Avatar f tn Hi all, saw MS nurse yesterday and told her about my muscles cramping and leg and foot spasms. She has suggested I start carbamazepine to see if it helps. Im wondering if anyone has been on this and if it works. What sort of side effects it has? I see this would be used in trigeminal neuralgia too, which I think Ive had a couple of attacks already.

1204528 tn?1588786333 Maybe the carbamazepine, did you try it's derivative with fewer side effects called oxcarbazepine? Might as well be symptom of anxiety.
Avatar f tn A low BUN/Creatinine ratio may be associated with a diet low in protein, a severe muscle injury called rhabdomyolysis, pregnancy, Cirrhosis, or syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH). SIADH sometimes occurs with lung disease, cancer, diseases of the central nervous system, and the use of certain medications. I gave you more info in your personal message.
Avatar f tn I take Carbamazepine for ATN and have a new, rare reoccurring rash on my legs. My Dr. says they are not related, but when I researched it there were a few articles that indicated Carbamazepine could cause the rash.
Avatar f tn Hi, sorry you're experiencing all those symptoms, migraines can cause all sorts of problems, i was prescribed Carbamazepine for L'hermittes symptoms but i didn't tolerate it very well, I did experience dry mouth/throat along with few other unpleasant side effects, It makes sense to start with the lower dose and build up but I would discuss with your GP again if your not sure.
Avatar f tn My jaw clamps shut and awaken with sore tongue. I was put on Carbamazepine at night to stop involuntary movements, twitches and this also has stopped me from biting my tongue at night. Im wondering if it could be a mild form of epilepsy in that the drug has stopped it. Anyone one else experience this?
Avatar f tn It started with absence seizure and at the age of 17 he started having convulsions. He has been on carbamazepine 1600 mg per day for 8 years aND had seuzures at an average of twice per year. Last year after marriage the frequency increased. Thrice in 3 months. We went to a different doc. He said that he had primary generalized seizure or a right right frontal focus with hemispheric bisynchrony. He also said that carbamazepine is not right medication for it so slowly changed it to kepra.
Avatar n tn Hi, my girlfrien is 19 years old, she´s messial temporal sclerosis post neucisticercosis and she´s epileptic, she´s taking carbamazepine (1gr/day even somedays she doen´t take the complete dosis because she´s student and the sleepiness interfer with her studdies). i would like to know if she may have any seizure during the sex?
Avatar n tn I have no idea but my understanding is that the carbamazepine blood levels may be increased by the prozac (fluoxetine) which can lead to carbamazepine toxicity. Combining fluoxetine or paroxetine with phenytoin can also lead to increased phenytoin side effects and reduce blood levels of paroxetine. You really need to discuss the potential drug interactions with your own doctor.
Avatar f tn My private neurologist, who I went to see once, suggested me to stop carbamazepine, but my public neurologist suggested me not to change the medication. I have been cutting down on the carbamazepine, from 600g to 200g a day. My double vision has improved A LOT., and just experienced tongue numbness and ‘cloudy’ mind more often. I had only one attack after the change of medication. On that occasion, I didn’t sleep all night because of an allergic reaction to Ciproxin..
Avatar n tn hi, i had suffered from partial seizures when i was 13 years old . i soon started carbamazepine ( 600 mg).i was diagonosed with a cyst in the brain( doc said due to a parasite's egg reaching the brain, neurocysticercosis) .After a year i gradually stopped the course and was fine for 7 months when i had a partial seiure again. this time the mris showed that the cyst had vanished( i had taken sm meds fr that in the beginning) and my eeg was normal too. i started carbamazepine again.
Avatar m tn For very stupid reasons I ingested 10 pills of what I think are 200mg Carbamazepine release tablets on Monday night. And now my hearing is different (I hear everything on a lower note) and my head is really spinning. How long will I have to wait for this to stop ? If it can help I'm a 17 year old male and the imprint on this white pill was T26.
Avatar n tn t get in to the neurologist for another 3 weeks. I have already been on Neurontin so they added carbamazepine. She gave me some Vicodin for two days worth while the carbamazepine builds up... but so far, I'm still in constant pain that the Vicodin only barely relieves.
1806721 tn?1554333407 A low BUN-to-creatinine ratio may be caused by a diet low in protein, a severe muscle injury called rhabdomyolysis (can be caused by statin drugs), pregnancy, cirrhosis, or syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH). SIADH sometimes occurs with lung disease, cancer, diseases of the central nervous system, and the use of certain medicines.
Avatar f tn yes they said it is trigeminal neurlagia and put in the reccomendation to start the carbamazepine 2x perday.
5544493 tn?1369608788 That's hard to say. Truthfully, which medication works the best depends solely on your genetic make-up. Each medication regiment has to be tailored to the patient. There is no single "med cocktail" that works for everyone, unfortunately. It can take a few years to find the right mix for you or you may luck out and find it quickly.
372366 tn?1284403873 You might talk to your doctor about adding a low dose of amiltriptyline at night or possibly adding carbamazepine. I know that carbamazepine can be used with gabapentin (Neurontin), so it "should be okay with Lyrica. Carbamezepine is FDA-approved in the US for use in Trigeminal Neuralgia, which is one of the most severe nerve-pain syndromes known. It is also approved for use in diabetic neuropathy which can be severe and is often of a burning nature. Take a look at that discussion.
Avatar f tn And does Paxil interact with Diazepam and does paxil interact with carbamazepine? Does carbamazepine interact with diazepam and vice versa? Please help! Write me back! I am a single mom of two small children who is scared that something will happen to me.
Avatar m tn Whereas 6 x 200mg of Carbamazepine used to keep things relatively under control, now I am at 17 x 200mg (3,400mg daily) and still suffer from unimaginable pain. My question is: What is the most effective dosing schedule should I use for Carbamazepine? Would that be 4 pills 4 times per day? Or perhaps 5 pills 3 times per day? Or 3 pills 5 times per day (i.e. - Getting up in the middle of the night for a dose.)? I feel right now my schedule is rather willy-nilly...
1298230 tn?1286310079 Ive just starting taking carbamazepine and was just wondering how long it takes before the medication starts to have any affect??
