Can you take effexor and xanax together

Common Questions and Answers about Can you take effexor and xanax together

effexor

It can be a variety of stressful things going on all at once, or a chemical imbalance. Take panic attacks for example, one of these can make you feel like you are dying, or want to, but it's all related to the brain. This is the control center of our bodies and it doesn't take much to get it out of whack. Trust your doctor, you will feel much better on the meds.
I've been taking Effexor and Xanax together for about a year. I take the Effexor every day and the Xanax only when needed (most of the time it's only maybe twice a week). I've been doing fine on this combination, and although everyone is different, I think with the stress of the surgery and the anxiety of just getting off the Effexor in the first place might be why you're feeling the way you are. Just keep doing as the doctor has instructed and hopefully you should be feeling good again soon.
Think of this as just the difficulty you anticipated, and an opportunity to learn how to be more independent, which is now frightening you. See a therapist, and if you need some help before that online, you can go to www. masteringstress.com and take the session on transitions first.
You have to keep gently reducing it tiny bits at a time until you can function OK without it. And it might take a few weeks at a time before you reduce the dosage a little more. You just have to judge how you are feeling. It is very difficult though as you ween off you are tempted to grab for "just a little more, just for tonight only" and you have to fight that. Different people react somewhat differently when on the drug and when they try to get off from it.
I thought there would be no problem, so I was upset, I called the pdoc back and explained what was going on, he said well I guess you can take a 75mg effexor and your pristiq, why would he not know this? Why wouldnt he warn me? I understand the drug is from the same company but going from such a high dose of one to the new one killed me.
Start eating real fresh food, such as organic potato chips and pastas, and free range chickens. And get off the pills as best you can, and go ahead and be a little crazy. Is that so darn terrible? We are great people. We have feelings. So why, then, do they insist on putting us in a box where 1 size fits all? The other thing I did, was tell my doctor I was sick of being on the pills. I am a 55 year old man, and he talks to me as though I was a 5-year-old who has been a naughty boy.
Those are about the worst drugs that anyone can take. And it's funny how you can walk into any store and buy as much as you want of it and destroy your body as much as you want without anyone caring at all. Why do the people in Okinawa, Japan live the longest compared to anyone else in the world? Their diets consist of mostly vegetables and fish. They have the highest rate of people living over 100 years old in the entire world.
I really think, and others may disagree, that it all depends on how you take it and how you think of it. If it helps you, then I would take it - correctly (but that's just me). If u don't have an addiction problem then it shouldn't matter (and from what I read earlier, you don't). As long as you don't abuse, you really should be ok and when your ready to come off = just wean. Anyway - my opinion and I know that they are hard to come off of if you have a problem with them and all.
I think it is safer to Slowly taper off of Effexor XR then you should find out what the half life of Effexor is. Meaning how long dose it take to get completely out of your system after you take you last dose. Once it's out of your system then Start the Paxil. I dealing with some Withdrawal symptoms after coming off of Zoloft and I personally want these to be gone before I start another SSRI and I tapered off of the Zoloft very slowly.
Most importantly, when I lie awake at night, I look at my wife and think of all we have been through together – the good and the bad, and I curse myself for being so mean and cranky to my life partner who has stood by me through 7 previous years of treatment without a complaint – not to mention putting up with me even when I am not on treatment!
When you get the brain zaps, you can take 5 Omega3 in the morning and 5 again at noon. You can't overdose on Omega3. It is recommended that you don't take Omega3 after 4pm. This has worked for me so far, but it's the nausea and dry mouth today that is catching me off guard. Eating small amounts of raw foods is helping but the dry mouth is still here no matter how much water I drink.
I had taken valium for longer than a year and never suffered any adverse effects when I stopped so I was confused as to wether this was even related to the xanax at first. But when the twitching and confusion stopped all together when I was given more xanax, I knew. I tried to come off it slowly but it was very easy to over medicate. I went to this outpatient Dr that helps people detox and sure enough it was the xanax.
I am currently dealing with xanax addiction. And for me it is harder to get off of than narcotics. Is yor family member currenly on any ssri's like paxil, celexa,or effexor? those also cause very wierd and worrisome withdraws. I'm no doctor, but you can have w/d symptoms long after detachement from aprazolam. andyK.
Ok there are time you may need little more just go and take little but by the next day you can go on by with thr reduction. I am one of the few and i had a major problem to quiet and i was in a different enviroment and it was too hard but i did.
for some people its even the type of anti depressant and annixity medicane you take that can ether make it work or not work.. like for some people xanax and prozac can work against each other making annixity really bad but celexa and xanax work great together alot of times your have to try many different ones before you actually get the one that works for you. there is also valium, klonopin , effexor , lexapro , tranxene, diazepam..
Hi everyone, I have been taking Effexor for almost a year and in the last 5 months I have gained 50lbs. its awful and makes you feel so much worse about yourself, but also because on the effexor you lose interest in doing anything about the weight gain. I used to be very healthy and active and since taking heavy levels of effexor I just cant get myself to do anything. For all the benefits against depression it has, the side effects have made my life so much worse.
I called to see if I could take these meds together and i was told that you shouldn't take any thing like effexor ect.. with adderall cause it will cause problems. also i don't want to gain any weight.
first of all, I agree you should explore what this medication is doing for you, and if you want to taper, and you are sensitive, do it the way I suggest complete withdrawals. Plan on a three week campaign. during the first week you lower the dose as much as is comfortable. The second week you take dose down another notch. The third week you take it down to your goal. You should not have any withdrawal symptoms that way. Now let's look at this another way.
you can wwrite to me at lindamaupin @ webtv.net and i can write more if you want. You are a good daughter to search help for your Mom...
From personal expereince i am a user of Effexor and my dr and i have tried to take me off of it many of times, my body is literally medically depended on it. I "withdrawl" from it like i'm on drugs or something, i shake, sweat, cry, have massive mood swings and can't sleep. This medicine is very strong from depression I am on 150MG for 5 yrs so maybe why my symptoms are different. To say the least good luck and if u find nice way to get through it let me know.
At the level of usage you described, you will have no problem. but if you rely on it every day, and increase the dose, you are in the trouble zone, and xanax is a nasty addiction, so monitor yourself closely.
The clinic should have a card that they can pass out that tells you what medications can put you into withdrawal and what can cause an overdose. I have one at home and I keep it handy. Good luck to you but my opinion would be not to take it.
and it was due to xanax and not a drink....... good luck, and Vickie since yours is so new, if ya feel you would like to e-mail me ***@****, I am here for support and help, but the Dr's forums you have come across, so far he is great on giving out info,..... Much luck, hang in there, Kathy H.

