327369 tn?1326119908 P.S. Our meds are Xopenex, Pulmicort..........these do not work during a cold and we always end up on Orapred (steriod). He has to have it though...........but we are on this a lot -----do you worry about the side effects of this if you have a child. Thanks!
Avatar n tn My son had been diagnosed with pneumonia 4 times in the past four months, as well as bronchiolitis in between. He has been treated with Rocephin, Azithromycin, and Amoxil. He has breathing treatments 4 times a day (pulmicort & xopenex) has had 2 episodes of cyanosis, and been hospitalized for low oxygen satuation, wheezing etc. His pediatrician tells me I shouldn't panic and that he has asthma. He is only 13 mos old!
Avatar f tn Dec09 I was diagnosed with prinzmetal angina. I am on a channel blocker called procardia and nitro. Also pulmicort and albuterol. The pollen has been so high and I discovered a mold problem in my house. I have been using my rescue inhaler more, and the spasms in my chest are more frequent. Is it related? This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/206196'>Allergies and Epstein Barr Virus</a>.
Avatar n tn from everything that my little guy has been through I always maek sure that I also have a copy of his medical reports that way there if you go for a second opinion, then you have all of that stuff and you can be prepared. to ask questions or whatever.
Avatar n tn However, my son has been on other medications for sinisitis and bronchitis that could account for a headache. He now off of pulmicort, xopenex and nasonex. He is currently going through allergy testing as well. It is very difficult for me to try to determine the cause of the headache with so much going on with him. He is feeling completely better aside from this headache.
Avatar n tn Hi... I see that you are getting that four times a day. My doc prescribes that med for every 6 to 8 hours, not every 4 hours. I wonder if that is why you are having so much trouble. Xopenex isn't supposed to make your heart race as much..I am on Xopenex after my doc switched me from albuterol due to my heart arrhythmias (albuterol made them much worse) and it has been much better for me as long as I dont take it more than 3 times a day.
Avatar n tn He takes Singulair daily and takes Pulmicort and Xopenex as needed via nebulizer when he starts to show signs of coughing. My husband and I went to his parent-teacher conference yesterday - for pre-school - and we were advised by his team (speech therapist, psychologist, etc.) that we should discuss his behavior with our pediatrician. The other item that kept coming up was his attention span. Most of his intellectual skills - cutting, drawing, writing, etc - were up to par.
Avatar f tn He said that he must have gotten some sort of virus and it triggered his asthma. He told me to continue his Singulair, Pulmicort Respules one time a day, Xopenex in the nebulizer every four hours, and he prescribed Prednisone two times per day (dr. said to start the steroid only if the cough does not slow down). So on Wednesday morning, my son woke up at 6:30am coughing non-stop....coughing so much that he vomited!
Avatar n tn t become short of breath or wheeze, she does respond to asthma medications like pulmicort and xopenex (she had paradoxical bronchospasm to albuterol--very scary!) Needless to say I've done some reading on varient cough asthma and it sounds like she fits the bill. To make a long story even longer, it seems she gets leg cramps right before a coughing episode, in fact, I can almost predict an attack by when she tells me her legs are cramping. Why is this?
Avatar f tn he takes nebulizer treatments on a daily basis, pulmicort and if needed, xopenex, he cardiac issues, asthma and narrowing if his throat. he has been on these medications since he was 5 weeks old. today while he was at school he was very short of breath and not wheezing but could feel that junkie **** in his lungs, so they gave him a treatment, as they gave him his treatment his eyes rolled tothe back of his head and started to flutter, the person said this can happen during an asthma attack.
Avatar f tn My son's teacher just informed me that my son is having trouble completing his work. Not that he can't do it, but he is either talking or daydreaming. He is often easily distracted. She said this has been going on for about a month. Some days are better than others. He is at a new school, but has similar problems at his old school. They give him time do his work and he will either talk to other or just sit there. He does exhibit this behavior at home sometime while doing homework.
Avatar n tn Yes, a PFO can cause fatigue as the blood/oxygen level pumped into circulation may be compromised. More likely, the cause of being tired can be related to low blood sugar and anemia.
