I saw an ENT about 3 weeks ago and had a hearing test - everything was good, and all that I got was some song and dance about it being allergies and to take zyrtec and Rhinocort. So now I'm taking that, but I have also delved into Colostrum as it is supposed to naturally support your immune system. I have also been taking 5-HTP (50mg) for the insomina/anxiety, but don't go overboard with anything because I have read a few studies that it can backfire if you take too much.
) or zyrtec. zyrtec is stronger, but has a slightly higher chance of making you drowsy. If you take it regularly at night before you got to bed, this any potential drowsiness won’t be an issue and this effect wears off after a few days. ● Diphenhydramine (Benadryl). This is an older, stronger antihistamine, which can definitely make you drowsy. It’s also used to severe allergic reactions and rashes.
Work with good doctors and they will eventually get you back to good health. It may take a long time (3+ years for me), but it is possible. Also, pulmonary function tests can be a little miss leading. The numbers are based on 'norms'. You may not be close to the norms even healthy. I have the opposite problem. My normal is far above the norm so doctors think I am ok when I am 30% below what is healthy for me. Basically, an FEV 1 of 70 for you may be perfectly healthy.
Food!! You can be alergic to foods and they can irritate your sinus's and many other issues. My boss at work has a sister with these same issues. She found some program that dealt with dietary changes with supplements. It was very strict. Her symptoms disappeared and she felt 100% better. After the program they said she could start introducing certain foods back into her diet. When she did, like stuff with dairy in it the symptoms of sinus issues started back.
Oh i forgot to mention hmpeit that i have had a thyroid disorder since the age of 13, and i am now 43 so i do understand and know the dangers of taking meds for allergies. When you're dizzy and balance is off you can't drive, and you just don't feel like you can sit up. No way you can concentrate or work...all you can do is lay around. I can't make plans because I never know how I'll feel. Like again today I have the facial pressure and getting ready to take some Advil (which doesn't work 100%) and I usually put a very hot water bottle on my face, before I get sick at my stomach again with it. My summer was ruined!

Hi Jeanette, having read your comment I can empathize with you, it is distressing when people develop symptoms that modern medicine doesnt understand, we are mere mortals and yet we revere physicians and treat them as saviors, they are only human and do not have all the answers, I too suffer from several anxiety related problems including vestibular dysfunctions, my own personal belief is that they origanate in the brain and manfest themselves into physical conditions that are baffling and fru

You can purchase the booklet from most all health food stores and you will be absolutely amazed at he results. You can find the recipe on line as well, but I highly recommend the book in order to understand the benefits. It only cost a little under 7 dollars. Also research the netti pots. They work really well. I also use silver as an antibiotic in most cases and homeopathic remedies for mold, yeast and pollen. Good luck and God bless!!
Whether taking one or the other will suffice, instead of both, would best be determined by trial and error, with you and your doctor working together to reach that decision.
I was disgnosed last year, take zyrtec daily and nasonex, no help so far. Last night I was breathing through my mouth so much that my tongue swelled up a bit and was painful to get back into my mouth. I cant stand it.. the headches, the sneezing the runny nose, congestion itchy eyes red and swollen. Sometimes it is painful to even sneeze. I cant stand it/ I am sorry to see so many people in this same misery.
Looking for some feedback on both Rhinocort and Allegra, including any experiences, side effects, etc. Does Rhinocort work faster? Can you take both at the same time? Any other suggestions for allergy relief? nasonex and the non-steroid Nasocrum have been mentioned before. I know some docs don't prescribe nasal steroids when you're on tx, but mine has no problem with nasal or oral steriods. and in this case, the benefits will outweigh any negatives as long as it works.
Or I can provide you with my email address and you can just send it to me if that is preferable for you and for her. Please check with her first to see if either is okay with her. Thank you so much for your info and looking for some relief.
