Common Questions and Answers about Can you take antibiotics during nursing

antibiotics

Avatar f tn Bactrim which is an antibiotic is NOT a safe antibiotic to take during pregnancy because it's a Class C and can be harmful.
Avatar f tn nah you can take them...they'll probably give you something basic like amoxicillin or penicillin. Your doctor will be able to tell you for sure that they're safe, but I've had to take them early in the first trimester before.
Avatar f tn For the Flagyl you should probably pump and dump while you take it. Its okay during pregnancy but there are some risks shown in animal studies when nursing.
Avatar f tn Its just the start of a urinary tract infection so whatever antibiotics your doctor prescribed shouldn't be an issue since women during pregnancy are more susceptible to UTI's. I know there are some meds you shouldn't take for UTI's while pregnant but I doubt your doctor would prescribe that. If you are ever worried about taking a medicine in pregnancy you can go to rxlist.com and look it up.
Avatar f tn Antibiotics will not get rid of a yeast infection. They can cause a yeast infection actually. Your doctor can prescribe Diflucan (not sure if I spelled that right) but it's a pill you take one time and your your yeast infection will be gone in 2 days.
Avatar f tn I am really hurting !! So after doing some research I decided to take the rest of my daughters antibiotics she has finished the course and there's some left due to them giving us 2 bottles !! Is this really bad ??
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if its ok to take antibiotics with riba? I'm not sure if I should take a dose of each together or should I wait and take the antibiotic (Avelox 400mg) separately. I'd rather take them together because each should be taken with food and I don't have much appetite so when I do manage to eat I'd like to get all the drugs down at once. Any input would be helpful.
Avatar f tn Definitely take the antibiotics. Uti is something that needs antibiotics to cure and if it goes untreated then can develop into a kidney problem which in some cases can cause early labour. Much safer to take the meds. I've been on the same antibiotics twice during this pregnancy and am now 36+ weeks and baby is perfectly healthy.
Avatar f tn m not sure about azithromycin there are safe antibiotics but not all are safe to take during pregnancy. Do not take anything without asking or seeing your Dr.
Avatar f tn my cousin was 5 months when her doctor prescribed her metronidazole and she recently lost her baby, i think she was high risk pregnancy which is why it happened but you should make sure you arent high risk n take other safer medicines. just be on the safe side try not to take it if you dont really need it.
Avatar f tn Check if your hospital has a list on their website. Mine provides a checklist, but basically, you should bring items to keep you occupied during Labor, such as music, books/journal, "stress grip" or whatever works for you during contractions, toiletries, 1-2 nightgowns you don't mind getting messy (unless you want to stay in their hospital gown), robe, slippers, socks, going home outfit for you and baby.
Avatar n tn What you also need is a urine culture and sensitivity test done. You can give it for culture and sensitivity in a sterile bottle. This will tell you what organism is causing the infection and what antibiotic will kill it permanently. You need a comprehensive investigation taking all these points in consideration. Please discuss this with your doctor and get yourself investigated accordingly. Do keep me posted. Take care!

Avatar n tn I've had no issues at all with my son or my pregnancy. I've not even mentioned it to my doctor but my midwife knows I'm still breastfeeding and was really supportive. You could try the kellymom website or the la leche league website for more information about breastfeeding whilst pregnant.
Avatar n tn As mentioned above, alot of antibiotics are safe to take during pregnancy. If you are still worried, talk to your OB/Gyn about it.
Avatar n tn Take the antibiotics, with my first son I had a uti but didn't realise until I was in the back of an ambulance with my womb contracting due to a uti at 18 weeks. I was started on an anti biotic drip & steroids to mature the baby's lungs.
Avatar f tn But you do what you gotta do. If you have to go to the store or run errands you can bring them. There is no rule saying you have to wait any amount of time, it's your child and your choice. I didn't bring my daughter out much except to grandmas house or doctors appointments. Not really because I was worried about her health but because it was easier to go to the grocery store or wherever without her.
Avatar f tn went to the doctor each time and they gave me antibiotics that are safe during pregnancy. It was the only thing that worked.
Avatar f tn t say for sure because there are different types of antibiotics and different dosages, etc. But I can tell you that in my last pregnancy I needed to take antibiotics for a tooth problem and it didn't seem to effect that pregnancy. My son just turned 1 yr and seems prefect to me. ;-) I was really worried about it too but I didn't really have a choice. I needed the meds. Thankfully everything turned out well.
Avatar f tn I know ed is right about this....you carry this, you don't get rid of it. It lies dormant in your system. Nursing homes are rampant with it. There was a time that Dr.'s weren't supposed to admit residents to nursing homes if they were carriers. Hospitals hardly ever test any more for it because it is so rampant. There is even crossover from the animal population. I know because my daughter, a Registered Vet Tech, got it from the animal surgical center where she works.
1840402 tn?1355432565 Left untreated it can travel to the kidneys and cause a kidney infection that can be dangerous to both you and your child. Amoxicillin is one of the most widely prescribed antibiotics during pregnancy and has not been shown to cause any harm to a human fetus. Take the medication to clear up the infection, the last thing you want is for it to get worse.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me I can drink tylenol cold Just one time not everyday and drink hot tea and get VapoRub
Avatar f tn Yes, during my 1st trimester, I had to take antibiotics. It didn't harm the baby, nor did it give me any side effects.
Avatar f tn What antibiotics are you taking? Did your dr prescribe these antibiotics for bronchitis knowing that you are pregnant?
