Common Questions and Answers about Can you break bystolic in half

bystolic

Avatar f tn I've been on Bystolic for 5 year's, I had a EKG that showed one Artery was partially blocked from " Stress" I get a tightness in my Pectoral muscle and the Bystolic stops it, I'm very Grateful for Bystolic, Hope you find something that helps you! Take Good Care!
Avatar m tn Thanks I will try and do that. The Dr said it could be muscle strain.
Avatar m tn I am fairly certain, however, that the Bystolic has caused joint and muscle pain especially in my knees. Is anyone else taking Bystolic experiencing this same side effect?
Avatar n tn bystolic is a fairly new drug in the U.S. It's been being used in Europe for a while. I have had far fewer side effects from it than from the atenolol. The atenolol did nothing for PVCs and PACs for me, in fact, it actually seemed to make them worse. I've been taking bystolic since November..so far so good.
Avatar n tn I started Bystolic about 3 months ago and have been having increasing pain in the right side of my neck, my right shoulder, right shoulder blade area, and upper right arm. I am also getting weakness in my right arm and hand. If I turn my head in given direction the pain goes right to my right shoulger blade area. The doc gave me muscle relaxers but they did nothing. I also had an MRI done but it also showed nothing.
Avatar n tn Original bystolic dose 10 mg, I cut in half and feel better with that. When I see the doctor we may make further dosing adjustments. By the way, it is hard to sleep when the heart is flip flopping like that, stay off the left side. Good luck.
1933354 tn?1323362834 Thank you for your response. I am thinknig my anxiety is making me believe I am having side effects, like tight chest, shortness of breath. I don't have any symptoms a majority of time I am on the med. I will give it some more time I suppose.
Avatar n tn My knees also ache. The worst part is I am exhausted all the time. I have also put on 15 pounds in the couple of months I've been taking it. It is controlling my heart rate. I also take Micardis.
Avatar m tn I can't handle the 5 mg, so I cut in in 1/2. It is also available in a 2.5 pill. I works much better.
Avatar f tn My doc LOVES Bystolic. Both are Selective Betablockers and they say Bystolic has little or no side effect. I would give it a try. I have not used either but have heard very good things about it.
Avatar n tn Hi GranRon- I just started taking bystolic about two weeks ago. While I'm on a very low dose (2.5mg/day), it still seems to be pretty effective in keeping me out of A-fib. I've been on metoprolol before, and had some awful side effects with that one, but the bystolic seems to tame those down quite a bit for me. I've only had two instances in which I could tell I was experiencing some slight side effects (dizziness, slight shortness of breath, pressure).
Avatar m tn I take Bystolic too and I have also noticed a weight gain. I too haven't changed my eating habits. I am beginning to think it's the Bystolic because I usually can lose weight very easily, but I can't lose it now at all no matter what I do. You mentioned your systolic readings, mine do the same thing in the afternoons.
Avatar m tn I seen my cardiologist today and he found out Bystolic is not available here in canada. I guess it didn't pass our food and drug regulations, so now Im going to try almighty- (Acebutolol) 200mgs twice a day if that doesn't reduce pvc palpitations, bump it up to 400 mgs twice a day.. Im finally going to find out what all the hype is about and if this drug actually works that many people claim. I see the cardio dr.
Avatar m tn •Have a slow heartbeat or your heart skips beats (irregular heartbeat) I'm guessing that my doctor thinks my heart palpitations are not considered an irregular heartbeat? I'll ask him but I found this a little scary.
Avatar f tn honey, i would break them in half and wait until you start to feel the withdrawal symptoms begin, then try a half. you are going to have withdrawal. i have been off them for about a month and it was hard. i went to the doctor that was giving them to me. i brought him a copy of the thomas recipe(lower right of this page) and he prescribed me some valium to use for the first 5 days. i was on darvs for like 20 years taking about the same amount as you. if you want to pm me, please feel free.
Avatar f tn Is anyone taking Bystolic for high blood pressure? I had a stress test and my BP was off the charts - Cardiologist said he was watching my BP over my several visits (over a 9 month period). It's been elevated every time I see him - My regular doctor never commented that my BP was high - always within normal range - sorry to say it, I believe that the girls that take the bp in the office, have no clue on how to take it 'properly'. This is my opinion of course.
15256956 tn?1439425231 t know about the dosages for Bystolic, if you were prescribed a similar level as the Metoprolol, that could be the reason that you feel beat. You might want to look into that. I would get clusters of PVC after a bad night of sleep before CPAP therapy. My heart would skip for several days afterwards. I still get them in clusters particularly during the summer. Once the cool weather hit, they vanish. It's a mystery to me, and my physician says not to worry about them.
Avatar n tn I am scheduled to see a cardiologist in a week and a half. I have been monitoring my blood pressure and it tends to hover in the 130-135 / 80 range. I am quite worried about the increase in PVCs. Am I at an increased risk of cardiac death? Will I have a shorter life expectancy due to the PVCs? Please help :-(. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Hey guys, whenever I read about acebutolol in treating pvcs and bystolic, I hear mainly positive things. Is anyone on here on these blockers !!, if so whats your experience. I aked my cardio Dr. about Acebutolol, he said its something he wouldnt usualy prescribe for pvcs because it doesn't slow down the heart and the common belief is a slower heart induced by a beta blocker is supposed to reduce pvcs,, but people claim that this stuff works.
Avatar m tn Bystolic is the newest beta blocker available in the U.S. LIke other beta blockers, the most common adverse events with Bystolic are headache, fatigue and dizziness. However, the manufacturer states studies have shown that Bystolic was well tolerated, with a low incidence of traditional beta blocker side effects.
Avatar f tn Can anyone tell me if Bystolic causes side affects of inflamation in ones back inbetween the shoulder blades and a stuffy nose and headaches? My heart doctor started me on this med last friday and now i have all these symptoms happening and he wont call me back so i need to know.
Avatar m tn s for years, but lately they have become chronic and can interfere with falling asleep or will wake me. My cardiologist prescribed Bystolic 5 mg., but on their web site, they caution people with "irregular heartbeats" not to take it. I called the 800 number they listed, but they couldn't tell me why. It seems to me that if they caution me not to take it, that I shouldn't. Now what?
Avatar m tn Thanks for the reply, When i stared taking the BB at the recommend dose it made me feel awful so the Dr thought that maybe it was slowing the bottom of my heart down to much so he cut it in half. then I noticed at a half of dose i didn't feel as bad but i would get pressure in my head, shortness of breath and a awful sharp pain right in my heart like some jab something in it. I took the BB for a year. Bystolic is the newest BB on the market in the U.S.
343006 tn?1314446471 same side effects and allergic reactions! then I got the excuse of all !! we can only give you drugs on our list, we cant go out of that list.. I find this hard to belive ! but its true, they are limited to what they can give out to us all. its insane when there are over 300 to 600 diffrent brands and types of b.p medications on the market today! something will work ? but they wont go the distance. and give up brakes on full stop !! and Im left out in the cold again ..
