Avatar n tn Many arthritis sufferers are in a panic over the shortage of Voltaren gel (diclofenac sodium gel) and I get why they are worried. Voltaren gel is a prescription topical anti-inflammatory gel used for all kinds of arthritis pain: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and osteoarthritis of the knees, hands and hips. People who have stomach issues from taking anti-inflammatories by mouth can bypass that problem with Voltaren gel.
Avatar m tn According to Novartis, no liver damage is expected when Voltaren Pain Gel is used as directed. Only 6% of diclofenac would be systemically absorbed by percutaneous use. / Translated with www.DeepL.
Avatar f tn I have a shoulder problem and used to be on strong pain killers, but my doctor told me to change to heat rubs!
Avatar f tn It was a gel though, I only got it on my hands for about a minute. I didn't take a pill.
Avatar n tn Voltaren Gel is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, commonly known as NSAIDs. It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. Voltaren Topical Gel is used to treat joint pain in the hands, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, or feet caused by osteoarthritis. This medication is for pain.
Avatar f tn s hard to see how rubbing aspirin on your forehead is going to do much. The only proven use for this product appears to be pain in the knees from osteoarthritis. You might want to explain what you mean by decadent arteries and veins in your skull -- this doesn't sound like accurate physiology. If this is indeed caused by the increased circulation from running, it appears your blood vessels are working too well up there, as the blood seems to be rushing there and producing pressure.
655875 tn?1295695107 My mother inlaw uses it and she said it works ok for her. I have tried to use it not on my face but other aches and pains but it didn't work very well. Some people it work for and others it don't. My friend used it on her back and it worked great.
880900 tn?1467270141 Hi folks! Have any of you used Diclofenac or Voltarin Gel for relief from general pain on thighs, etc.(and other large areas ... LOL? What was your experience? Did it actually relieve any of your pain? I've used the tablet form, but it made me sick to my stomach. Is this likely to do the same? Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn Oh, alright she didn't say.
Avatar f tn It is very common in Europe and other parts of the worls and is actually sold over the counter. It is the only thing that works for back pain for me without the stomach upset. I guess everyone is different. Actually as far as risks are concerned all meds in this classification have the same risks :,-( so a person has to choose quality of life or potential risks.
Avatar f tn Some offer limited relief but there is no cure. I also suffer with chronic back pain for which I use a topical pain cream. My arms were itching so badly one day that I smeared the pain cream all over my arms. The itching stopped; of course it came back but I just added more cream. The BRP is Maddening...but the pain cream helps.
Avatar n tn //www.drugs.com/voltaren-gel.html. Diclofenac is voltaren and the gel contains the Nsaid. This information states clearly that aspirin should not be used at the same time. Normally, blood thinners are also not used with Nsaids. So, speak with your doctor, of course, but would advise not to use these together based on the provided information.
Avatar n tn You can also put some Voltaren gel on your neck/shoulder area where the muscle pain is. Hope you get better soon!
Avatar f tn You might ask your dr for Voltaren Gel. It's a TOPICAL non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. I used it for the nerve pain in the tops of my feet with good results.
Avatar f tn I tried Lidoderm patches. They didn't help for my pain. The nice thing about these patches is that you can cut them to any size. I was also give voltaren gel that worked a lot better. It's basically the same medicine as the lidoderm patch, but in gel form. I used it for my muscle spasms on my shoulders. Muscle relaxers work best for my shoulders, but I'm so sensitive to them and we are trying to find one that I can tolerate. Good luck.
Avatar m tn You can also google 'diclofenac and liver'. I have found an articles saying the following: Data collected by the FDA shows that diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), has caused serious liver toxicity and liver failure in some patients.
Avatar f tn I like all the support this place can give. I've been taking various pain killers for nearly three years. Started with back pain then finally gave into a lumbar fusion. I'm three months post op and so ready to get rid of pills.. I haven't taken any for 3 days but I'm losing the psychological battle. I know if I take one my back will feel so much better while at work and I'll finally be comfortable in bed.. A year ago, before my surgery, I quit after taking 4-5 norco a day..
Avatar f tn I've given up on using the creams for my arthitis. I used to use joint-ritis, but it's been discontinued now, also it was a roll on and not cream.
230262 tn?1316645934 I was just given Voltaren Gel(diclofenac sodium topical get 1%) for my neck pain(spinal cord nerve damage) and muscle spasms in my shoulders. I've been using it for the past few days and it has worked wonders for the pain in my shoulders. It comes in pill form too and it is geared for arthritis and pain. I was surprised how quickly it reduced my shoulder pain.
653169 tn?1303446369 ll probably just go back on it for as long as my stomach can handle it. I have arthritis and fibromyalgia both also. Do you know if fibromyalgia can deform joints like arthritis does? Fibromyalgia is a fairly new diagnoses for me. MY DR. wants me on Savella for it, but I've tried to take it twice and couldn't handle the side effects!
Avatar n tn I know how bad it can be. I had a joint replacement in my left thumb but the implant failed and wound up having 9 surgeries, countless meds, procedures, etc. I don't know if you've tried glucosamine chondroiton. It can help rebuild cartilage if you haven't gone too far. It was too late for my hands but it may be helping other spots I have. What kind of doctor are you seeing? I get some relief from a prescription gel called Voltaren.
Avatar f tn hmmm....that's what I'm worried about with it. Definately not what I want to find out on my trip. :) I will try it, but jumpy is not what I want to add to my anxiety issues! I also ready that Cymbalta helps with Dopamine and Savella doesn't. And my understanding is that Dopamine helps with pain. Interesting. Sara - I will definately keep you posted on my experience with it. Have you tried Voltaren Gel? I love it!!
965215 tn?1274955173 I have been taking nsaids for along time now. and nothing has helped. I have also used Voltaren gel, Lyrica, topamax nothing has helped the pain I am having in my wrist.
1998155 tn?1327298656 I had the same problem after having cervical discs fused back in the 90's. I can tell you there really isn't any magic medicine that will make the pain go away. While it's great that you're running and staying active, running is a high-impact activity that puts a lot of stress on your spine and it may actually be making your pain worse. Try switching to race walking for a while and see if it makes a difference.
Avatar m tn I have bone spurs and nerve damage in my wrist. My Voltaren gel works wonders on it. However your pain could be most anything and should be professionally evaluated. I'd suggest that you ask your doctor. I wouldn't let it go too long. The earlier you start treatment, the better.
