Can ovarian cysts rupture

Common Questions and Answers about Can ovarian cysts rupture

ovarian-cysts

Avatar f tn Certain types of cysts can affect fertility. They can actually stop you from menstruating. Do check with your doctor.
Avatar m tn No, or I should say highly unlikely. Ovarian cysts may rupture or 'twist' and when that happens it will feel like sharp stabbing pains. You may also get, as part of cysts, irregular periods or heavier periods. Your physician/obgyn (or the ER depending on pain level, etc) should be contacted in any of those cases or when anything 'feels' different. But, no, dying is not likely. The physician can give you more details.
Avatar f tn I have posted here before in greater detail of my problem, but to make a long story somewhat short... This past year, I had three ovarian cysts rupture (2 were diagnosed -through u/s for the second rupture, and through ct scan for the third rupture). I also had the exact episode happen in February, but did not know what it was as I did not seek medical attention. I had been having these episodes happen numerous times over the years, but never knew what it was until now.
1720730 tn?1309294631 i am 15 and i have had two very large ovarian cysts and i had my right ovary taken out last august and now i found out that i have another ovarian cyst on my left ovary and i am very scared what are some ways to treat it besides surgery it is a large hemorrhagic ovarian cyst.
Avatar f tn m sure that if it was an emergency, the doctor would have treated it as such. Cysts can either rupture or twist your ovary and that is very painful. If you experience horrible pain like that you should definitely go to the ER again. Try not to worry though. We sometimes make things seem worse than they are in our heads because we think too much about it and we're scared. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
Avatar f tn I do not think menstrual clotting is an indication of a rupture. Cysts are outside the uterus (if they are true ovarian cysts), and ruptured ones would not show up in menstruation.
1284894 tn?1272171454 t want he to have to go though that and be scared. I have read that certain cysts can rupture while others have more chance of twisting. What kind of cysts have you had? Thank you.
1473788 tn?1286975127 I am 23 years old and I have had so many ovarian cysts rupture that I have lost count! It's affecting my life dramatically. I have a cyst rupture every few months. I was put on birth control to regulate the growth but I have 2 different types of cysts and the larger ones that my fallopian tubes wrap around aren't controlled by the medication. When I was 16 I was having pelvic discomfort and my abdomen was distended. I looked about 6 months pregnant.
Avatar f tn I just went and got an ultra sound and found out that I have ovarian cysts. Will I still be able to get an abortion? I really did not want to get surgery, I wanted to take some medications.
Avatar n tn my mom has a history of ovarian cysts she thinks that i had a cysts rupture last week.
Avatar f tn I am not a Dr by any means, but can tell you experience about a ruptured cyst. I had numerous ovarian cysts, some would rupture, some would need surgery. When I would have a rupture usually it was a very serious, intense, double me over type pain that would ease in a couple of hours, but still feel tender. My last cyst that ruptured however did become a more emergent surgery for me.
Avatar n tn Mostly they are symptomless But Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. Most ovarian cysts will go away on their own. One of the most effective treatments for ovarian cysts is use of contraceptive pills or progesterone pills. It can also be treated surgically and this procedure is known as drilling. Other modes of treatment are laparoscopic surgery, laparotomy or surgery for complicated ovarian cysts.
Avatar f tn It's hard to believe that cysts can cause that much pain and discomfort, huh? Well, unfortunately for us, they can. At least you already know that they're just regular fluid filled cysts and still rather small. You need to talk to your doctor to see what medication is right to help shrink them. He/she is going to have to monitor them and schedule for an ultrasound every so often to see if they are in fact shrinking or growing.
564029 tn?1216423219 During your reproductive years it is very common to get functional ovarian cysts that can disappear after a few menstrual cycles. Could it be your doctor is doing a watchful waiting to see if they go away? How long have you had the cyst? It really depends on how large the cyst is and what kind it is that determines if you need surgery or not.
1295419 tn?1276822872 In the last 8 weeks I have had 3 ovarian cysts rupture. The first two were shortly before my period started and caused intense pain which landed me in the ER. The last was yesterday, which was also painful and a trip to the ER. I haven't started my period yet but I assume I will soon. I had one other ovarian cyst rupture in my lifetime which was about 6 months after going off birth control and 6 months before getting pregnant. I have so many of the PCOS symptoms.
10299247 tn?1409208876 They are ovarian cysts I have had them for about a year now. And if I walk to stand for to long they hurt so bad like really bad cramps only on the left and right side never anywherr else and its always in the same spot.
Avatar f tn And if they leak or rupture, that can be painful. Most ovarian cysts resolve on their own in 2 to 3 cycles. Some doctors prescribe birth control pills in hopes that will help them shrink. How long have you been having pain?
Avatar n tn There are more than one flavor of ovarian cysts and some are more cause for concern than the usual ones that occur due to what I think of as a misfired egg. I've had plenty of those along with hemorrhagic and chocolate cysts from endometriosis. Those tend to not rupture on their own and surgery usually is only considered after the size has been tracked for a few months and it gets so large that it causes more symptoms or interferes with fertility. Ain't it great to be a woman?!
Avatar n tn in scar tissue and attached to my intestine.I guess my point is if your cyst is ready to rupture you will know it and yes it can be serious if you get internal bleeding , or if ovary ruptures also, in my case just the cyst ruptured, and then grew back. Glad to be done w that, no more pain, Good luck to all.
Avatar f tn I thought it was an ingrown hair, like I’ve gotten before, but it’s gotten bigger within the past couple days and gets more and more painful. I’ve had ovarian cysts before, and rupture, but I’m not sure this is a vaginal cyst or not.
