973741 tn?1342342773 I'm wondering about this topic. Does counting your carbs help prevent diabetes? An essential thing to do if you are worried about diabetes? What are the best ways to do this?
Avatar f tn When used in larger amounts, as in cooking and baking, these calories and carbohydrate should be accounted for by carbohydrate counting or by using starch/bread exchanges. As an example, one half cup of SPLENDA® Granulated contributes 12 grams of carbohydrates and 11 to 20 grams are counted as one starch exchange. In SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener Packets, sucralose is combined with maltodextrin and dextrose. These ingredients contribute 1 gram of carbohydrate and four calories per packet.
Avatar f tn While it is normal to have a rise in blood sugar level after a meal, excessive rise in blood sugar levels could indicate inappropriate dosage/ timing of injecting the insulin or excessive or inappropriate proportion of carbohydrate in diet. You could start by slightly lowering the carbohydrate and increasing the protein portion of diet. If this does not seem to help, I would suggest consulting your treating endocrinologist for adjustment in dosage/ timing of the insulin. Hope this is helpful.
Avatar m tn if possible , start carbohydrate counting. You may need to buy a basic scale in order to measure raw materials going into your curries and their carbohydrate count. The net has number of sites which can help in calculation. Best of health.

Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
Avatar f tn I didn't start counting kicks and thinking about constant movement until around 26 weeks. Try putting your hand on your belly to feel movement, as it gets less intense movement sometimes this is the only way to feel it. If you instinctively think something is wrong, call the dr to see if you can do some heartbeat monitoring in the office.
Avatar n tn Parents of munchkins with diabetes also appreciate ingredients lists and recipe cards with the menu on it. Many folks do "carbohydrate counting" and can estimate how many carbos are in any given meal based on the ingredients & serving sizes. YOu don't need to compute all that, but just showing mom or dad the ingredients can go a long way to lessening everyone's concerns. AND, the child can then really enjoy a piece of whatever is served.
Avatar f tn Hiya im 15 weeks and I have been the same the whole way through my pregnancy so far, ive tried everything, little and often, tablets of the doctor all sorts. Ive gone four days now without and I found orange juice helped, fresh orange.. I drink it constantly throughout the day and ive stoped throwing up, I think its because it fills me up as im struggling to keep food down.. ive also stayed away from hot drinks and hot places..
470885 tn?1326329037 I was also worried when had my 19 ultrasound, people sugested orange juice or something sweet. I drunk small bottle of orange juicy and a small piece of chocolote on the way to the doctor and the baby was defenately not shy!!!! Good Luck!!!
Avatar f tn Yup. Totally normal. Their movements don't become regular till like 30ish weeks. If you dont feel him in the next day or two call your dr or midwife. . You can also try drinking orange juice or ice water then laying down.
Avatar f tn You should not be counting kicks at 24 weeks, it is still to early. I believe they say to start at 28 weeks. It is possible baby is just in a position that makes feeling movement harder, like facing into your spine. If you are still feeling movements I honestly wouldn't be that worried. That being said you know your body and this baby best so if you are really worried just call into your OB and ask them, honestly they don't mind.

Avatar n tn Does that website have a listing of foods with CHO's only? It looks like they have alot of stuff including a hefty membership fee. I'm always sorry to see that. What I want is a list that only has carb counts of many many foods. I have a book or two with that but I want it online, ready for me to cut and paste and make it customized for my twin daughters.

Business woman1 I suggest you eat frequent small meals and stop counting calories. It is best to eat lots of fruits and non-starchy green veggies, go slow on fats, eat carbohydrates in moderation and increase your protein intake (lean cuts, whites of eggs etc). Drink plenty of water and non fattening fluids such as clear soups etc. Look for hidden calories in salads and soups and avoid them (eg: cheese, butter, dressings etc). Also, you need to exercise regularly.
760797 tn?1303264540 m trying to figure out what this chart is telling me. Yesterday I had a slight low dip and today my temp was higher. There is an orange vertical line on the temp yesterday.
