I'm sure you are working with the doctor that perscribes the suboxone for you but I can tell you it is possible...I'm sure you have to go a little slower in reducing the suboxone when youre pregnant...but you should be able to be off of it by the time you have the baby. My job is substance abuse and we detox people off of suboxone all the time..while it is difficult and doesnt come without some pain....I commend you for doing this for your baby! with that said many physicians feel certain patients can safely take xanax and sub together. especially if there xanax use has been long term for a diagnosis of panic/anxiety. they should be followed by their psychiatrist for that and the sub physician and psychiatrist can manage your dosages.
xanax, like Ga Guy says, has a short half life and on top of that metabolizes faster and faster. the sub dose is critical as well. if it is too high or too low, anxiety can occur.
With the amount of oxy he was taken sub might not work, the dose can only go so high and then it actually acts as anti-opiate, the oens used in overdoses, whereas methadone is a full agonist and you can go higher and higher whatever you need to make you comfortable and stable. both give you a mild buzz, and both are complete hell to get off of. sub is just as hard no matter what anyone else says. its just as hard as methadone, its opiate withdrawal times two months. it *****.
25mg of xanax for a short time and it was fine. The danger with xanax and suboxone is when the xanax is abused and taken at much higher doses, so I would not recommend doing that. I guess the question I would ask is do you really want to be clean? If so, keep working with your doctor, follow his instructions and take the subutex as directed - stay away from the other pills. Get some other support through an NA meeting or from others on this site.

I have been on suboxine since June. I had taken xanax for 20 yrs. The suboxine dr told me that xanax & klonopin are the worst to take with sub's. You can take to much xanax & pass out and poss die. Especially xanax in large quanties. Beleive it or not my sub dr gave 2mg valium for anxiety. In my drug yrs I would have taken 40,50 mgs a day of valiums, always got them off the street, xanax i had a script for.. Now I take 2 mgs 3 times a day.
Can you please tell me if you can take Nexium 40mg. and Zantac 75mg. together or on the same day. My GI doctor has me on Nexium 40mg. and my PCP wants me to take Zantac 75mg. at night before I go to bed. Is it safe, and can I take it with Xanax 1mg. I have GERDS and Barrett's Esophagus. And they both think it mjght be causing these little pinpoint pimples in my mouth, tongue, and throat.
I was just diagnosed with an autoammune disease and don't want to take plaquenil just yet. Doctor said to take celebrex and a muscle relaxer. I have been taking 1 mg of xanax for 3 weeks and before that it was about twice a week as needed. I was having such anxiety and sleep issues rhemy said to take it every day. Now 3 weeks later she wants to try the new coctail of celebrex and muscle relaxer.
I'd echo everything that MSDelight said & asked. I'd also add that increasing your dose of Subs will not result in less anxiety or more euphoria (there's a ceiling dose & you're past it). However, it will most likely exacerbate some of the nasty side effects that folks experience @ high doses of Subs.
I'd also echo pillguy's question about the Xanax. It's contra-indicated with subs.
s have a short half life so I would do my last pills early 9pm take a bar of xanax and try to sleep when you wake up in the morning you should be sick. So take a half a sub and wait an hour or two if still hurting take the other half. The sub will start filling the recepters. I took a couple subs my first day.
You can take them together but as girlybuff said you must be very careful. I still take ambien sometimes and every once in awhile xanax. My doctor said it was ok but def no alcohol with these. They can cause your resperatory system to slow way down and even stop if you take to much. I would not use a benzo daily and as little as possible. Goingtomakeit is right this should be done with a doctors supervision.
At the time Suboxone was just coming out and replacing methadone, so they put me on both Suboxone and Xanax. We'll later down the road, doctors started realizing it was a bad combo but if guess they chose to ignore it.
I never missed an apppoinment in the last year. I've passes all my monthly drug tests. I went to every group therapy required. I told him my anxiety was worse and he wasn't helping me.
I have no medical proof but ican tell you it must.
Hey, I have no idea about the sub, but I can tell you about benzos. Is there any way you could see a dr and talk about your plan to taper? See the mean thing aabout xanax is that it's a short acting benzo, so if you could make the switch to a long lasting one like Valium, that would be easier for you to taper.
In general, you taper 20% of the actual dosage/month.
Fortunately you didn't take them for too long so it shouldn't be that bad.
On 1/26/10 he was admitted to a program to take him off the Suboxone. Initially they tried to take him off the Suboxone and Xanax at the same time. They substitued Valium for Xanax, but he did not do well so they put him back on Xanax. He did not taper off the Suboxone, they took him off cold turkey. He was in rehab for 16 days when our insurance said "no more", so he came home. It is now 2/14/20 and he is still shaking, anxious and very ill.
