usually, you get taught how to breathe during a panic/anxiety when the asthma happens. inhalers and steroids can make you nervous and jittery.. have you tried holding a pillow on a table, bending your stomach over to hold on to it, and doing big, long inhales through "pursed" lips, o shape mouth with long, slow release of exhaled breath about 3 or 4 times or used an incentive spirometer to get you started on it? Usually best after you use your inhaler medication?

I started with 150mg for the first week.I had the shakes first thing in the morning and very anxious. I started with300mg one week later and have been on that dose for 2 weeks. I feel I am just now starting to feel better. My mornings are still a little shakey but I feel much better as the day goes by. I don't think I could have started with a higher dose than the 150mg. Everyone is different but don't hesitate to tell your doctor if you feel you would like to start a little slower.

you won't be on a time release with standard metoprolol that is why you need to take it twice a day. I don't know why you have to cut in in half, Wal-Mart has generic metoprolol in 25mg tablets for $4.

Talk it over with your cardiologist to see if you can try 50 mg XL once a day. If she agrees you can split you 100 mg tablets - if necessary buy a pill splitter. Here I assume you'll get a chance to see what 50 mg will do and I further assume you didn't have serious side effects at the 25 mg level.

Unbelievable. I was on 25mg (mind you 25mg) of Toprol XL for several years until the cardiologist said: "That is bad stuff, get rid of it". Per his instructions, I cut the pills in half and took those for 10 days and then took the now 12.5 mg every other day for another 10 days. I had no ill effects. I can't, obviously, comment on your condition but 300mg of that stuff every day is frightening to me.

I know it sounds daft but he was told to try and eat a small handful of brazil nuts throughout the day they are a brill form of iron and they did seem to help. Hang in there you are doing really well. I wish you all the best for rest of tx.

The Toprol XL (Metoprolol Succinate) tablet should not be cut in half. Doing so defeats it's time release properties. If you want to mess with dosages (and I don't think you should), the generic Metoprolol Tartrate (referred to as just Metoprolol) can be cut in half without a problem. I take an odd, 75mg. Per day; 50mg at dinner, and 25mg (half a pill) upon rising. Think of your dose level as a "starting dose level".

Toprol has a half life of 7 hours which means after 7 hours half the dose is out of your system. After another 7 hours the remaining amount is cut in half again and so on until it's gone.

Hey there...you cannot cut the dose in half....i would call your doctor and see if he/she can change your meds or if it's ok to stop..Levaquin can be given in 250, 500 & 750 mg doses...I was on Levaquin earlier this year for uti and had horrible side effects, so i just stopped taking the meds...I had horrible heart pounding, swollen knees and it felt as if someone had beaten the crap out of me with a baseball bat...

Yes its ok to cut it in half. It should have a little place on the pill where to cut it. If you want to be absolutely sure you can always ask your pharmacist.
