Avatar f tn Hi, I have been a veggie for 8 years, before I was a full-on meat eater ! And I have never had any problems at all ! No you dont need to take any tablets or pill or supplements (only vegans do). You will need to make sure you are having enough iron as meat is the main source for this. So the horror stories are probably because they didnt replace the meat- they just cut it out completely therefore no iron.

Avatar f tn I have been put on metformin hydrochloride 500 twice a day to decrease sugar levels. hernia op delayed because of this. diabetic type 2 and had always controlled by diet but sugar count creeping in the mornings so told dr who issued prescription. have been on just over 2 weeks yet morning tests show very little decrease 7.2 to 8.00. Told to wait 6 weeks for reconsideration on op. I know when they do blood test some sort of average is established so just morning count not all that is relevant. ?
Avatar m tn 8% which is slightly lower than the lower limit 40% WBC count is 3.1 K/uL which is lower than the lowest 4.0 (Neutrophils 38.1%, lower than lowest 40, Lymphocytes 45.3%, slightly higher than highest 45%) Doctor said it's not concerning and he should eat a regular diet (He doesn't consume much carbohydrate) Is this normal? He doesn't seem to have any other symptoms. He used to smoke cigar and now he still drinks wine (a little too much). he's 50.
Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?

Avatar n tn i suppose i could use quorn mince and drink skimmed milk but i do like soya milk, especially the alpro soya chocolate version!! i did read an article that said if you take your meds at a different time to the soya then you should be ok, anyone else read similar? a pity as i like soya milk, i could live without it but i only heard about this, this past week! and i thought it was good for me!
Avatar f tn it probably isn't the best idea to have so little protien in his diet, but kids sometimes do have issues about eating animals. replace the meat on his plate with tofu or quorn based product and he'll be okay. Any symptoms of anemia and go to a doctor!

So basically, this is what I got from it- fresh vegtables, fresh fruits, lean meats, most nuts, NO LACTOSE, NO SUGAR (except in fruits and honey), and NO STARCHES. Is this about right? Also, what is the policy on yogurt and coconut milk?
Avatar f tn m not a full-blown vegetarian. I really love a lot of their recipes! Also, try a product called Quorn as your meat substitute... I found it in the organic/health food section of my grocery store and you cook it straight from the freezer bag in the skillet. Tastes delicious and has a much firmer texture (more like chicken pieces almost) than tofu.

How can we be encouraging and supportive while we are very frustrated and angry at his seeming lack of interest in maintaining good health! We just want to nag and scream at him which we know will not work at all. Avatar f tn There are also meat substitutes like boca, morning star, quorn, setan, tofu, and on and on and on. As long as you eat well and get all the nutrients you as supposed to get (as in eat balanced) then you and baby will be fine. My doctors all know I am vegetarian and they have no concerns.