I think it really needs a good therapist that can read the language of the body to see what bone should be adjusted and how. and if you don't like the "hard" chiropractic adjustments one can do the same job with slow mobilization with little movement and force. Another thing I don't think any of you have considered is the chakras. It sounds new-age but they are a reality, they can be dysfunctional just like the rest of the body and therefore they also needs attention.
I can totally sympathize with all of you going through this most annoying problem(s) of throat clearing, cough, post nasal drip sensation, thick mucous coming out of nose, and I have the feeling of a lump (globus) on one side of my throat... etc. etc. I have been to every specialist in my local area- have been to Dr. Koufman at Wake Forest 2 day work up 24hr pH- esaphagoscopy, etc.- she diagnosed me with LPRD I did the meds. ... no change. Then onto Dr. Irwin's cough clinic at the U. of Mass.
A cold makes you sneeze, makes your nose run, stuffs up your nose, makes your throat rough or sore or hoarse, and you can get mild chills or fever, and you might get a headache, and you might just feel funky and tired and sick. Sometimes, a cold won’t cause any symptoms at all, and it will clear up in the same amount of time. A cold starts when a virus gets into your nose. Your nose actually helps the virus get to the back of nose, to where it can infect a nasal cell.
I have every steroid and antihistamine prescription nasal spray, liquid, pill and everything else you can think of on the market. That's how bad my sinuses and allergies are! Off the top of my head nasonex, rhinocort, astelin, nasaril, zyrtec, cingulair, entex, claritin and D, histex, prednisone (4 inflammation in my ears and sinuses), flonase, chlorpheniramine, atarax, phenylephrine......
Well my neurologist put me on Xanax because I was experiencing the symptoms to the point that I was having panic attacks because of being frustrated that the feelings wouldn't go away no matter what. Basically there is nothing physically wrong with me which is good. My symptoms are more than likely due to my body's response to trauma i've been going through. The xanax helps because it makes me calmed down and intensifies the foggy headed feeling.
It began in 1976 and re occurs every 5 to 6 years. I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out.
Hi, Glad to know that the treatment has helped you.
I want to know if anyone else has this and if so what causes it and what can you do to control it without a prescription. I am desperate. I am a runner that does not want a prescription. I suffer from asthma and the hives are worse when my asthma is worse. I am not taking anything for asthma except for an inhaler at the moment. I am tired of depending on drugs. I know that may sound ignorant but I want to help myself to help itself if you know what I mean.
i am also experiencing wicked head aches and at some points feeling like im going to faint and die at the same time. and now my throat is swollen and really sore. if any of you have any ideas on whats causing any of this please inform me!
I have had cortisone shots and know that they are only temporary, if they work at all. I take antihistamines at night so I can sleep, but I try to take the lowest dosage possible and I experiment with going off of them on weekends (when I don't have work the next morning) so that I don't become dependent on them.
He takes Singulair and Flovent daily, Xopenex as needed and has been on pulmicort, zyrtec and nasonex. This last Croup attack Tuesday was a 911 call. It came on with in an 1 hour of us checking on him in bed. He was in severe respitory distress and had to be given Epinepherine 4 times at the hospital. He also has Decadron on every attack. This was the most severe as he usually can recover from 1-2 doses of Racemic Epinepherine. Please help us!
The terrible thing is some times the sneeze itself triggers another you get so stuffed up but drippy too, that you can hardly breathe for fear of more sneezes. You can stand up and start to sneeze! A fan blowing can trigger it, cooler air form an air con, then going into warmer air. I have tried all medication and the nasal sprays ( which often trigger a sneeze themselves!) I've had x-rays to see if there is a blockage or an infection, nothing! Do you think stress can cause it?
My problems are recent and came on literally overnight with a crippling headache that no meds could stop, and I live in Thailand where we have access to just about any med you can imagine, and a few you can't. I started with general doctors, no use. Then to a ENT who gave me a CT scan and told me I had a cyst in my sinus, it was no big deal, gave me nasal spray and said it was impossible that this cyst was causing my extreme headaches.
