The only thing I can think of is I took an antibiotic (ciprofloxacin) for a sinus infection weeks ago. Other than that, nothing.
594189 tn?1386916607 Even worse, insulin resistance leads directly to obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Many experts believe it is the root cause of the epidemic of those diseases in America today. And a low-fat diet makes it far more likely you will suffer from this condition. Millions of American women are now trying the Atkins Diet or the South Beach Diet.
Avatar f tn Even if my sugar is good before bed and I take my lantus it is always high in the morning. Any reason and any advise?
1524662 tn?1291421087 Eat 80% fresh vegetables, try to stay away from fruits for now they give the yeast sugar to feed on, try to cut out milk products, wheat products (breads, pasta, etc as these are converted to sugar in the body and give yeasts food) and cut way back on meat. Eat garlic and onion, the sulpher content helps to bring the inner condition of the body more alkaline, beneficial bacteria thrive in conditions that are alkaline and oxygenated.
4238266 tn?1351628230 Also, make sure you get the whole wheat/whole grain version of every carbohydrate you get from the store. For example, instead of getting a white white sliced/loafed bread, opt for the whole wheat one. Whole wheat is packed with fiber, it will make you feel more satisfied and will not make you starve, and will also promote good digestion and elimination process. Also, make sure to have at least 5-10 servings of vegetables and fruits, as they are the best sources of fiber.
Avatar n tn Also, I occasionally get a feeling of numbness around the lips. I am not sure if this is allergy or digestion related. Any help in I dentifying the problem would be appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar n tn and actually produce no insulin of their own (or very little insulin if they do produce any), and so lowering the carbohydrate count in their diets will not solve the problem.
Avatar f tn I have osteoporosis, I have just been put on Calciferal 50 000 - 1x tablet per week. The Pathologist advised that the SSRI could be the cause of the bleeding. In respect of me taking Wellbutrin and Serlife is it specifically related to these to medications? I am now totally confused My goal this year was to get healthy, eat right and maintain my weight and get a job. It seems I am losing here.
Avatar n tn The fats combined with the carbs delay the digestion time. It is good to know this so you can learn to adjust. I find it enough of a problem that I actually rarely eat pizza. The only way to perfect the control would be to do a blood test in the middle of the night and to then adjust with extra insulin. French fries are the other fat-laden carbohydrate that I notice digests equally slowly.
Avatar f tn Can you eat seeds? That would allow you to eat wild rice and buckwheat, for two. They are seeds, in the fruit family, not grains, and are quite low in sugars. And what about fish? The essential fatty acids in wild caught fish would probably help. As for nutritional help in California, that's the center of nutritional help. Probably a million of them. Every actor and actress there has a nutritionist, and it's the center of holistic medicine in the US. Sounds tough.
Avatar m tn ve been having problems with digestion, where I have loose stool every morning, but in the evening I cannot poop even though I feel the need to. During the day I feel gassy and bloated as well (but mostly just gassy). At first I thought it was some kind of a viral infection, but my body temperature is normal and I feel okay otherwise, I don't think viruses are the culprit.
Avatar n tn I agree with lindsp62, I would reccomend buying your own horse feed and placing it in gallon sized ziplock baggies for the stable hands to feed your horse. Corn is high in energy and can cause the horse to become very hot. Not only is it hard for them to digest, but corn really has no nutritional balance to it whatsoever. I would suggest having your horse on a horse feed, Purina is a good brand and makes a wonderful low carbohydrate sweet feed and pellet mixture.
Avatar n tn Sensations can be similar because in both situations the body is not being able to use the carbs that you have eaten. In the case of hypoglycemia this is because you have not eaten enough carbs. In the case of type 2 diabetes, this is because your body is not able to use the insuln it makes to properly convert the carbs you have eaten. The symptoms you describe for type 2 diabetes can all be attributed to hypoglycemia except for the rashes.
Avatar f tn Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
Avatar m tn There are medicines called anti-cholinergics that can reduce bodily secretions, including saliva. In profoundly severe cases, surgery can be done to remove some of the salivary glands in order to decrease saliva production. Your doctor can evaluate what treatment is right for you.
1303110 tn?1273247668 t overdo it. You can take a class in it and learn the movements. But if you exercise too much in general, your MG might flare. After activity, you must give your muscles time to rest. Supposedly asparagus contains steroid-like properties that can strengthen muscles. Also, dark green vegies are good, like spinach, and so are bran and whole grains, because they all have magnesium in them, which lack thereof can weaken muscles.
Avatar n tn I have a white patch inside the mouth (At the left surface of cheek and at the back side of my side teeth,) I have these symptoms Pain(When my side teeths touch it or during eating foods) Burning sensation Discomfort
Avatar m tn I wasn't sure where to post this so I decided to put it here, I have had 2 ulcers on either side of my mouth at the back on the gum for roughly 6 months now. They don't hurt at all but can sometimes be irritating etc. (and I know I probably ought not to, but sometimes pop them, and they either seem to have a white puss like substance come out or just blood). But I was just wondering what is was, is it something to be worried about or will they eventually disappear?
Avatar f tn We have an Ailmentary Canal (and associated organs), essentially a tube starting at the mouth and going completely through to the other end. In a tubular organ, food is moved by a process known as Peristalsis, this is a process where a contraction of the muscles in the tube rhythmically move from a closer point to the mouth to a more distant point, and by doing such move the contents of that particular section further away from the mouth.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have an answer that will help her with constipation and digestion? She has to take a ton of laxatives just to go to the bathroom at all. She eats very little and is a vegan.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Without a complete clinical examination it is difficult to evaluate the correct cause. Cramps in relation to bright red rectal bleeding may be suggestive of a partial colonic obstruction and very rarely suggest cancer .The possibilities that may need to be considered include GI motility issues as seen in IBS, infections, inflammatory bowel diseases, growths/ masses etc. You should seek consultation from a gastroenterologist to consider the possibilities mentioned above.
