maxalt

Pain-relieving medications should be used in a limited basis. Also, avoid caffeine-containing products while taking a pain-relieving medication. If prescription medications do not work, complementary and alternative medicine including biofeedback and self-hypnosis may help provide relief. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I have taken ibuprofen also for the headaches idk if that can cause a pt to come out negative or not? but even though I have taken ibuprofen my headaches haven't gone away.
Avatar f tn Triptans are currently the first-line of treatment for migraine headaches as opposed to NSAIDS such as ibuprofen, as ibuprofen can cause rebound migraine headaches. So I usually suggest that if possible, people avoid over-the-counter medications and stick with migraine medications such as triptans.
655875 tn?1295695107 Right now I'm on my 7th migraine in the last 4 weeks. I have a herniated c5-7 that is compressing on the spinal cord. I've been taking Maxalt with some of my migraines, which does help, but insurance only allows so many in a month and they are expensive. I've been also taking percocet in place of the maxalt, but it does not work as well for the headaches. Is there something I can do to try and prevent these migraines? Are there other natural alternatives rather then medication?
1102283 tn?1257817472 The antiemetic Metoclopramide can be taken for nausea and vomiting, but it can also be taken for migraine pain. Metoclopramide can also be taken along with other migraine medications, such as triptans or analgesics, in order to increase the effectiveness of the other headache medications. Metoclopramide is a useful part of my acute migraine treatment plan, I often take it if both my Zomig and my Naproxen fail to completely relieve my migraine pain.
1030950 tn?1261010513 Hey have you tryed changing your diet? Sometimes to much chocolate and caffeine can do it, also food with MSG in it. I am taking amitriptyline right before bed every night but it did take about 4 weeks of taking it before it started to work, and now if I eat really wrong I still get a small headache but now where as bad as they were. Good luck with the CT scan let me know how you make out.
Avatar f tn Can Ibuprofen cause dizziness, ear pain, stuffiness, and feelings of passing out if taken several times a week?
1981713 tn?1389860165 As they say, it's always better to be safe than sorry! You can never be too careful when it comes to addiction.
Avatar f tn Wow, I think your doctor should send you to a specialist in this field
Avatar f tn m already taking Wellbutrin XL 150MG once a day and Klonopin 1 mg. Not sure if the Elavil can be taken along with those two. Is the Topamax sedating? I heard it can impact memory recall in a very bad way, last thing I need....but I do like the appetite suppresant effect.
Avatar f tn t exactly match the standard either, but after going to a Headache clinic I was confirmed as having migraines-the pain is on either the left or right front of my forehead never goes beyond the ears and can be a real pain unless I catch them at the beginning, if wake up with "full blown" it becomes a race btw the Maxalt and the migraine, I have had anywhere from 15-18 per month, also have to use strong coffee and ice pack or it's just a waste of the Maxalt and sometimes it takes ano
1386405 tn?1291587800 ok I just read online that you are not suppose to take ibuprofen while you are pregnant again im 5 weeks i took total of seven not all together of course over say a period of maybe two days due to a severe toothache did i do something stupid is my baby going to be ok.
Avatar f tn I don't know if I'm pregnant or not but If I am can Ibuprofen harm my child during early stages of pregnancy?
7923170 tn?1412999504 Ibuprophen should not be taken during pregnancy. Ibuprophen is the active ingredient in several over the coiner pain relievers...Motrin, Adivil are two examples. Always check the active ingredients on any medication to find what you are taking. I would recommend asking your doctor for a list of any common medications that are safe while pregnant. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I'm now 20 weeks pregnant and suffer from migraines and daily tension headaches. I get them daily. I was prescribed Fioricet, but everything I've read scares me. I had a friend who took them almost daily due to hormonal headaches which increased with pregnancy and her baby is healthy.
Avatar f tn I took tylenol this morning. I took Ibuprofen an hour ago . I coudnnt take it anymore. It was a one time thing and i feel so much better. Will my baby be okay?
Avatar f tn I am in my early thirties and they seem to be getting progressively worse with age. Now when I get a really bad migraine I throw up all day and cannot keep anything down even water. I have even passed out the day after such headaches. I have noticed that I am also having have tremors. They do not occur all the time but their frequency seems to be increasing also. Is this normal for someone who has been suffering from migraines for almost 2 decades?
Avatar m tn m concerned because after talking to my doctor he looked at my charts and noted that I relapse with migraines every three months. These migraines are so severe it keeps me from doing my every day activities. I was wondering what I could take on the side for these because since the amitriptyline isn't working my doctor told me to stay on it for a week and it just still isn't working.
1230912 tn?1273492770 The script is for 500mg and I looked it up yesterday to see that it was just Aleve in presciption form which is why I am dumbfounded since I was on 800mg of ibuprofen. I do have better luck with presciption drugs compared to OTC because Advil does nothing compared to my precription ibuprofen. I just wish we could have started on the preventatives instead of the anti-inflammatory which we know does nothing. Plus the traMadol which I am already on, duh!
Avatar n tn Hi Lauren, I know that Inderal can be taken for migraines and anxiety and that it quite effective in both. I am on 80mg of Long Acting Inderal twice a day for anxiety and it really has helped. It is released slowly into the blood stream and lasts whereas other beta blockers can be wearing off within an hour. Inderal has worked wonders with me. As xanweaner has said, visit your doctor to discuss the options and go from there.
Avatar n tn I found a fantastic book that backs up the information that migraines are most often caused hormonal imbalance (too much Estrogen, I believe ), which can be balanced by using a bio-identical progesterone creme. Don't ever let anyone give you fake hormones - they will hurt you. You can get bio-identical progesterone at your local health food store. Check out the book first, and maybe find a doctor that will check out your endocrine system for you.
Avatar m tn Oh, by the way, I should also mention I have chronic migranes that can last for days even with migrane meds such as maxalt (melt on the tongue tabs).
620877 tn?1282764097 I know that some of you may take ibuprofen when taking a DMD to help with the flu like side effects - but what I am wondering is for those who are undiagnosed or not taking a DMD - can ibuprofen help with symptoms? I stay away from ibuprofen because of my acid reflux - but have taken it a few times when tylenol just doesn't seem to help my headaches. I have noticed that the ibuprofen helps.
1088430 tn?1259159773 Very new to the RX side of chronic migraine management. Dealt on my own for 6yrs (WAY TOO LONG). When the neurologist gave me an rx for relpax (along with two other things) couple of wks ago, had no clue why it only had six pills in the box. They worked like GOLD if I took them soon enough with an acute migraine attack. Didn't last long though. After four days, was out of the six pills.
Business man2 Also, the anti-platelet effect of aspirin (which is how it prevents heart attacks) is reduced when taken with daily ibuprofen/naproxen. I hope this helps!
