Can you cut an ambien cr in half

Common Questions and Answers about Can you cut an ambien cr in half

ambien

Avatar f tn Then, 30 minutes before actually going to bed I give him Ambien CR. The regular Ambien was not working at all. Ambien CR on the other hand seems to calm him down and there has been less action. I also placed a body pillow between us and that seems to curtail some of the aggressiveness. It gives him less space to move around and I feel safer. Yes, he speaks while he is asleep, (more of gurgutal sound than words) but it has come down a bit.
763205 tn?1234422576 I have been taking Ambien/Ambien CR for several years now. I switched from the regular Ambien when the Ambien CR became available. Two nights ago I took my nightly migraine medications and my Ambien CR. I remember being awake for about 45 mins after that and then I remember nothing. Some how I was unconscience when I took 8 more Ambien CR 12.5 mg. I remember nothing after that. I went on a wild rampage in my room and destroyed everything in sight and I do mean everything.
Avatar f tn I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
Avatar f tn on my worst night, i think i took 9. i always cut them in half to bypass the slow-release. at one point i was snorting it, but it gave me a sore throat so i stopped. i need to sleep. i don't know how to do this. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. i don't smoke pot, and i don't know if that would improve this at all. i don't know. i don't know. i just need to SLEEP.
Avatar n tn I was an X XTC addicted so Ambien may of played a roll into my addiction to sleeping MEDS . Man what im such a joke I know ... after typing this in you can clearly see how weak I became ! I allowed human nature to bring me down and my hate for the church made me even weaker . I remember this girl from church asked when I got off the bus from Youth camp .
783281 tn?1259691431 the ambien CR can also cause the groggy feeling in the most because of its two part release... if you dont like this i would ask the doctor for regular ambien either 5mg or 10mg. its the only sleep aid that works well for me. helps me sleep and aside from the fact that im always fatigued because of other problems, i never have that hang over feeling from it. im not a doctor, but it is just a suggestion because i have had experience with both the traz and the CR.
Avatar f tn m taking the Ambien CR and THANK GOD FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!! I tried regular Ambien and had 2 nights in one week that I only got 2 hours of sleep... which didn't help with the depression or Riba Rage. I still wake up often, but am able to go back to sleep now. I have no problem with feeling bad the next day. I'm on Effexor for the depression. My feelings about the sx: Right now the most important thing is to kill this dragon... whatever it takes.
1102799 tn?1269237714 Fairly soon my Ob-gyn switched me to Ambien CR 12 mg and this worked quite well (1/2 at night and 1/2 in the middle of the night) - I definitively prefer Ambien CR to regular Ambien. PS: be careful if you try to switch to Lunesta, a friend of mine did that and he started to sleepwalk!!
Avatar m tn However the ambien can make you groggy/hungover/etc in the morning. It may be safer to stay on the alprazolam but increase to 1 mg. I know the others will kill me for suggesting that but it doesn't sound like you have a problem with the meds,do you? Ambien is a pretty strong med (so is xanax/alprazolam) and both are addictive if used improperly so please talk to your doctor about how you are feeling physically after the ambien.
Avatar f tn t said if he is taking Ambien or Ambien CR. The Ambien CR helped me MUCH more than the regular Ambien. Of course I never slept the whole night through but a few hours then I'd wake up about 2 but I was able to go back to sleep usually even if it was several times a night. Good luck, I've never been much of a good sleeper but if it gets that bad I would seek out a sleep clinic doctor place - he could have sleep apnea or something that is compounding the situation.
649598 tn?1239117215 I am actually taking Klonopin now myself, in addition to Ambien CR, and it works great. .5mg in the morning and the same at bedtime, followed by the 12.5mg Ambien CR. Do you take any antidepressants? I also take Effexor XR and Cymbalta which regulate my anxiety very well and has nearly fully restored my ability to sleep which I had all but lost just a few months ago.
Avatar n tn Ambien CR does come in 12.5 mg -- I have some. the regular ambien does not, but ambien CR does. just clarification.