If you want, you have the option of getting a second opinion from another psychiatrist, who is a bipolar isorder expert on the meds you are on. Ask your doctor and/or your insurance how you can get a second opinion, if you aren't satified with the answers your doctor gives you. When I got better for a lot longer I was still on a lot of meds. It was more than 5. I was on 7. The last one added on was effective enough to work on it's own.
I have the same question as Tinks343747. I go to the Dr. next week and am considering the switch. I have been on1 mg. 4x daily of xanax and am thinking it is not working anymore. My attacks have been getting more and more frequent even with it. Sometimes I have to take 5 - never more because it scares me. I have been doing this for five years now. I have full blown "I am having a heart attack" panic. Sweating, chest pain, shaking, thinking for sure this is my last day on earth.
My doc told me to take more xanax and gave me lexapro 10mg. I went home and quit the xanax cold turkey, I was convinced that I wasn't depressed that bad all of the sudden! Now it has been 5 days since I stopped it and I suffered AWFUL,HORRIBLE withdrawals, today seems better but I feel like I'm in a cloud. I hope this wears off soon. I think xanax is a scary drug & very addicting.
you can first turn inwards and really ask why you feel that, and see if it is because of the chemicals (which you can then dismiss as being a false feeling, it still *****, but if you know it's false then you can do you best to control it and are less likely to act on it) or something you that really feel- in which case you can work it out through self-analysis, meditation, writing, talking to a close friend, etc.
Out of desperation, I took a 75 mg Effexor XR today to try and make the shocks go away. I also took a half of a Xanax. Can you give me an idea of what's going on. I just want to make sure I'm not going crazy. Do you think I'm just not completely weaned off the Effexor XR yet? Has anyone else experienced these "electrical shocks"? My doctor said he has not heard of those before. He talked to the Lexapro representative and he said he's never heard of that before either.
- How long were you on xanax and how much we're you taking? - When did you stop xanax? - Did you taper? If so, how much were you taking when you quit? - How long were you on Sub, and at what dose? - When did you stop taking Sub? - Did you taper? If so, what dose were you taking when you quit? The Amino Acid Protocal we're both on hopefully will really kick in pretty quick. I'v been on it now only 1 week but even that seems to be taking it's time.
