Avatar n tn Well, I might as well get my 2ยข in here, too... Optimizing thyroid hormone levels, which should be your first and foremost priority, since no diet is going to help you lose weight until your metabolism is normalized. Once that's done, you should opt for a low glycemic diet, which is a diet that centers on foods that increase blood sugars the least. Those foods would include high quality proteins, vegetables, whole grains, etc. Do some research and find a list of low glycemic foods.
Avatar f tn your blood sugar may be cycling up and down, which may suggest eating a way that reduces the cycling. To do this, eat low carb diet, moderate protein and balance of calories from fat. Stabilizing your blood sugar will likely help the ups and downs you are experiencing after eating.
Avatar n tn they give me indigestion. I do make low carb breads from time to time (particularly for my children) out of almond flour or coconut flour. There are some great low carb website for lowcarb baking (alldayIdreamaboutfood) is a great one. However, I mostly just stick with basic foods. Breakfast is typically just coffee with cream. Both lunch and dinner will typically be some sort of meat and veges.
Avatar n tn For example, you can increase light exercise (walking/ cycling), make sure you eat light meals, drink a tall glass of water every hour throughout the day, use a natural stool softener or herbal colon cleanser capsule, and add more veggies/fruit to your diet. Stay away from heavy, carb laden foods and stimulant laxatives. If none of these suggestions seem to help, speak with your doctor for further advice.

850029 tn?1238857820 Although we tried the GFCF diet for my son and it didn't help, I do agree with eldermom that it sounds like trying this diet would be a fantastic idea for this young man. I have seen it help many other children on the spectrum it just wasn't for us. One thing that helped my son TREMENDOUSLY was putting him on fish oil with dha. So many people suggested it to us and we thought it sounded like a crazy notion but it makes my son a different person!
Avatar m tn I have been having very brief lightheadedness for about a week now. It started when i was in line christmas shopping and lasted 3-4 seconds. Ever since then i get brief relapses. I have checked my own sugar levels (normal) and my BP was 125/75 hr 68 and i was sitting down when it happened. I have a bad habit of taking a hair clip and scratching an ear itch or cleaning out wax. Could i have caused an infection?

Avatar m tn So far the ONLY thing that has worked for me is a ketogenic diet. I eat real foods, a good source of protein and fat and I only get my carbs from vegetables and very limited fruits (berries). I have tried counting calories, weight watchers and all sorts of advertised diets/shakes/programs and nothing worked for me.
Tbd 1. Low carb, adequate protein, fat for energy balance - otherwise known as ketogenic of low carb diet. In this diet carbs are typically restricted to 30g or less per day. This diet also includes abundant non-starchy, non-sweet vegetables and plant foods. 2. Very low fat, adequate protein, high carb. This is the plant based and even vegan diet that some are promoting. This diet does not have processed foods.
