212161 tn?1599427282 Hello... I have asthma and take Flovent 2xday and used to take Combivent as needed. My Dr switched me from Combivent to Atrovent. With Atrovent, I find that it doesn't cause my heart to race as much as it did when using the Combivent.
Avatar f tn Depending on how severe your asthma is or how reactive you are, you may be able to control your asthma with allergy medication (possible including shots) and an ocassionally use of your rescue inhaler. Hoping you feel better soon.
Avatar n tn from everything that my little guy has been through I always maek sure that I also have a copy of his medical reports that way there if you go for a second opinion, then you have all of that stuff and you can be prepared. to ask questions or whatever.
Avatar n tn I use Xopenex and was able to cut back drasticly from the perscribed doseage. I have COPD and count the number of breaths taken (like between 20 to 40) instead of mg's taken. You might try this, but slowly.
920032 tn?1550680156 OH - I just assumed you were talking about the nasal spray Atrovent, but you could be using a neb or for now an MDI (will be off the market soon with the CFC ban). Which are you using? You could also try NasalCrom. That is an OTC nasal mast cell stabilizer which works really well. I hope that you get some relief and sleep soon.
212161 tn?1599427282 t even want to take this, but I was wheezing and it appeared to be a cold with the asthma. It will pass. If I am not too bad. my steamer helps with a few drops of eucalyptus, also put a few drops on a clothe and keep next to you, breath in when you feel you need to. it does help. Practice breathing through your nose, don't breath through your mouth. A tea made with Oregano and honey also helps my breathing. I use the inhaler very rarely and then only half of what I am suposed to.
212161 tn?1599427282 ia a xopenex hfa 45mcg is this a steroid inhaler
783328 tn?1236218525 however, I had tonsilities (now tonsiles are taken out), GERD, depression, panic attacks, thyroid problems, adrenal gland show dysfunction in cortisol level (do not match what should be cortisol level during the specific periods of a day), bronchitis - infections prior asthma for 2-3 years - 2 times a year. Also, I suffered from ear infections 1 year prior asthma. Allergy testing showing only weak reactions to Maple, Cedar, and Candida and Cyprus.
Avatar f tn Either way though, with your reactions after exercise, it sounds like a fast acting broncho dilater (some form of albuterol - Proventil, Porair, Maxair, Xopenex, Ventolin) might be a good idea. These medications can be used as a pretreatment for exercise eliminating the reaction and allowing for a better workout. I hope that helps you. Good luck obtaining an accurate diagnosis and the medication that is best for you.
Avatar f tn I do use Advair discuss for my Asthma (under control now) and Aerius daily along with Atrovent that my allergist gave me prescription for years now. Why is it bad to use a nose spray for long periods. If I don't I have post nasal drip all the time even out of allergy seasons. It's just been a really bad bad year for pollen in Quebec, Canada. Thanks for info again.
Avatar f tn Asthma is a combination of muscle spasms (the attacks) and chronic inflammation in the lungs. Atrovent and ventolin will help greatly with the muscle spasms but due nothing for the inflammation. You must have a medication to counter the inflammation or your lungs will continue to have issues. Good luck and hope you feel better.
Avatar m tn It is often treated with a drying nasal spray (like Atrovent) and antihistamines like chlorpheniramine and loratadine are effective. Nasal decongestant drops too relieve congestion. Please consult your primary care physician for further evaluation. Regards.
Avatar f tn In the past few weeks I have noticed that I cough causing phlegm to rise in my chest after I have eaten. It is every mealtime and nothing specific triggers it other than food. After a couple of coughs it's all clear again until my next meal. Can you please enlighten me as to what may be happening?
1344892 tn?1276541735 However, Salbutamol, also known as Albuterol which is a Class of drugs known as Anticholinergics is known to cause tachycardia and can also cause an increase in blood pressure. Some are able to tolerate this medication with no unwanted side effects...while others suffer from common side effects. I was using Combivent a combination of Albuterol/Atrovent which exacerbated my Afib. My Dr said that the Albuterol was responsible for the exacerbation and suggested that I try using Atrovent instead.
Avatar m tn Some of these over the counter allergy pills and antihistamines are not good for your liver. Find out what is causing the sneezing. A allergy test can be quite helpful. At least then you will know what you're allergic to. Sneezing is the body's way of getting rid of an allergin. Good luck with all ot this.
Avatar n tn I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes. I had already been discussing the changes with my doctor as my asthma had become much better controlled. I just pushed up the timeline on one and she made the other. God bless.
Avatar f tn I am taking atrovent for asthma and i was wondering if i should be spitting out phlem after i take a treatment or does it just break the phlem up and i spit it out whenever?
312330 tn?1245176752 I took it years ago and it seemed to help. One thing I remember is that it did cause me to be a bit jittery, but I am sensitive to alot of meds. Doctors also monitored me for theophylline toxicity on a regular basis. I was on it for over a year and then they switched my meds around to what they are currently because I was still having alot of problems with my symptoms...
Avatar f tn So back then I freaked out so I tried to stay as calm as can be with re-doing this test. But sometimes knowing what you are looking at is scary. My husband does not get as worried. But he is not really aware of CF. I love him but if someone asked Hutner history he would have to refer to me. I forgot everything under the sun but I know Hunter's history like it was written on my hand in ink. We will await the blood test but I feel a huge sense of relief.
Avatar f tn Several times Physicians have called ambulance from their office after administering albuterol and setting to off of because severe hypoxia sets off the angina. Also my Xopenex can kick of angina as well but I can normally get that stopped with nitro. Influenza almost always causes increased asthma and a circle of hypoxia & Angina.
Avatar n tn The evidence for benefit from inspiratory resistance trainers, such as Ultrabreathe, is mixed. There may be some benefit for some persons and, since there is no harm, it is worth a try. I am unfamiliar with any of the alternative therapies you mention, below. Whichever of these that you choose, it would be wise to consult with a practitioner familiar with their use and do your own online search to discover any untoward effects of those specific preparations.
Avatar n tn It is highly likely that it will be possible to control your problem with the administration of an inhaled nasal steroid. Good luck.
