can you take lyrica with valerian

Has anyone used Muscle Ezze with Valerian root for Fibromyalgia??? I got a sample from Chiropractor. I take Lyrica and Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia and Depression.

can we take valerian root/kava kava/st john wort/5-htp etc.

yes i know this sarah, but I cant see my rheumtoloigst til JANUARY. so i am trying to figure it all out..i am starting to definately think its arthritis and not fibro...my joints swell and ache and feel like they are on fire...i tihnk i am going to stay away from the gabapentin til i see him in jan....bc gabapentin is for fibro and if i dont have that then wats the point and its the kind of drug you have to build up in ur system and build down you cant just quit cold turkey........

Basically, the standard warning is not to take kava or valerian when taking a benzo, as they all target GABA. The drug is obviously stronger than the herbs, and kava is stronger than valerian as a relaxant. GABA supplements don't usually pass the blood/brain barrier, so they not only shouldn't be taken along with a drug targeting GABA but probably won't work.

I would just use caution because it too can make you sedated. It is ok to take the valerian if you do not take the diazepam (again, only when going to sleep because it is sedating). Just be sure not to take the valerian and diazepam together. They are believed to work in a similar way in the brain.

Just remember, since, it is a dietary supplement and can interact with medications, to ensure you talk to your doctor before using this especially if you are on any benzos because of its 'sedative' effects.

First, if you take a benzo, you have to stop the valerian -- they both target the same neurotransmitter (now, if you really know your herbs, if you take the valerian far apart in time from the time you take your benzo, you can do it, but nobody not very well educated about herbs should take valerian and a benzo. Second, when do you take your magnesium? Benzos and antidepressants and other drugs that target brain neurotransmitters use the magnesium pathway to get past the blood/brain barrier.

Remember if you do take it you have to have a card with you that states this in case of emergency where you cannot tell them yourself. I just read this site and was warned to not get pregnant that it would not be a good idea.

Try taking a half a pill of Vicodin for a few first nights just to make it easier for yourself. Then you can take some Tylenol instead together with the ibuprofen. They work well together for pain. Never take Tylenol while taking Vicodin though, because you may ovedose on acetominophen and damage your liver further. You should not have much withdrawal on the dose you are on, so don't worry about it. Go0d luck to you and feel well.

valerian root can be calming too. do you have any aftercare in place. that's a good place(a meeting) to get all your frustrations out to a bunch of people who will understand. good luck!

I have high anxiety and have a problem sleeping. What other meds can i take in combination with the norcos (valium, xanex?) (somas, ambien?) I see my MD next week and want to be prrpared.

Try to stay as active as you can throughout the day. Also hot baths with epsom salts can help to relieve any pain or RLS you are having and relax you. Melatonin is a great supplement for sleep. Just hang in there. I promise your sleep will get back to normal!

For sleep aids, maybe get some Valerian Root and Melatonin. You can find those in most vitamin sections of any store. They have some natural something in them that makes the body relax some..Or eat alot of turkey! Its suppose to be loaded with melatonin..Always wondered why we were sleepy after a Thanksgiving Dinner?

I sometimes take some sleepy time tea with the same stuff in it...I dont think you can O/D on it but always take as directed especially if your on other prescription meds....

so can i take 20 mg of paxil er day and 60 mg of cymbalta and i also have diabeties so the cymbalta helps the place od lyrica because i cant afford lyrica so can i stay on both im very very very depressed

Fluoxetine (Prozac) is usually prescribed for depression, not anxiety. I would question my doctor about his choice of meds. That is simply my opinion. That he had you Xanax, which IS an antianxiety med makes sense, although I wish he would have made a different choice there as well. Another strong opinion. It's good that he is suggesting you now get off it. Do so ASAP. It should be easy for you to stop since you are taking it prn (as needed) and state that 30 pills last you 3 months.

re not sleeping. Try taking some valerian root, which you can get at Walmart, about an hour before you want to sleep. Valerian root is safe to take with these other drugs. Cymbalta really isn't for everyone. If you're not getting pain relief in 2 weeks, insist on something else. Avoid the narcotics, because they will just make things worse in the long run. If your dx is depression, please please please stay on top of the pain. Be as proactive as possible with diet and exercise.

Unfortunately, sometimes because of legitimate pain there is no choice but to prescribe opiates if the person is to have any quality of life. If I remember correctly, you said in your original post that your husband was snorting the oxys, wasn't he? If that was the case, and if the Lyrica isn't helpful, they do now make a new type of oxy that is unable to be snorted. If your husband ends up needing the oxy to get any appreciable relief from his pain, talk to the doctor about these.