212161 tn?1599427282 (acts quickly) inhalers such albuterol can cause palpitations and arrhythmias. But this reaction is rare as long as you use the recommended dosage. Steroid inhalers are maintenance inhalers meant to prevent asthma attacks. They do not have cause palpitations and arrhythmias.
Avatar n tn hi, my question is can we mix albuterol, ipratropium, pulmacort together and the order is give these medication together by nebulizer.
212161 tn?1599427282 my steamer helps with a few drops of eucalyptus, also put a few drops on a clothe and keep next to you, breath in when you feel you need to. it does help. Practice breathing through your nose, don't breath through your mouth. A tea made with Oregano and honey also helps my breathing. I use the inhaler very rarely and then only half of what I am suposed to. I don't like being dependent on any medication. even if I only breath it in.
Avatar f tn Learn muscle testing or find someone that does it so that you can learn what your child can and can not eat. You might be surprised. Milk and milk products might be an issue, but this is not true for everyone, so you need to have her tested. Foods can affect the asthma, allergies and the immune system. I won't tell you not to vaccinate. I will tell to at least be careful and do your own research. Don't do too much at once.
Avatar n tn shtml Your body is tired from the anxiety, but stimulants make the anxiety worse. You should start exercising. Try sprinting as far as you can and then walking, then sprinting again and then walking. Then do stretching exercises - take your time. Do side bends like a ballerina. Bend your back backwards, using an exercise ball or just lie on your tummy and lift your shoulder area up while keeping pelvis on the floor, arching your back.
Avatar m tn My doctor prescribed Pulmicort Respules and gave me a Neilmed irrigator to apply the dose. Do I fill the Neilmed with water and pour the respule in the water and mix, and then apply? Or do I just put one respule in the irrigator and irrigate without diluting? There are no directions...I'm guessing that I dilute the solution but does that impact efficacy?
Avatar n tn Can you try giving him less at once and see if you can do it a little at a time? I take it you are talking about the xopenex ampules and not the xopenex spray? If its the spray then there might be something that can be given to him that is not as strong. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I am 32 and have suffered from migraines for about 3 years. They started pretty much out of the blue, however, a lot of people in my family suffer from them. I have tried nortriptaline, amitriptaline, verapamil, all without success. The first two didn't do anything for my migraines, and the verapamil made my blood pressure so low I couldn't function.
Avatar f tn t on any coverage for a while there ($120 per 2 weeks for advair and pulmicort is $137 for 3 1/2 months). You could also move to flovent which is the same steriod as advair but just singly. Welcome and let us know how it goes.
Avatar f tn I have to take claritan, flonase, and pulmicort. What kind of problems did you go through before you found out it was allergies and did the allergy shots work for you? What other things did you do to control your allergies?
Avatar f tn My child has done great on Pulmicort! Asthma is very serious and can get out of control fast. When your child turns 5 they may get allergy shots as treatment. Im not going to do that because there is risk involved. Read the risks of prolonged use of Albuterol and prednislone. They are devastating. Keep in mind, this may not be forever. Your child may grow out of this.
746512 tn?1388807580 What has help is monthly injections and or over the counter allergy medication (Claritin). Everyone is different, but yes, humidity can and for me a dense fog sent me to the emergency room for over 10 hours.
Avatar f tn also breaks it down, TOBI for my pseudomonas (if you culture pseudo, this might be a good drug for you, it is a nebulized form of tobramycin, I rotate 28 days on and 28 days off..it does a fairly good job at keeping my pseudo at bay) as well as pulmicort and Xopenex. Lots of nebs....I used to use mucomyst nebs but I found them to be too irritating and caused my airways to spasm even though I used Xopenex with the nebs. About your initial post...
454286 tn?1205883067 HI, my son (4 years old) has been coughing for a very long time with no answers from his doctors. His first xray in November of 2007 showed Atalectasis. Docs sent him home saying he had Croup and that atalectasis would clear up. Still coughing all these months, new pediatrician was diagnosed with Asthma in December. His asthma is also exercise induced. Saw pulmonologist and gave him Flow Vent and Albuterol inhalers , along with Decadron when the flare ups occurred and Croup.
