Avatar f tn Sucralose is derived from sugar, however, it is not perceived by the body as sugar or as a carbohydrate. In specific studies in people with diabetes, sucralose had no effect on blood sugar levels, carbohydrate metabolism, or the secretion of insulin. Sucralose is not broken down in the body for energy and is excreted unchanged. As with most low calorie sweeteners, SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener also contains common food ingredients, in addition to the sweetener sucralose.

Some people with type 1 diabetes find that a very low carb diet is very helpful for normalizing sugar levels, along with insulin dosing, of course. There is an urgent need for well-designed studies which examine a range of interventions, at various points during follow-up, although there is a promising study currently underway.

Business woman1 Drugs used to treat obesity have a lot of side effect. Hence, they are restricted for those who are morbidly obese. In these people the hazards of being morbidly obese outweigh the hazards of taking the drug. If you want to lose weight, common causes of weight gain like overeating, lack of exercise, diabetes, hypothyroidism have to be ruled out in your case. You must then look for other causes. One is water retention due to low serum protein.

Avatar n tn First, you must realize that there is a huge difference in the treatment of type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes. For the type 2 diabetic, I also have read (from the Atkins people) that their diet is a good way to lower glucose levels. This is logical for the type 2 diabetic, for eating a fairly low-carbohydrate diet would not require the production of as much insulin by the already stressed pancreas.

Avatar f tn Most important is to control and manage your diabetes. Then limit your carbohydrate food intake for weight loss. Use Google to search and understand the difference between 'simple carbs and complex carbs'. Go to the Atkins web site for low carb information and recipes. Click on programs to get started. http://atkins.com/Homepage.aspx Pay careful attention to your breath, your body odor, or urine if any starts to have a fruity sweet smell.

Avatar m tn I have been on insulin for 23 years and lead a near normal life. With diabetes, checking your blood sugars on a regular basis is important. Since you are from India, I would also regularly get blood pressure and cholesterol levels checked because we Indian are prone to metabolic syndrome where blood sugar, lipids and blood pressure are all elevated and leads to a number of problems. Specific diet changes 1. when it comes to rotis, do not sieve the flour. If possible add extra bran.
Avatar f tn You could make an appt. with your regular doctor and they will check your blood sugar for you. Due to the fact that you have the psoriatic arthritis and the PCOS and possible diabetes, I would follow a gluten free (sometimes a cause of psoriasis) and low carb diet (which is recommended for PCOS patients) and see how you feel. And if I were you, I would do my best to avoid medications and insulin for diabetes.
Avatar f tn //www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/09/170913084432.htm This is obviously only going to be the case if a patient undergoes changes that will lead to this outcome. This would include losing weight and maintaining an appropriate BMI, eating a healthy diet that is friendly to diabetes recovery, and exercise. Losing weight and keeping off seems to be a signficant factor for this reversal to happen. Have your numbers fallen in the area of type 2 Diabetes?

1554354 tn?1297172064 Diabetes often goes undiagnosed because many of its symptoms seem so harmless. Often people with type 2 diabetes have no symptoms so they appear normal to others. I don't know Florida laws but in Calif at 19 yo you can see a doctor on your own. If you cannot afford one Google search Free Health Clinics near your town/city. In the meantime you must take care of your body by maintaining normal weight, avoiding sugary and high carbohydrate foods, and do some sort of physical exercise daily.
Avatar n tn The diet, because of its low requirement for insulin, has been recognised by the Swedish government as being suitable for people with type 2 diabetes and as helpful to individuals looking to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight. The recommendation of the low carb, high fat diet is that people eat full fat versions of dairy food in preference to low fat options. The diet does not rule out fatty meats and instead encourages people to leave the fat on rather than removing it.
