Can you cut bystolic in half

Common Questions and Answers about Can you cut bystolic in half

bystolic

Avatar m tn I can't handle the 5 mg, so I cut in in 1/2. It is also available in a 2.5 pill. I works much better.
Avatar n tn Original bystolic dose 10 mg, I cut in half and feel better with that. When I see the doctor we may make further dosing adjustments. By the way, it is hard to sleep when the heart is flip flopping like that, stay off the left side. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I take Bystolic too and I have also noticed a weight gain. I too haven't changed my eating habits. I am beginning to think it's the Bystolic because I usually can lose weight very easily, but I can't lose it now at all no matter what I do. You mentioned your systolic readings, mine do the same thing in the afternoons.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the reply, When i stared taking the BB at the recommend dose it made me feel awful so the Dr thought that maybe it was slowing the bottom of my heart down to much so he cut it in half. then I noticed at a half of dose i didn't feel as bad but i would get pressure in my head, shortness of breath and a awful sharp pain right in my heart like some jab something in it. I took the BB for a year. Bystolic is the newest BB on the market in the U.S.
Avatar m tn I also suffer from PAC/PVCs and have for many years. I also am into biking and sometimes when on long rides I start to have them in the middle of it and it freaks me out. Here is what I found out so far. I was put on an event monitor last Month and it was on for 22 days. At the same time, I was put on 100mg Zoloft, 2.5 mg bystolic and Xanax to calm me down. Well, My condition went from maybe 15 a day to 14,400 and it was all recorded on the monitor.
Avatar f tn I've been on Bystolic for 5 year's, I had a EKG that showed one Artery was partially blocked from " Stress" I get a tightness in my Pectoral muscle and the Bystolic stops it, I'm very Grateful for Bystolic, Hope you find something that helps you! Take Good Care!
Avatar m tn I am fairly certain, however, that the Bystolic has caused joint and muscle pain especially in my knees. Is anyone else taking Bystolic experiencing this same side effect?
Avatar n tn Hi there! A pulse pressure of 90+ does seem pretty high to me. While your systolic reading doesn't seem crazy high, your distolic reading (50) seems low. The primary thing that effects my systolic reading is stress and anxiety, I can get a pretty wide pulse pressure (my systolic shoots up) when I am anxious during a reading. I am also on bp meds so my distolic stays fairly regular all the time. What dosage of Bystolic are you on?
Avatar m tn My worry is my heart beat is too slow for Bystolic. One of their warnings is not to take it if you have a slow heart beat, is mine too slow? I have had spikes in blood pressure releated to stress a few years ago, but when the stress was gone so was the higher blood pressure. I always have had , on occation, a skipping heart beat. I dont know if that matters......Also would Bystolic hamper my workouts?
Avatar n tn bystolic is a fairly new drug in the U.S. It's been being used in Europe for a while. I have had far fewer side effects from it than from the atenolol. The atenolol did nothing for PVCs and PACs for me, in fact, it actually seemed to make them worse. I've been taking bystolic since November..so far so good.
Avatar f tn I know it sounds daft but he was told to try and eat a small handful of brazil nuts throughout the day they are a brill form of iron and they did seem to help. Hang in there you are doing really well. I wish you all the best for rest of tx.
Avatar n tn My knees also ache. The worst part is I am exhausted all the time. I have also put on 15 pounds in the couple of months I've been taking it. It is controlling my heart rate. I also take Micardis.
351317 tn?1204751871 The 10mg zyrtec is too strong for me so can I cut it in half and take 5mg instead?
Avatar n tn I started Bystolic about 3 months ago and have been having increasing pain in the right side of my neck, my right shoulder, right shoulder blade area, and upper right arm. I am also getting weakness in my right arm and hand. If I turn my head in given direction the pain goes right to my right shoulger blade area. The doc gave me muscle relaxers but they did nothing. I also had an MRI done but it also showed nothing.
Avatar f tn I've had some suggestions to cut the pills in half, but I have capsules, not tablets and they cannot be cut in half. What should I do??
Avatar f tn I realize this may sound strange but I was wondering if any of you have a "pill cutter" at home or do you just cut your pill in half with a knife? I am cutting down on the dose of my beta blocker per my Doctor and I was wondering if I have to purchase a pill cutter or can I just cut it with a knife or razor? I am a little anxious because you aren't supposed to "crush or chew" these pills and I'm afraid that if I cut it.......perhaps it will be crumbly.
1933354 tn?1323362834 Thank you for your response. I am thinknig my anxiety is making me believe I am having side effects, like tight chest, shortness of breath. I don't have any symptoms a majority of time I am on the med. I will give it some more time I suppose.
Avatar f tn My doc LOVES Bystolic. Both are Selective Betablockers and they say Bystolic has little or no side effect. I would give it a try. I have not used either but have heard very good things about it.
1059594 tn?1261323966 Isn't Opana Time Released? I know you're the doctor, but I don't think you should inform people to cut their medications in half, ESPECIALLY if they're time released as this could cause a rapid release of all the medication in turn making her more sick, or am I wrong? Avatar n tn Hi GranRon- I just started taking bystolic about two weeks ago. While I'm on a very low dose (2.5mg/day), it still seems to be pretty effective in keeping me out of A-fib. I've been on metoprolol before, and had some awful side effects with that one, but the bystolic seems to tame those down quite a bit for me. I've only had two instances in which I could tell I was experiencing some slight side effects (dizziness, slight shortness of breath, pressure).
Avatar n tn Hey there...you cannot cut the dose in half....i would call your doctor and see if he/she can change your meds or if it's ok to stop..Levaquin can be given in 250, 500 & 750 mg doses...I was on Levaquin earlier this year for uti and had horrible side effects, so i just stopped taking the meds...I had horrible heart pounding, swollen knees and it felt as if someone had beaten the crap out of me with a baseball bat...
Avatar f tn Yes its ok to cut it in half. It should have a little place on the pill where to cut it. If you want to be absolutely sure you can always ask your pharmacist.
Avatar m tn I seen my cardiologist today and he found out Bystolic is not available here in canada. I guess it didn't pass our food and drug regulations, so now Im going to try almighty- (Acebutolol) 200mgs twice a day if that doesn't reduce pvc palpitations, bump it up to 400 mgs twice a day.. Im finally going to find out what all the hype is about and if this drug actually works that many people claim. I see the cardio dr.
Avatar m tn •Have a slow heartbeat or your heart skips beats (irregular heartbeat) I'm guessing that my doctor thinks my heart palpitations are not considered an irregular heartbeat? I'll ask him but I found this a little scary.
Avatar f tn Is anyone taking Bystolic for high blood pressure? I had a stress test and my BP was off the charts - Cardiologist said he was watching my BP over my several visits (over a 9 month period). It's been elevated every time I see him - My regular doctor never commented that my BP was high - always within normal range - sorry to say it, I believe that the girls that take the bp in the office, have no clue on how to take it 'properly'. This is my opinion of course.
