can you cut concerta in half

My plan is to switch to a med I can take and slowly cut the pills in half and taper off. You can’t cut the concerta since it’s extends release. Please anyone give me an idea on what I should do to get off this.

Lack of sleep at night can seriously mess you up. Usually, you are not even aware of it. That would explain the way you feel, and why it is so hard to get going in the morning. I certainly would have thyroid levels checked out, along with iron levels, etc. Basically, a good blood analysis looking at all factors. You never really mentioned what the side effects were of the Concerta that was bothering you. You have gone from a mid range dose to the smallest dose.

you should work out a taper plan with your doctor. i dont think you should have cut the dose in half. those increase in your emotions is normal for paxil. is the same doctor prescribing both meds? are you taking the paxil for depression? the vyvance could definitely also cause an increase in your irritation, anger and rage. i would definitely talk with your doctor.

I know it sounds daft but he was told to try and eat a small handful of brazil nuts throughout the day they are a brill form of iron and they did seem to help. Hang in there you are doing really well. I wish you all the best for rest of tx.

The 10mg zyrtec is too strong for me so can I cut it in half and take 5mg instead?

that is sweet spot but a small ammount of alprazolam will overpower MPH and if it does you will need literally half bottle of Concerta, this is my experience and I say for mayority of other reports that i red in last 2 years so you are safe but take 1mg xanax more and no cleaning...

I don't know what concerta is hon. But I wish you and your family well. I would try to get maybe a peer of his(an uncle maybe or something?), to try to get him to go to a doc and be checked out. Cause parents have a hard time listening to they're kids sometimes, ya know? So if he has a best friend or close relative I'd speak to them about it. Thats just one womans opionion. I know you're the doctor, but I don't think you should inform people to cut their medications in half, ESPECIALLY if they're time released as this could cause a rapid release of all the medication in turn making her more sick, or am I wrong? i was a little back taken with the diagnose as you can imagine.but he is showing signs of asperger symptons.but he is very functional.im on line just learning myself about this condition and would really like to know if there are support groups in my area.and if there are special classes for children to learn social skills.etc. i also have a 9 yr old with add.will my children be able to live a healthy normal life!must my AS child be on so many meds is it going to help!

Hey there...you cannot cut the dose in half....i would call your doctor and see if he/she can change your meds or if it's ok to stop..Levaquin can be given in 250, 500 & 750 mg doses...I was on Levaquin earlier this year for uti and had horrible side effects, so i just stopped taking the meds...I had horrible heart pounding, swollen knees and it felt as if someone had beaten the crap out of me with a baseball bat...

Yes its ok to cut it in half. It should have a little place on the pill where to cut it. If you want to be absolutely sure you can always ask your pharmacist.

Hi Bill! Wow - 54 mg? Did you start off on a lower dose? That sounds awfully high... I've been on methylphenidate for about three years. (I take the brand Ritalin, but I'm pretty sure Ritalin and Concerta are about the same thing.) I started off on 5 mg, three times a day (of the non extended release) and I got a lot of benefit from it.

If you do not want to call your doctor again, and until you see another doctor, just call the pharmacist that you use and confirm that you can cut the pill. I believe that you can, but I am not an expert. I know that you can cut the pills for Ritalin and Metadate but not Concerta. You might ask the pharmacy for the literature that comes with the medicine. Sometimes it states in the paperwork if you can cut the pill.
