2087488 tn?1332582128 Yes, IBD is a possibility, though the OP doesn't mention any vomiting or diarrhea, so probably not. However, IBD is more common in some dogs, including German Shepherds, than others, so it cannot be discounted. IBD can be treated quite successfully with the right foodstuffs, and ones that do not inflame the intestines and bowel areas. A steroid or cortisodal medication is also known to help reduce symptoms, though there is no cure for this condition.
Avatar f tn and when should i really begin to worry about him not eating? he has had probably 3 or 4 tablespoons of chicken broth but almost a whole liter of pedialyte in the past two days.
Avatar f tn When a pet even a human is not eating and is throwing up as much as Your dog is, it is in need of medical assistance. Apart from the fact he could have a serious illness he is still not eating and is throwing up everytime he is consuming water. He has a high risk of not only being ill from whatever is causing this but by becoming dehydrated due to lack of water and becoming lethargic. He needs to be taken to a vet as soon as possible.
620877 tn?1282764097 My Golden retriever has had a few episodes recently where in the middle of the night, first thing in the morning or late afternoon (so all when her stomach is empty), has vomited a frothy bile substance. She is eating normally, her stool is normal, normal water intake, energy is fine. The only thing that I can think of that might be causing this: bully sticks. But, I have been giving her bully sticks for months, so I don't know why all of a sudden she would not be able to tolerate them.
Avatar f tn I am 14 weeks pregnant and I don't want to eat. I am not vomiting or anything just don't like any food and the thought of eating is like a hassle. I only eat because I know I have too but that is getting harder to do. Mom's please help.
20907304 tn?1617242157 healthy, or so I thought. I woke up monday morning to him acting out of character. Then the vomiting started, at first I thought he was just hungry. But it kept going and he was acting so weird. I took him to my vet & his levels indicate kidney failure. I noticed about 2 months ago increased drinking and peeing. I wasn't aware this was a sign of early stage kidney issues and I regret my ignorance so so much ..
Avatar f tn My 16 year old papillon chihuahua mix was bleeding from one of his upper molars and not eating so we got blood work and mostly everything is good except liver. He got a shot of antibiotics and I got sent home with clavamox. He ate a little that evening. Then after I gave him the dose yesterday he ate some boiled turkey and some nonfat Greek yogurt. So in the evening I gave him the supplement they gave for liver and he threw up 90 min later. Today not eating.
Avatar f tn Ive lost too much wait in my opinion and its not because of vomiting but because i dont eat enough. I never have a appetite.
Avatar f tn Helpful supplements you might consider include pure organic salmon oil (rich in omega-3 fatty acids), rhemania-8, CoQ10 - these can be given in rotation, so salmon oil (with a Vitamin E canine capsule, as salmon oil depletes this vitamin in the canine body) on day one, then rehamania-8 on day 2; then CoQ10 day three. These help boost the kidneys, improve the immune system and reduce inflammation. All quite helpful.
Avatar f tn he needs to be admitted in a rehab.... not eating for 4 weeks is NOT healthy..and then he is drinking and taking pills on top of not eating.... not smart....
Avatar f tn This is not meant to sound cruel or harsh, but if your dog has refused food for three days and is now vomiting, you should have called the vet this morning! The heat has been so oppressive this summer that a dog can dedydrate in a day if they are not drinking normally, and now that vomiting has started on top of that, it will happen that much more quickly because she's not taking in liquid but now she's vomiting it up!
1832268 tn?1326816010 Less than a week later, he completely stopped eating. Took him to specialist after 2 days of not eating. The specialist thought it was nausea causing him not to eat. So we checked him in . Next day he was worse, the next day the vet said he had 3 weeks to live. The following day they said he might not last the weekend. The following day they said it was not humane to keep him going and he was put to sleep. Entire time from first diagnosis to his passing was about 3 weeks.
Avatar f tn I have a dachsund/beagle mix about 18lbs. I noticed the skin on her neck is loose today. It was not like that yesterday or this morning. What could this be? Doesn't feel like there's fluid or anything inside it's just hanging loose like aged skin. She is only 2-3 years old. What do I do?
Avatar n tn Over the past 6 weeks she has lost a lot of weight, her legs are giving out on her, shes not eating much, and now she is throwing up a mix of bile and food every time she eats. She is also having diarrhea every other day. She is still in good spirits and not in pain. I'm wondering how much time we have left with her so I can prepare my 7 year old son. Is this days? Weeks? A month?
Avatar n tn By the way, if he is not eating at all, liquid is essential. some pedialyte popscicles are good or even just regular popscicles. Little bits of water or watered down juice are good. But he needs to have some liquid intake. If he isnn't doing that, go immediately to your doctor. Small children can become dehydrated easily.
Avatar n tn She was then taken for a vet visit and given a good bill of heath, and was not told to be concerned with the herpes that is dangerous mostly to younger puppies. But I am just looking for more information on the diagnosis. I will try to get a more specific diagnosis for her medical records.
Avatar f tn s had the Mirtzapine (2 tablets) last weekend, but I could not see any difference in his vomiting. We took the phosphate binder away for the weekend, to see if that might not be the problem. So far, I doubt it very much, as I've seen no change. I went to a veterinary referral clinic to have his blood pressure measured. It is normal 134mmHg systolic cuff 5 RF. He is only mildly anaemic. (37-55) Tonight he's refusing to eat.
Avatar n tn I'm desperate for help! Here's the situation: My dog was vomiting about 1 month ago and lethargic. I took him to the emergency vet clinic and they did an Xray, which was inconclusive. They sent me to a specialist center to have an ultrasound done. The specialist looked at him and felt that the Xray was inconclusive due to bad technique and recommended leaving him overnight for observation.
