Common Questions and Answers about Can skelaxin be taken with flexeril

skelaxin

Avatar f tn Hi and sorry about your neck/back injury. Flexeril does work a lot better. I was on it for 9 months. It wasn't too hard to get off of. Skelaxin didn't work as well for me either but did work some as I felt it after I got of of it. For short term I would take Flexeril at night (5mg). Apparently Skelaxin doesn't work for you.Flexeril only works for 3 weeks then it is a sleeping pill really. I would go on an off as needed.
Avatar m tn With Flexeril, yes it works but depends on what you taking along with it. For example don't take it with a benzo like xanax. Baclofen is very good. I even read that in higher doses it can be used for addictions like alcohol and maybe heroin. It was in the Wikipedia site for it. Was very i teresting read.
Avatar m tn I have really tried to cut back on the hydro but my back hurts so bad it wakes me up (when I can sleep). Please let me know if any of you have had any experence with this for back spasms. Thanks.
402205 tn?1230481005 I think my friend is hooked on benadryl! I have taken 5 mg flexeril for chronic back pain for years and never had any problems with it...I will try to avoid them right now tho because they make me sluggish and I am already fatigued with my cut in dose of hydrocodne..anything can be abused...skelaxin is a fairly safe muscle relaxer.....
Avatar f tn it can be really frustrating sometimes you do everything you can to stay off the opiates and you end up with a new problem so just be careful
Avatar n tn I have had some kind of cold/flu, sinusitis (all in one) for about three weeks. Finally I went to the doctor she prescribes antibiotics, anticough medicine etc. I also developed somehow a muscle spams around my neck aparently due to excesive coughing. The pain became the worst ever to the point of tears. The doctor prescribed skelaxin 800mg, it didn't help, then I added 400mg Advil.. The pain somehow got better, but still there. So Went for Motrin 800mg with Skelaxin, didn't help.
Avatar m tn My pain clinic is no longer writing for soma. I have had flexeril, robaxin, skelaxin before and they aren't as effective. What can I try?
Avatar m tn You should be OK on those things but I would not start at the full doses of L-Tyrosine. Build up 500mg at a time and see how you do. You shouldn't need the valium with the Flexeril. Neurontin sometimes has helped with w/ds so that should actually benefit you.
Avatar m tn Took prescriptions for 4 days, Skelaxin caused stomach cramping even when taken as directed. Urine test came back cloudy with high white blood cell count. Concluded was very dehydrated and sent off for tests to determine if infection was present. Also had me go in for blood tests. All came back normal except Vitamin D. Advised to take 1000mg of Vitamin D per day. Follow up appt. set for 7/10 where they will do a urine test again. FAMILY HISTORY Female cousin diagnosed with MS in early 20’s.
Avatar f tn Hi there... It is very common for most Drs. to move their patients from a short acting medication to a long acting one when they move from the "acute" pain phase...which is up to three months to the "chronic" pain phase, which is thereafter. I'm confused on why you wouldn't do well on Oxycontin if you do well on Percocet. It is the exact same opiate. Oxycodone. The only difference is that it lasts longer. Obviously the Percocet has Acetaminophen in it..
757527 tn?1237893063 My doctor prescribed 5mg Flexeril daily. I took one last night and my pain went from a 8 (on a 10 scale) to about a 3. Has anyone else tried these? Can they be used long term? I'd rather not have to rely on medicine, but if this is helping me, I may have to stick with it. I also get myofascial massages, use warm heat, take Vit B50, and am trying some new supplements for muscles and joints.
Avatar m tn I don't know if I will be much help with your problem. There are two issues you are struggling with; one being tolerance, where any pain medication will slowly lose effectiveness, and the other being the anatomical source of the pain. Any relief from a narcotic (oxycodone, hydrocodone, demerol etc) will, be shot-lived; The receptors for pain medication in your brain simply adjust to whatever you are taking, and the dose must be increased to relieve the pain again.
Avatar f tn My back is killing me! Hurts so bad can't getcomfy or relax at all!! Has anyone taken a muscle relaxer or even a half of one??
Avatar m tn Wow, I'm out of action for at least 16 hours after just one Flexeril! And for the entire next day I'm a space cadet.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed this for extreme violent muscle spasms. Dr said non narcotic non addictive. Well my experience with Dr and Percocet i no longer believe in their opinion. So experts can u give me truth. Thanks so much.
Avatar m tn Hi about a year ago a had an injury at work that caused 2 herniated disks. I did the physical therapy for a while than realized I can do most of the pt stuff at home or at the gym. I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin.
Avatar n tn I have flexeril and do think it could aid with sleep and anxiety...maybe rls to some extent as well...
237152 tn?1206651036 Well I've never taken soma but have taken flexeril a lot, to help me sleep and to help with back spasms, I have never gotten any type of 'buzz' from it. Upon comparing the two on drugs.com under warning on soma it says not to take it if you have a history of alcohol or other substance abuse or dependence but under flexeril there is nothing of the sort. Hope that helps, Much Luv!!!
Avatar f tn Ive taken it for a little while now with no issues i was on soma before i found out i was pregnant they had to switch me bc somas can cause problems. Flexeril just makes you really sleepy!
Avatar f tn that is the smartest thing one can doe in my opinion. What you are experiencing can really be from a build up of stress. Anticipation of an event that we fear can bring a myriad of symptoms. It is part of the anxiety/panic cycle. The good thing....you are confronting it and with time, will learn about it and thrive with this. Welcome to this community and do not hesitate to ask as many questions as you like! Keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I have taken flexeril, could not take more than a 1/4 or I would feel very odd. Maybe that was a good thing. You can get a pill cutter and start cutting your dose. We aren't allowed to talk about how to dose hopefully you can get the jist of this. While trying to wean down I would up your vitamins. There is something called a Thomas Recipe but that is for narcotics,so not sure if it would work for you. Your muscles may need more magnesium than normal.
Avatar f tn You never know if you will have a reaction to a medication and if it was not prescribed to you and you received it from someone else that person could potentially be in trouble with the law. I do not believe Flexeril is addictive. But, please call your doctor instead. That's just my two cents! WTG for being clean from vicodin for 3 weeks!!! AWESOME!!! Keep staying strong hun!!!! You know, Ibuprofen or naproxin works great too and you can get them over the counter. Good luck!!!
221387 tn?1210933058 flexeril can not be found on a standard emplyment urine screen...i worked in employee health at a hospital..
232328 tn?1207090071 i took it and i didnt feel anything. it is not suppose to be physically addictive. but i do think you can get mentally addicted, so be careful.
