Common Questions and Answers about Can you get a urinary tract infection from your partner

infection

Avatar m tn It is possible that you do have a urinary tract infection... the burning sensation when you're voiding; plus the abdominal (pelvic?) sensitivity makes me think that. Have you noticed a foul smell or odd odor coming from your urine? Does the urine appear to be cloudy or strange in color? Because those could also be symptoms of UTI. Anyway, if it's an infection, it's usually easily treated with antibiotics.
Avatar m tn you won't be developing a std from oral sex 6 months ago now. uti's in males aren't all that common but they do happen. no reason to think this has a std related cause.
4251679 tn?1370305531 UTIs are exactly what their name describes. and infection in your urinary tract. its not in your vagina, however, ive always been told not to have sex while you have one because sex could be the cause of it. and its best to make sure its all better before introducing even more bacteria. Ive never heard of it being contagious, and dont think that it is, but ask your doctor. and ive also never had a cream to use, so im not sure what thats for.
Avatar f tn Remember that your urinary tract and your vaginal area are different so this has nothing to do with using no protection or being with your partner. It sounds like you either have a Bladder Infection, Urinary Tract Infection or a possibility of stones but that would be extremely painful and you would know this. Usually if you have a urinary tract infection this is also painful and causes burning when you urinate. Cranberry Juice and a lot of it will cure this.
Avatar m tn t find any infection in the urine. But they gave me antibiotics for a week just in case for a urinary tract infection. A week later I had a rash on my groind area and it looked like some blisters so I went to get an std test and the dr examined me and said it looked like herpes but she wasn't sure. So they took my urine again and drew blood. The woman I had sex with says the only symptoms she has was burning when peeing and said that she thinks whatever we got was from a towel.
1319223 tn?1274296441 Urinary tract infections When the urinary tract is invaded by germs, you are likely to suffer from a urinary tract infection. An untreated urinary tract infection can infect your kidneys and cause permanent damage. Most urinary tract infections occur through the urethra, the tube that transfers urine out of the body through the bladder.
Avatar f tn Why dont you just call your drs office or the weekend on call dr and have then send yoh a prescription to your pharmacy? A uti can turn into a kidney infection in a matter of hours and after that if left untreated long enough can become an infection in the blood that causes miscarriages. Utis are no joke and cranberry juice is no guarantee to help.
327668 tn?1224792350 Yes and it's horrible. I've had about the same during my pregnancy as well. Yes, UTI's make sure you get your prescription ASAP. I didn't I waited a week thinking water and cranberry juice would make it go away. I ended up getting pylneophritis and had to be on IV getting anitbiotic fluids. My doctor was upset saying that an untreated UTI can cause a miscarriage especially in early pregnancy. So take care of that ASAP.
Avatar n tn Sounds like you might have a urinary tract infection. Best to have it checked out by a medical professional. If you do have a urinary tract infection, the right kind of antibiotics should clear it up. In order to prevent something like this happening again, try changing your hygiene routine, e.g. after sex, don't lie there in each other's arms but get up and go to the toilet (urinate), dry yourself, etc. then come back.
Avatar f tn Listen to your Mom. UTI can be very unpleasant. She is right....you would know.
Avatar f tn and if u have unpretected sex with that person. u can also get urinary tract infection again. the best thing for u to do is, if your having unpretected sex, u and your sex partner should get treat.but make sure u see the doctor as soon as possible.
Avatar n tn Most likely an urinary tract infection. If you are a male, this is quite serious so seek medical attention. The infection can move up to your kidneys quite quickly. Urinary tract infection is not serious in females, but in males it is.
Avatar m tn You describe no reason to suppose your new partner has HIV, and your symptoms are not particularly suggestive of a new HIV infection, which does not typically cause diarrhea or nausea; a minor, garden variety viral infection is far more likely than HIV. And by the way, sex during menstruation does not materially increase the risk of HIV infection through vaginal intercourse.
Avatar n tn s are VERY very very very very common.....and you can GET a UTI from about a ba-zillion factors. IF the sex act was at ALL related to your UTI...it was likely due to bacteria on the INSIDE of your condom....not in any way related to your partner. If the condom did not fail....you had NO risk for HIV. ZERO, ZILCH, NADA, NONE. The two things....the UTI and your HIV anxiety are totally unrelated. PLEASE seek professional help to move on...
Avatar n tn You may not even have to bring your dog in for an exam if the urine is positive for a simple urinary tract infection (an infection without crystals). The vet can simply give appropriate antibiotics. If your dog has crystals in his urine, the crystals would need to be identified and treatment instituted. Crystals can be dangerous in male dogs because if they become large enough they can become lodged in the urethra and cause blockage (even in dogs, though more common in male cats).
Avatar n tn You could also have a UTI. Next time, make sure after you have sex, to go pee immediately! It's so important. Go to your doctor and get it checked, but UTIs can be cured with cranberry juice!
Avatar f tn I’m 20 years old. I have a urinary tract infection(coliform). A doctor prescribed Amoxicillin 625mg + Tamsulosin medicine for 10 days to me. I have a side effect after taking Tamsulosin (Retrograde ejaculation) or any other ejaculation problem. Is this normal or should I stop using Tamsulosin? Or will it (Retrograde ejaculation ) recover after stop using ten days? Should I keep getting Tamsulosin for 10 days or stop?
Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms it looks like chafing and urinary tract infection. Urinary tract (which consists of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and the urethra) infections are very common in young women. Symptoms of UTI are frequent urination, burning sensation during urination, passing of blood in urine and even fever. I suggest you to get your urine examination and urine culture done from a urologist.
Avatar n tn Burning pain during micturition (urination) is a symptom of Urinary Tract Infection. It is very common in females especially among those who are sexually active. Norflox is fine and should help it. Also you can consider keeping your genital area clean and then sitting in warm water with a bit of betadine solution in it. It disinfects and results are fast. If you are sexually active both you and your partner should practice clean sex that is wash your private parts both before and after sex.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone. I am a guy and I have been diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. Specifically "Morganella Morganii." When the doctor told me she said the specific urinary tract infection I have is very rare in men and was "strange" I could get it. I have never had a urinary tract infection in my life. The timing of it seems odd as it comes only one week after I had sex with a female escort.
Avatar f tn m not a doctor but it sounds to me like you got a yeast infection from the antibiotics for the urinary tract infection. A lot of doctors recommend eating yogurt while on antibiotics so you don't get yeast infections. You might want to try eating it now perhaps it will help. If you do you need to make sure it's yogurt with live bacteria. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn There are OTC herbal/omega treatments that boast they aid greatly in preventing UTI. I would ask your vet if he has a preference for one (or if it conflicts with his present treatment). The most important thing is to let your vet know of any additional treatments you try as the two of you seem to have a "game plan" in dealing with the issue. Has anyone else had any success with a particular brand of homeopathic treatment?
Avatar f tn I am wondering if a Urinary tract infection can cause a pregnancy test to be negative.
