5079728 tn?1365549989 t of known) Obviously no more alcohol or any other drugs (even over the counter meds) without approval of your liver specialist before taking them. Anyway, i am a little confused because I stopped taking Tylenol years ago because it came out that it damages your stomach and liver. I already knew that I had hep c so I take aleve or advil when the pain would flares up.
Avatar f tn Since most medication is seen as foreign and therefore toxic by the liver to varying degrees, and since the liver is necessary to metabolize antidepressants, it might wash out some of your medication before it has a chance to be absorbed. That could weaken the benefits you're receiving from it, or even throw you into withdrawal theoretically. I say theoretically because most detox teas are very weak liver cleansers, but there you have it.
Avatar m tn I don't know about medical benefits. It isn't bad for the liver though. You'd have to check the carbohydrate content to see how it would be for sugar diseases.
Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?

Should I be worried about the ultrasound result ? Can the liver return to normal ?
Avatar m tn My queston is if you are taking a workout supplement or just say any supplement and your liver panels come back normal does that mean that the supplement or whatever you are taking is not doing bad for your liver?Or does can it still be doing bad to the liver even if the liver panel's read normal.Anyway let me know.

Lab repeated 1 month later enzymes same as month before, hepaptitis and other liver disease ruled out.. Ultrasound done, and that was fine. Avatar m tn A couple of months ago i ran a blood sugar test and the result had increased from 84mg/dl to 106mg/dl,I was then advised by the doctor to watch my carbohydrate intake and eat healthy. I will like to state here that my favorite kind of meals are carbs, and i only managed to hid to the doctors advise of taking vegetables and fruits for about 1-2 weeks after the result.I recently noticed that i urinate frequently at night and that has brought fear and concern again to my sugar levels.

Avatar n tn His initial bloodwork showed elevated glucose (450), elevated platelets and liver enzymes, and a high WBC. His liver was also enlarged. We started him on Vetsulin and an antibiotic (because of the elevated WBC), and continued his regular diet of Science Diet adult maintenance. His dose of insulin is 8 units BID. It was also mention by my vet that he may also have Cushings, but we did not test for this. Since August, he has developed bilateral cataracts and at this point, he is almost blind.

Avatar m tn Possible New Method for Detecting and Monitoring Liver Disease without Liver Biopsies Scientists working at the Hepatitis B Foundation, in partnership with Drexel University College of Medicine, believe they have discovered a reliable alternative to liver biopsy for the early detection of liver fibrosis and cirrhosis, which afflict more than 5 million Americans.
Avatar n tn did the doctors say whether or not they were going to biopsy the liver to assess liver pathology, or biopsy the liver mass suspected as cancer? I sincerely hope it's the former and not the latter, and the reason is that it's not unusual for cancers to be further spread in the liver by 'seeding' -- the needle from the biopsy spreading cancerous cells.
Avatar n tn Eating fatty foods will not cause a fatty liver. Alcohol causes fatty liver disease. Fructose causes non alcoholic fatty liver disease. Ethanol (alcohol) is a carbohydrate. Fructose is a carbohydrate. Sugar is half glucose/half fructose. Fibre limits the amount of fructose to the liver so you won't develop a fatty liver eating fruit. The American Heart Association recommends limiting the amount of added sugar per day to a max of 6 teaspoons for women and 9 teaspoons for men.
Avatar n tn I do know that the body does produce glucagons and stores it in the liver until it is needed. Glucagon is an important hormone involved in carbohydrate metabolism. Produced by the pancreas, it is released when the glucose level in the blood is low (hypoglycemia), causing the liver to convert stored glycogen into glucose and release it into the bloodstream.

Avatar m tn the effect of fatty liver on hbsag clearance is minimum, the effect is due to abnormal alt because of the liver damage made by fatty liver, this of course makes cccdna unstable because there is more cell turnover but one thing is i have fatty liver and by chance i clear faster another thing is making fatty liver....it is like taking toxic drugs to rise alt so there is more liver damage, more cell turn over and by chance i may clear faster....
Avatar f tn You should see a hepatologist (liver specialist) which are found at liver transplant centers to find out the cause of the swelling and the extent of your liver disease (stage). Edema (swelling) of the lower legs, ankles and feet can be a complications of cirrhosis (scaring) of the liver which can be caused by decades of being chronically infected with hepatitis C as well as other serious illnesses. You should NEVER self medicate. Edema is a symptom of a underlying disease not a disease itself.
Avatar f tn The liver is so amazing that you can receive a transplant of half a liver and it can grow into a whole liver. Incredible.
Avatar f tn It seems if he does not eat anything for long period, such as over night, his blood sugar spikes. I am thinking his liver is trying to help out where it is not actually, by puttinng glucose in system? I am guessing here. Any input welcome. I am now trying a small bowl of oatmeal before bedtime to see if that helps. TO early to tell yet.
Avatar m tn Due to stomach problems, I have decided to try a Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Has anyone experienced relief on this diet? So basically, this is what I got from it- fresh vegtables, fresh fruits, lean meats, most nuts, NO LACTOSE, NO SUGAR (except in fruits and honey), and NO STARCHES. Is this about right? Also, what is the policy on yogurt and coconut milk?
