1824921 tn?1317528674 I think maybe it's classified as narcotic now? My doc is looking at them different now...cutting me down because "they" are keeping an eye on how many is given out...the pharmacy says they're too. Your starting at a low dose which is great but your body is used to it so you're still going to withdraw. I'm going to cut my pills in half and then cut that piece in half. Thats what I'm going to do when I get lower...I'm down to 4 a day right now.

544292 tn?1268882668 Hi Tramadol Warriors, Many people have come here for many years, giving support and getting support. Because I still believe that Tramadol is unique in it's ... terror and torture of humans, this thread continues. The people who can understand what you are going thru are the people who have kicked it and there's people here who come back to lend a hand. You also will never need an understanding ear as much. You can do it. You can quit. You do not need to be a slave to Tramadol.

Avatar f tn I was on tramadol for 2 years and took 10 50mg tabs daily. amd OMG when I ran out it was pure hell. I would go into a state op panic just thinking about running out and then one day it happned big time. My pharmacy finally got me for filling them early and called my doctor and she cut me off.. The first day wasnt bad because I had 3 tabs left that I tool in the morning. As the day progressed I started to feel tired and just didnt feel like myself.
Avatar m tn In your case, if you start having discontinuation symptoms, I would suggest taking about half of what you WERE taking, and stay on that dose for a few days. Then cut that in half for three more days, and then stop. Your symptoms will be minimal if you follow that schedule.
Avatar f tn I know it sounds daft but he was told to try and eat a small handful of brazil nuts throughout the day they are a brill form of iron and they did seem to help. Hang in there you are doing really well. I wish you all the best for rest of tx.
Avatar m tn Hi there- You're not taking very much of either one so maybe you can stop the Norco and taper the Tramadol. Tramadol is addicting and many people have a rough time with wd's so I would taper it off a little. Seizures are reported with Tramadol when taking in high doses and when abruptly stopping from high doses. Again, you don't take much so just cut back a little bit over a period of time and you should be fine. You can also ask the prescribing doctor for advice with this.
351317 tn?1204751871 The 10mg zyrtec is too strong for me so can I cut it in half and take 5mg instead?

Avatar m tn At the dose you are on, you could probably stop c/t without much risk, but if you are wanting to cut the pills in half for a while that would certainly be better! Can I ask, why you want to stop? Do you feel your dependent on them?
Avatar f tn I have a herniated disc l5-s1, I have been on tramadol 2-50mg pills every 3-4 hrs due to the severe pain and vicodin as needed when therapy got really painful, the dr told me to take 2 pills but failed to change it in the computer now I'm cut off till 2 weeks from now . I'm in chronic pain and have about 25 vicodin left. I'm worried about the withdrawl symptoms from the tramadol.
Avatar f tn I've had some suggestions to cut the pills in half, but I have capsules, not tablets and they cannot be cut in half. What should I do??
544292 tn?1268882668 s not the most alarming part of Tramadol in my case. In my case the antidepressant that they tacked on to the cocktail is the thing that causes all the rough psychological and mental symptoms. It's a Two Fer One! I've been feeling like I was going crazy for a long time. And in addition to that; the scary suicidal ideation. The suicidal ideation vanished and returns ONLY if I get a flare up of withdrawal symptoms. That happens if I get over stressed. So i need some coping mechanisms.
Avatar f tn I realize this may sound strange but I was wondering if any of you have a "pill cutter" at home or do you just cut your pill in half with a knife? I am cutting down on the dose of my beta blocker per my Doctor and I was wondering if I have to purchase a pill cutter or can I just cut it with a knife or razor? I am a little anxious because you aren't supposed to "crush or chew" these pills and I'm afraid that if I cut it.......perhaps it will be crumbly.
Avatar f tn I was addicted to tramadol for a year and a half......can I help? I got off of them....it was hard but I did it...let me know if I can help.
680303 tn?1239984840 Your taking Morphine time release you should not cut in half... Also taking Valium , Tramadol and your stomach is swelling My advice would be to go back to your Dr. tell him you want off the Morphine get your Liver checked out as it could be enlarged... I would also talk to him about the Tramadol as it is not good for long term pain.. You will need to taper off the Valium he/she could also help you with this.. You will receive support here on whatever choices you make..
1322679 tn?1274583713 umm try getting off tramadol slowly cut the pills in half and half again i done this and it wrks
796687 tn?1237333243 The best way I have seen to help minimize the WD is to go down one pill a week this gives your body time to adjust to each drop. You can do this I have been off it for a year and a half now .You will get there we will be here to help.
551207 tn?1221462351 t know about Tramadol. Are you ulitmately trying to quit all these meds? Like using the DHC to get the methadone out of you and then taper of those drugs? Whats your plan?
Avatar f tn Did you just STOP taking the tramadol? It must be tapered. Stopping cold is dangerous. I would try to gradually drop down by half a pill every week or two weeks. I'm not an expert though. Your symptoms are very common to withdrawal. There are several on the forum who have experience with this drug. If you stopped cold turkey,I would go back to the two a day today and begin to taper down in a few days. But,get back on it so you don't get really ill...
1059594 tn?1261323966 Isn't Opana Time Released? I know you're the doctor, but I don't think you should inform people to cut their medications in half, ESPECIALLY if they're time released as this could cause a rapid release of all the medication in turn making her more sick, or am I wrong? This discussion is related to New Medication - Side Effects.
Avatar n tn Hey there...you cannot cut the dose in half....i would call your doctor and see if he/she can change your meds or if it's ok to stop..Levaquin can be given in 250, 500 & 750 mg doses...I was on Levaquin earlier this year for uti and had horrible side effects, so i just stopped taking the meds...I had horrible heart pounding, swollen knees and it felt as if someone had beaten the crap out of me with a baseball bat...
Avatar m tn From what I've read, 6-7 hours is the half life in most people. From http://www.opioids.com/tramadol/prescribe.html "The plasma half-life of tramadol following a single and multiple dosing was 6 and 7 hours, respectively. This increase in half-life upon multiple dosing is not considered to be clinically significant or to warrant dosage adjustment for chronic use." I've also read that 5x the half life takes you to a level that's deemed insignificant.
