Avatar n tn I am not particularly stressed out, and love life. I am not an alcoholic, and am not on any prescription medications. I eat as well as possible. I would love some insight from this forum, as I currently cannot afford a consultation. If it helps, I am a smoker. Thank you!
Avatar n tn So, I went back on BC and the hair stopped falling out. And I have been for the last 3 years, but I am thinking future and I would like to have kids eventually and well I know this isn't very likely while im on BC, but at the same time I don't want a repeat of the hair thing, so my question is; are there any known medications out there that could act as an alternative to birth control when used to treat hair loss? And I am not referring to rogaine or propecia or anything like that.

Avatar m tn s panoxyl 10% for about 3 monthes on and off to clean out blackheads. The doctor does not see what I do and thinks I just have dry skin. I am getting a second opinion. Surgery is too risky as I am only 33. I exercise every other day (Will that help tighten up my skin?). In less than 6 months my skin feels like I've aged 3-5 years. I still do not see an improvement. In your experience, are things reversible? Without surgery? Thanks again!
Avatar m tn When you stated that it is safest not to use both Viagra and L-Arginine, do you mean that I should not use L-Arginine on the days that I use Viagra or do you mean that I should totally discontinue use of L-Arginine because I occasionally take Viagra - i.e. once a week.
Avatar n tn “Women who are or may potentially be pregnant must not use PROPECIA and should not handle crushed or broken PROPECIA tablets because the active ingredient may cause abnormalities of a male baby's sex organs. If a woman who is pregnant comes into contact with the active ingredient in PROPECIA, a doctor should be consulted. PROPECIA tablets are coated and will prevent contact with the active ingredient during normal handling, provided that the tablets are not broken or crushed.
Avatar n tn Finasteride goes by the brand name Propecia (for MPB) and Proscar (for BPH) and is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor used to treat male pattern baldness (MPB) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) [enlargement of the prostate]. The medication works by inhibiting the enzyme that converts testosterone to its bioactive metabolite dihydrotestosterone thus decreasing its levels in the body.
Avatar m tn For several months I have been using minoxidil/Rogaine 5% foam twice daily on my head and beard (I know this was absolutely foolish). My wife is five and a half weeks pregnant and I have halted minoxidil use immediately after finding out the good news last week.

Avatar n tn Sure you can use rogaine. The only problem with it is you only get the benefits while using it. If you quit you lose the benefits. Just out of curiousity why did you post this on a men's health site? Another note though? The gene for hair loss is on the x chromosome so unless your mom and dad both have hair loss, or unless your undergoing chemotherapy you should visit a doctor ASAP!
Avatar m tn I have some hair loss and started using generic form of Rogaine. After using it I got a little dizzy and then read it was originally high blood pressure medication.. I want to know if this hair regrowth medication is safe to us on people with heart block???

Avatar n tn I feel lost and depressed and terrified that I have done permanent damage with propecia. I went to a urologist and almost broke down in his office. He made me want to scream because he said everything looked ok and my testosterone levels (to him) were normal. I am wondering if testosterone supplements will be the answer for me. Have you figured out anything else about your problem?

Avatar f tn The thing is, I don't get random erections. And my main concern is this, when I get hard I can feel the blood flowing down there, but when I do get an erection, I don't feel the blood flow.
Avatar n tn s assistant pretty much ruled out telogen effluvium, told me it was androgentic alopecia, and wrote me a prescription for Propecia. I almost wish I had not went to this appointment as I now have to decide between what this PA concluded and what seems like common sense. Does this seem like a correct diagnosis or should I get a second opinion?
Avatar m tn Had a heart attack 4 years ago and was prescribed the meds mentioned earlier. Rogaine is for hair growth and have to be always taken or run the risk of losing hair. Need a reply.
Avatar n tn Usually you can find out things like this from a pharmacist, and it is also helpful to look up the drug's website and perhaps give a call to its 800 number.
