230262 tn?1316645934 if its spaghetti squash..cut in half long ways, scoop out the yuck, put butter and a little brown sugar in each half. then cover with tin foil and bake for about 45 minutes!! Yum Yum.
Tbd Spaghetti squash is GREAT if you use 2 table spoons of your favorite spaghetti sauce. 300 calories for pasta, and 10 calories for same amount of the squash. Cook it WELL, and you can hardly tell the difference. Cook it less, and there is a difference, but I like it both ways. Make your own bread and use SPELT flower. It is really good, but kind of expensive. Coconut oil instead of even olive oil is good to.
Avatar f tn Try the v9 fruity drinks...
Avatar f tn I think I'm going to make spaghetti and garlic bread tonight .
230262 tn?1316645934 yummy, that sounds good too, you guys! I just got done making "3" bean salad too. I put extra stuff in it besides the kidney beans, green beans and yellow wax beans (which came outta the garden too, omg they are sooo much better than canned beans lol). I also put in green bell pepper, fresh broccolli, sweet red onion and cucumbers with the vinegar/olive oil/sugar/salt/pepper dressing and boil it 5 mins so the sugar emulsifies. Its sooo good that way!
Avatar f tn For instance, cauliflower in your mashed potatoes, or mixing veggies in your meatballs (for spaghetti)...you can even use spaghetti squash for noodles (really yummy). Instead of home baked potato chips, try kale, carrots, turnips, ect and bake them into chips. Or...JUICE them...you can hide all sorts of vegetables in fresh juice. If you don't eat them for inconvenience (which is a problem our family has), pick one day and chop the heck out of some veggies and store them in the fridge.
973741 tn?1342342773 There are plenty of great recipes for low carb foods these days. For example, instead of having spaghetti and meat sauce, I have spiralized zucchini with meat sauce. My kids don't like zucchini, but they sure like "green spaghetti"; and sometimes we make orange spaghetti by spiralizing carrots. :) I have been eating low carb (more or less strictly) for the past 10 years.
230262 tn?1316645934 Oh I froze a bunch of sweet corn too that i cooked and de-cobbed and sweetned, and made frozen bags of cream corn too. This year has been a banner year for our garden. Tons of squash (we found our new favorite is spaghetti squash cooked til tender and then add seasoned bread crumbs, pepper, butter and melted cheese on it!!!! MMMMMM.
506791 tn?1439842983 ve had cats that ate broccoli, corn ON the cob(he would hold the cob with one paw and nibble away!), squash, string beans, popcorn, potato chips, and I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting!
8526246 tn?1405601876 Carbs turn into sugar in the body so you want to limit your intake. One thing I did was when I made spaghetti I used spaghetti squash-- it was really good.
Avatar m tn I can eat foods that were a sure trigger like tomatoe based sauces with zero symptoms (use spaghetti squash instead of pasta)! Plus, I lost 8 lbs in 2 weeks without even trying. To confim these results, I have eaten meals with wheat and like clockwork the GERD symptoms return. It's truly amazing and might work for you. What have you got to lose??
Avatar f tn Many recipes are available to trick the taste buds, spaghetti squash, cauliflower mashed potatoes etc. There will be about a month of cravinga as the body and microflora adjust to the diet. Not only will you be much more satiated, but the pounds will melt off, you will have more energy, and cognitive clarity. I am speaking as a former D1 college athlete and 15 years experience around dieting and nutrition. If that helps with anything. Good luck! with determination you can absolutely do it.
Avatar f tn Most fruits people think of as fruits are almost all carb. If it's not fat or protein it's carbohydrate, which is why the whole concept of low carb diets is off. Vegetables are carbohydrates, but it wouldn't be healthy do without them. What low carb really means, or should mean, is avoiding simple carbs, such as sugar and white flower. Most fruits as we think of them are high in sugar, though it's not as quick to metabolize into simple sugar as processed cane sugar.
Avatar n tn This is logical for the type 2 diabetic, for eating a fairly low-carbohydrate diet would not require the production of as much insulin by the already stressed pancreas. However, if insulin resistance is the main problem for a type 2 diabetic, then lowering the carb count may not really be the solution, and medications to help the insulin-resistance problem still may be needed.
4628530 tn?1369109086 I made my own spaghetti sauce, added mushrooms, zucchini, red/yellow/orange peppers, onions, kale a spinach. And I baked and shredded up a spaghetti squash and used it in place of the noodles. It was very very delicious. I'm following a PALEO diet, which does allow meat, but I try to only eat chicken and fish at the most. I limit my beef to maybe once a week if necessary. If you go with beef just be sure its grass fed. Chicken = free range and Fish = wild caught.
356518 tn?1322263642 I have no zucchini, yellow crookneck, spaghetti squash, no acorn squash, no butternut etc!! How do you deal w/ the squash bugs without having to use toxic chemicals. I hate to put pesticides on anything (i have in the past but dont want to make regular practice of it) are there any natural remedies that scare them off??
Avatar f tn in lettuce leaves, instead of bread, but you can switch to whole grain bread instead of white or instead of having 2 slices of bread, just have one... Try spaghetti squash instead of pasta or switch to whole grain pasta instead of regular pasta... OR simply cut your portions in half. Have brown rice instead of white rice. Try quinuoa in place of pasta and/or rice, etc. Eat lots of veggies and protein, such as lean meat, chicken, fish, eggs, Greek yogurt.
