Avatar m tn Drugs like Enalapril and Candesartan, while often thought of as medications for treating high blood pressure, also have a proven role in the treatment of congestive heart failure. If your father is feeling unwell, and you think it is related to the medications, you should have him seen by his doctor. Also, be sure to mention to his doctor any over-the-counter supplements that he may be taking.
Avatar m tn 2007 I was once again sent to neurologist who still suspected migraine but eventually gave me option for head MRI to clear my mind from any serious suspicions (I was thinking along MS and tumors). Head MRI was completely normal. Few migraine prevention medicines were tried again without success. -- worry some symptoms emerge -- 2008 came with a more worrying symptom. I started to have problems initiating swallowing (dysphagia?).
Avatar m tn However, in the months afterwards he had several brief blackouts which we later discovered were occurrences of his heart stopping briefly for a few seconds or less. Initially the hospital had no idea that his heart was actually stopping because even though he blacked out, by the time he arrived at the hospital all of his medical results showed as fine - his blood pressure, his ECG, etc..
Avatar n tn However, some patients complain from persisting cough for 6 months and even for longer time. A good alternative in this case is Angiotensin II receptor blockers (eg Candesartan, Telmisartan, Valsartan..).

851310 tn?1238980845 A migraine attack without the classical symptoms of aura, headache and nausea is classified as atypical migraine. A silent migraine, ocular migraine etc are all examples of atypical migraine. Generally this occurs in response to weather changes, spasm of blood vessels of the brain, insufficient sleep, motion sickness and exposure to bright lights. Hope this helps. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining.
Avatar n tn Beta Blockers are one class of migraine medication. I currently take a Beta Blocker for my migraines as well, called Nadolol, which is different than Inderal. A different Beta Blocker may provide the same relief that the Inderal used to provide you. The other two classes of daily preventative medications are antidepressants and anticonvulsants. It would be worth trying the class of medication that you have yet to try.
Avatar f tn My question is, are my current symptoms really migraine aura? They last for only a few seconds, while migraine auras always last for at least 15 minutes.
Avatar f tn If it lasts for more than 4 hours it could be chronic tension headache, chronic migraine or altered migraine or hemicranias continua. The CDH could also be secondary to trauma, raised intracranial hypertension, high blood pressure, cervical disorders like pinched nerves, temporal arteritis etc. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind.
465731 tn?1209649545 I have it too and I suffered really bad migraines as a kid. During my teenage, they just disappeared. I do have a slightly heavy head ever since the static has come (a month) but I don't know what caused which. I probably had some weird abnormality in my brain that was triggered after I used some eye drops and they caused an allergic reaction. My eyesight has also gotten slightly weak after this. In your case, I would say it's either optic neuritis i.e.

1052851 tn?1307741160 Because I can drive for 45 minutes without a migraine now. I still bet that I would get a migraine though if I drove for much longer, because my muscles do sure start to get sore!! The one thing I still can't do for very long without my muscles seizing up is sitting in one position reading for very long... I can't get "caught up" in reading, because when I do I'll get neck pain which will then turn into a migraine.
Avatar f tn If it lasts for more than 4 hours it could be chronic tension headache, chronic migraine or altered migraine or hemicranias continua. Indomethacin is the drug of choice in hemicranias continua. In fact the diagnosis is considered confirmed if a patient responds to Indomethacin. Doctors should also rule out hormone imbalance and low estrogen as the cause of your headaches. Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please discuss these possibilities with your doctor once.
Avatar n tn It may be replaced with valsartan or candesartan which do not usually cause this side effect. The verapamil usually does not cause this side effect. This may not be related to your medications, and chronic cough or ' bronchial asthma' may actually be cardiac in nature ( e.g. CHF). Make sure your physician takes this other consideration into account.
Avatar f tn I was given DHE 45 intravenously to stop the migraine. It had awful side effects but man did it work wonders for the migraine. I was never told why I had a 15 day migraine but many causeas were ruled out. If you have insurance contact a neurologist for an appointment and find out what they can do. I now take Imitrex and Topomax to reduce the number of headaches and to stop thm once they have started.
Avatar f tn Its highly likely these will need a medical intervention of some type. You may be a candidate for stenting or it might be necessary to have a bypass done. For the moment try just take it as easy as possible, take your meds every day and follow your docs advice. The Asprin and clopidogrel are usually prescribed as a preventative measure to help prevent blood clotting. You also have a statin for colesterol and Carvedilol which is a beta blocker and Candesartan.
