Avatar n tn For a gestational diabetic, it may be a matter of only eating half the hamburger bun or perhaps not eating the hamburger bun at all at night. Perhaps this kind of approach will lower fasting sugars lower some. But again, it seems to me that the numbers are close to the physician's goal that and maybe no changes are really needed.

Avatar n tn s not going to be easy. What i have learned to do for my daughter is look at carbohydrate and compare what we will eat. It will get better trust me and easier but never just easy.
Avatar n tn and actually produce no insulin of their own (or very little insulin if they do produce any), and so lowering the carbohydrate count in their diets will not solve the problem.
Avatar f tn Read the labels on everything. Choose lowest calorie and lowest fat and carbohydrate you can find. Turkey bacon is great!!!! Turkey hamburger is a great change to make manwiches, ect. Good luck!!!!!!!
1829282 tn?1325591658 m unsure how to do this. It seems EVERYTHING I have/can find is either a carbohydrate or has relatively high sodium levels. What DOESN'T have carbohydrates? How do I go about eating less carbohydrates and maintaining a healthy diet. I eat oatmeal in the morning, a sandwich for lunch, and have been trying to stick with fish or chicken for dinner. Avatar f tn I have been put on metformin hydrochloride 500 twice a day to decrease sugar levels. hernia op delayed because of this. diabetic type 2 and had always controlled by diet but sugar count creeping in the mornings so told dr who issued prescription. have been on just over 2 weeks yet morning tests show very little decrease 7.2 to 8.00. Told to wait 6 weeks for reconsideration on op. I know when they do blood test some sort of average is established so just morning count not all that is relevant. ?
Avatar m tn 8% which is slightly lower than the lower limit 40% WBC count is 3.1 K/uL which is lower than the lowest 4.0 (Neutrophils 38.1%, lower than lowest 40, Lymphocytes 45.3%, slightly higher than highest 45%) Doctor said it's not concerning and he should eat a regular diet (He doesn't consume much carbohydrate) Is this normal? He doesn't seem to have any other symptoms. He used to smoke cigar and now he still drinks wine (a little too much). he's 50.

My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?

Avatar f tn Low iron could be due to poor intake, loss from body as happens in acidity and GERD, rectal polyps etc, due to improper absorption as in IBS or due to storage disorders. Also you need to get a pheripheral blood smear done to know the RBC count, structure and whether there is cytopenia (general decrease in cell count). The renal function and liver function needs to be checked as also electrophoresis of hemoglobin to know whether there is thalasemia trait or sickle cell anemia.

So basically, this is what I got from it- fresh vegtables, fresh fruits, lean meats, most nuts, NO LACTOSE, NO SUGAR (except in fruits and honey), and NO STARCHES. Is this about right? Also, what is the policy on yogurt and coconut milk?

Avatar f tn It you're having a hard time losing weight, may I suggest a very low carbohydrate diet. I've been on it since late March, and have lost almost 18 pounds. It's almost too easy! Just avoid anything "white"; flour, rice, pasta, starches, and of course sugar. I eat a hamburger with a big slab of cheese. Just no bun or fries. The reason I started it was to lower my blood sugar.