Avatar f tn t cover Xanax at all and even denied an exception when my doctor tried. So he changed me to 10mg Ambien along with the 100mg Trazadone. No problems. Then a visit to my PCP for the Orthostatic Hypotension and he told me to go off those two drugs and gave me a script of 3 days with 1 refill of Ambien CR to see how I would react to that. After the 3 nights I started sleeping 18 to 20 hours of a 24 hr. period plus felt completely out of it.
1139187 tn?1355706647 s the case you should ask your doctor if maybe you can get hold of Ambien CR so that it can stay in your system for a longer period of time
Avatar m tn When drug companies lose their patents such as in Ambien and Paxil, they change the formulations, such as in CR, and wham, they have the patent again. I think 30 Lorazapam cost me 81 cents and 30 Paxil 40 cents.
323551 tn?1255174750 If your not using the Ambien CR, and just Ambien...I would swtich to the CR. It helps you sleep longer (from experience). The benadryl is probably what is causing the "fog" the next day. You could also try clondidine for a week or two, .1mg twice per day. It will help you sleep at night, as well. I have had luck with the clonidine and am using the Ambien CR right now as I taper down.
Avatar m tn Ambien CR costs $200 versus $6 for the regular stuff. We did talk about it, and I wanted it, but at $200 a month it just ain't gonna happen. So I'm sticking with the Ambien for now. I don't really want to take higher dosages of temazepam. And like you say, getting off of ambien isn't that difficult, just a bit time consuming as you ramp down the dosage.
1201433 tn?1328997637 Hi, I was on Lunesta for the entire tx and it worked great. Ambien comes in two forms one is extended ambien, do you know which one you are on? You should talk to your Dr about which one you are on.I took regular ambien long before tx and it didn't work too well for me either. Best of luck....
Avatar f tn Have you tried also taking Tylenol before bedtime, to keep the pain from waking you up? I tried Ambien and Ambien CR, I sleep well with it but it gives me horrible day-long headaches the next day so I've stopped taking it. I take a Clonazepam and a Benadryl before bed, Tylenol too if I think I need it, and sleep pretty well most of the time. Lately the dreams have been wild, though!
Avatar f tn What time do you get up? I don't know anything about ambien, but on the commercials it says "make sure you can devote at least 8 hours to sleep before taking it." If your not getting 8 hours or more of sleep, maybe that is why you are tired and anxious the next day??? Something to think about...
Avatar n tn Ambien is available in 5mg dosage...might be the right thing for you if you are splitting the 10mg ones in half.
Avatar f tn If you use it to help with withdrawals such as insomnia, that's what it sounds like you asking, you're only substituting another drug in place of the other(s) . Then again, it's probably worked as a 'bridge' for some people to make the withdrawal easier. But as mentioned above, it is addicting and often just prolongs the process more.
763205 tn?1234422576 I think that you should hand the Ambien over to someone who can keep them away from you after you take one tablet and get in bed, to prevent you from getting into them at night. If you don't have anyone there who can hold them for you, you might try leaving them in your car and only brining one into the house at night.
222369 tn?1274474635 But every body is different and although most professionals will tell you there are no physical withdrawls when stopping ambien, since it can be cut in half there's no harm in taking extra causion to make sure your safe. But i would think that the seizure warning is either new, or maybe for ambien CR because when I was taking them in the past there was no such warning. So perhaps someone had a seizure while going off.
Avatar n tn I seemed like most people to wake up after about 4 hours (even on the CR Ambien time release) but I could fall back asleep again. And again. And again. So I got some sleep. It did help. Most docs have no problem prescribing sleeping meds for hep patients - they know how difficult it can be.
Avatar f tn If you took 16mg today, in an hour and a half, the Naloxone would be gone from your system. But the Buprenorphine has a half life of 37.5 hours. Meaning, in 37.5 hours, you would still have 8mg of Buprenorphine in your body. 37.5 hours later, you would have 4mg in your body. 37.5 hours later, you would have 3mg left. 37.5 hours later, you'd have 1.5 mg left. 37.5 hours later, you'd have .75mg. HOWEVER! And this is the weird part!!
