Avatar n tn In the event that you had a fasting blood glucose test, a dimension somewhere in the range of 70 and 100 mg/dL (3.9 and 5.6 mmol/L) is viewed as ordinary. In the event that you had an arbitrary blood glucose test, an ordinary outcome relies upon when you last ate. More often than not, the blood glucose level will be underneath 125 mg/dL (6.
Avatar n tn Thanks for the info and timely response.
Avatar n tn What does this measurement mean? According to my blood report I am slightly out of the preferred range.
Avatar f tn I went to the emergencyroom back in march. They did blood tests and my glucose was 104 which they considered high(normal being up to 99) They never said anything to me about this and as far as I know, I have never had this before. I had to go to the emergency room again last month and again, they did blood work. My glucose level was only 88. I am just wondering if I should be looking into this. Could I be diabetic? They never said anything about the high level.
Avatar n tn Glucose in the blood is called blood glucose, also known as blood sugar. As the blood glucose level rises after a meal, the pancreas releases insulin to help cells take in and use the glucose. When people are insulin resistant, their muscle, fat, and liver cells do not respond properly to insulin. As a result, their bodies need more insulin to help glucose enter cells. The pancreas tries to keep up with this increased demand for insulin by producing more.
Avatar m tn I had my blood work done about a month ago and now have received a copy some of the results have me concerned first is the ESR which is 42mm Anion Gap 2meq Fasting Glucose 107 Total Billrubin 1.33mg ALT 21U/L TSH 2.46 Free T4 .
Avatar n tn However at this range it is also better to start with medications for diabetes to bring down the blood sugar levels. Please consult an endocrinologist for the same. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn Does a persons age play a factor for their "normal" fasting glucose range? During my last visit to my 82 yo mother, I happened to see her test results that showed her fasting glucose range topping out at 180 mg. I, on the other hand, being 60 yo & under immunosuppressant meds have a range from 50 - 150 mg, yet I constantly hear the normal range is 70 - 120. Both of our blood samples are tested at the same lab too. So what is the "normal" fasting glucose range?
Avatar m tn I always take 2 or 3 pulkas or chapathis during night every day and i dont eat rice during night.. But whenever i check the blood glucose levels with the glucometer, i find that the fasting values are not within the range of normal values viz 110 for fasting. but the post lunch levels always within the normal range of viz 140.The random levels always varies from 125 to 150. Kindly advise me whether i am diabetic and do i have to take medicine for diabetes?
490398 tn?1319940717 This is NOT a fasting glucose. My dad is diabetic and he has all of the tools to test blood. He has regular diabetes not Type 2 but it usually skips a generation. I had blood taken at the doctor last week, again, not fasting, for other health problems and it came back at 169. My doc obviously wants to retest me when I've been fasting and get an A1c.
Avatar f tn We then did 2/3 cup of protein, 1/3 organ meat, 1/3 cup vegetable, dark greens, 1/2 teaspoon seaweed calcium, fish oil (we were doing an omega-3 supplement to start), Standard Process canine renal support and Canine whole body support., and the DiarRice. The next day she had horrible, watery diarrhea. In my opinion, it was either the organ meats or the calcium. I put her back to just the very basic diet. That seemed to help if I included the DiarRice. My questions are....
Avatar n tn I went to the ER not long ago and I was told I had very high blood sugar, I had not eaten anything for more than 8 hours other than toast.
Avatar n tn Takes a couple of tubes of glucose to bring him out of it. He does not answer appropriately but responds to commands such as stick out your tongue, squeeze my hand after BS is raised to 170 is completely fine. Is this considered Hypoglycemia even though BS is 114 and if not why does he recover after an increase is sugar., and what can it be?
Avatar m tn Hi. So, the exact number for everyone as to fasting glucose level and what they'd see after 3 hours after eating is unique. There is a 'range' of normal. Normal for fasting glucose level range is around 72 to 99 and up to 140 two hours after eating. https://www.medicinenet.com/normal_blood_sugar_levels_in_adults_with_diabetes/article.htm You sound within normal to me. Have you been concerned for any reason? Did you recently get this lab work done? Tell us more!
Avatar f tn I have been monitoring my blood sugars at home since at a doctor visit my fasting glucose was 135. Every morning in the past week I have taken it (on empty stomach) it has been in the 130's, only one time it was 114. All throughout the day it is between 129 and 158, sometimes it is 192, 263. I had blood drawn today for A1c, should get the results in a couple of days. I am wondering if these numbers are normal, or do I have a problem?
Avatar n tn If your insulin was a lot higher than normal but your blood glucose was in the normal range, it means that your pancreas is having to produce large amounts of insulin to keep your blood sugar down. So, yes, your are insulin resistant, even though you are technically not a diabetic. Insulin resistance suggests that you are developing Type 2 diabetes, even though your blood sugar levels are within the normal range. The experts are not sure what causes insuli reistance.
Avatar n tn Hello! I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. The normal blood glucose ranges for anyone, child or not are between 80 and 120. Some doctors will say 70-110, but it's all in the same range. Now, that's the target, but depending on what is eaten for example, a healthy person's blood glucose can rise temporarily up close to 200. As long as the values return to normal after a couple hours, all is well.
580765 tn?1274919360 As I was getting them together and putting them in order, I noticed that the LP results that I had 6 years ago were slightly out of range. The normal range of glucose in a spinal fluid exam is 40- 70mg/dL. Mine was 74. My protein was 28 and within the range of 15-45. They did note that there were no oligoclonal bands present. The doctor still listed the LP as negative. Since I am not a doctor I do not know if a slightly elevated glucose level points to anything.
514349 tn?1272801633 you should give the values on these tests. example for blood glucose you need to have certain values or range that can help doctor assess if your pre diabetic or diabetic or needs additional test.
Avatar n tn t tell a doctor what is going with your glucose levels at all times of the day. Home glucose meters are good to see how well one is managing their glucose levels. Having scaled results (high to low, or normal to near high or above) calls for an A1c test to see the entire picture. An A1c test measures your glucose going back three months. Why three months? On the average, new red blood cells live three months before dieing off and getting turned into Bilirubin.
Avatar n tn A few years ago I was diagnosed as pre diabetic, but I lost 60 pounds and I was able to get my blood sugar down to reasonable levels. I just had a blood test to apply for Life Insurance. I'm a 38 year old male and I'm about 220 pounds. I got a blood glucose reading of 77 mg/dl (I hadn't eaten for 4 hours) but my fructosamine rating was 1.8 (out of a range of 0-2.0). Should I be worried?
