I am currently trying to taper off of Lortab after a failed C/T attempt and am having sleep issues. I was wondering if any of you know if you can take Wellbutrin and Melatonin at the same time. I took Wellbutrin for a Post-Traumatic Stress situation last year and then stopped once my depression was mostly over and then I started using it again about two weeks before I decided to quit the pills in the hopes that it would help the depression that i knew would happen.
Chantix worked like a miracle for me. I wasn't that heavy of a smoker, about 1/2 pack a day, but I couldn't seem to quit for anything. Had been a 2 pack/day years ago. My dr perscribed me Chantix and I took and kept smoking, but the cravings got less and less until on Feb. 1, 2007 I took about 3 drags off a cig and put it out. That was the last one I had. Took the Chantix for a couple more weeks until the cravings were completely gone and I've been fine every since.
When you get clean, you need to take baby steps. You need to go easy. I think trying to quit smoking at the same time can't be good. I know for sure, in a rehab, they would say, don't do it. As far as the Chantix goes. That is going to affect the pleasure center of your brain. Same place as the pain meds do. I would do a lot more research before you take them. My own personal experience. I tried to quit smoking after I was 2 months clean.I lasted 28 days. I was so hyper all 28 days.
m worried that the combination of Cymbalta and Wellbutrin can cause this. Is the combintation of Cymbalta and Wellbutrin safe?

Your supposed to smoke for the first 2 weeks so your body builds up these receptor blockers and when the 2 weeks is up you quit all together. When I used chantix I quit after 2 weeks and didn't really have cravings, it was more them mental part that was a little harder.
You can do it tho :) The cravings don't last that long, during the cravings find something to do to take your mind off the smoking. I did laundry, cleaned, ate lol and before you know it, its gone.
I have a question for those of you who used the Chantix to kick the cigarettes. I have smoked on and off for years, and I have quit several times for long periods of time, but this time I am in need of some sort of assistance doing it (the thought of no cigarettes is worse for me than the thought of no norco ever was). I don't want to spend any more money on cigarettes, I hate the smell of cigarette smoke, I always have, pretty weird for a smoker, huh?
After taking Wellbutrin 150mg 2x daily and my Zoloft 100mg together fro the first time I woke disoriented and dizzy

Zyban is the same as Wellbutrin which is a commonly prescribed antidepressant and is an NDRI meaning norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitor.
So basically the concept of the medication is that when you quit smoking you quit getting your regular dopamine fix (the brain rewards you for smoking a cigarette by releasing dopamine which makes you feel good.) The zyban, over the course of a few weeks, stops your body from breaking down the natural dopamine in your brain as quickly.
I am on that combination and it works great. I was taking Lexapro 20 mg with Wellbutrin and was fine. How long have you been on Lexapro? My doc started me out slow with a week of 5 mg then 10 mg and so on. I know jumping into 20 mg for me was exhausting. Best of luck.
You might want to consider asking your doctor about chantix, but that depends on whether or not your taking anything else, and if you do go that route, do your homework.,,, ALL of these drugs have potentially seriouse side effects that should be carefully monitored by somone close to you most the time so they may report any strange behavior incase you cant.
Talk to your doctor before quitting as will reduce the dose gradually. And Lexapro can take a quite a while to take effect so it,s not uncommon that doctors prescribe anti-anxiety meds like benzos ( Ativan , bromazepam ) to deal with the panic attack and general axiety before Lexapro kicks in.

t have any neg effect together usually and are often perscribed together, to be sure I would call an all night pharmacist or your local pharmacist, they can give you more professional advice, I do it all the time. JUst ask them if you can tak ethe two together and they can tell you if you need to look for or worry with side effects, but I would think it is fine.
I, myself haven't been on them together, but my hubby takes both as well as effexor xr. Between his meds & mine we are well versed in the trial & error realm of how the doctors have had to go to help the two of us.
I second the Wellbutrin. It's really odd how it works. You will find yourself smoking fewer and fewer and before you know it, you're wondering when your last one was.... Good luck.
Yes Chantix can sometimes worsen symptoms of bipolar. I know Zyban is another smoking cessation aide but that is another name for the anti-depressent Wellbutrin and an anti-depressent alone in bipolar can often worsen mania. Those are the two that are clinically approved and in standard use. Others are in experimental use.
The problem is that if you stop taking it once your body is used to it you can feel low. In your case you are taking other drugs that are quite strong and it would be hard to determine which drug is having what effect. Ultram isn't recommended to be taken with a drug like Wellbutrin because Wellbutrin is a selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor and taking Ultram at the same time increases the risk of having a seizure so Ultram should at least be taken as long as possible after Wellbutrin.
Hi~I have been on anti-depressants but not at the time I took Chantix. I would even call the pharmacist and ask if there is potential for problems taking both together. I did have major side effects-mostly nightmares, bad sleep, bad stomach aches and nausea so I stopped it before I quit smoking. I have started it again just two days ago. I am taking it at night with over the counter sleep aid because I know that was the hardest part. It also makes me a little cranky.
Thank GOD they were both healthy babies. But now, after having a few miscarriages and knowing that nicotine can contribute, I would just NEVER consider it again.
So, maybe that is something that you need to think about. That it can cause a miscarriage. Are you prepared to handle that?
I wish you luck. I know that quitting smoking is one of the hardest things ever. The things they put in cigarettes these days is sickening...and it's just for this reason...so that NOBODY can quit.
