Avatar f tn ve also seen a dermatologist and she said finding the root to the problem is difficult therefore nothing can be done but to continuously taking Zyrtec if my body responds to it. Even though I know Zyrtec can temporarily stops the outbreak, I try not to take much as I fear there might be side effects (I heard it can make you infertile if consuming over a long period of time? Not sure if it's true). ...Help!!!!!!!!!...how do I get rid it permanently?
Avatar n tn Take her off the ALLERGIA as that can cause bad hives. I got horrible leg pains and hives down both my legs that by the time I knew what caused it I had to use antibiotics to heal it. Try children's ZYRTEC and one Tagament a day. Watch for an hr to see if she gets a allergic reaction to what ever she uses or eats if earache, coughing, itching start remove what ever she is using or eating for one week.
Avatar m tn I have Discoid Lupus....and JUST started getting really bad hives from C-section scars up my tummy after giving birth to my 2nd child. I had lots of tests done saying I"m literally allergic to everything...food, outside, inside etc...to just take zyrtec and deal with it. I do not believe I'm allergic to all of that, I mean Potatoes?!? There is no way.
Avatar f tn Thanks so much for your response. I am not breastfeeding so I took some Zyrtec that my husband has for his allergies. Its only been an hour & the itching is soooo much better. Hopefully this condition is just due to my hormones & wont last much longer. I will take the Zyrtec til it does. Again. Thanks very much.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am wondering can hives be from a cold? My Daughter who is 19 years old has had severe hives ever since she was 5. She has been tested for food allergies and appears to have none, yet every time she gets sick, she breaks out from head to toe in raised hives on her body. They usually have to give her an epi shot, benadryl and steroids for them. Is their any way that a cold or virus is causing this? I am at my wits end and my daughter has had it after 14 years of this.
Avatar m tn Do you have any other known allergies, or health issues?
Avatar f tn I get hives and I take something that is similar to zyrtec for it. Cetirizine 10mg given to me by my VA (veteran affairs) doctor. It's safe. Get well soon. I know the feeling and it *****.
Avatar f tn I get horrible hives, and have since I can remember. My early childhood days were spent in ice baths, continuously downing dimatap, and trips to the ER due to my throat closing off. I got scratch tested then, but my allergies have changes in my adulthood. I currently take atarax for my hives and it works great, but I am helpless without it! My current dr/insurance is all wacked out, and I am out of my presciption and wont get any for some time.
Avatar n tn I've had chronic hives for two years now. I was told that they are idiopathic and that it can last from 5-10 years. Yes, you read that right. That. Long. It *****. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome so I can't take any meds that make me drowsy so just been taking Zyrtec. I had every test done to rule out things. They sent tests to the mayo clinic and I saw rheumatologists, infectious disease, cardiologist, neurologist, gynecologist,, allergist....pretty much every doctor.

Avatar f tn For pretty much the past 6 or 7 years, I constantly break out in hives whenever I touch anything. It could be that I sit on a chair and get hives on my thighs or open the fridge and get hives on my hands. I've gone to a dermatolagist several times, but even after a scratch test and everything, we've found no reasons for my random breakouts. I'm currently on Allegra and have been for years. I've tried claritin, zyrtec, etc. I need to know what ttis is and how to stop it!
Avatar f tn t see me unless I have signs of hypothyroidism. Is there something else I can try to stop the hives and the angioedema attacks? Benadryl every five hours keeps the stomach and vomitng at bay but still have the hives and have to wake up every five hours to take it. The allergist wants to me to stop taking the Benadryl, and I want to sleep through the night but I can feel the angioedema coming on--chest pains, stomach pains and my lips swell so I stop it if I can with the Benadryl.
Avatar f tn When she is using Zyrtec, get relief.when she is not taking Zyrtec, hives are coming Again. When I go to dermatologist he had given steroids. when she use steroids, hives are increasing than normal stage.Another Dermatologist had given zentel, Ivermectol for only one dose. and xyzal daily. Now She is not getting hives than previous days. will she get rid of hives completely?
Avatar n tn Someone on here told me that I should take an antihistamine such a levocetrizine or cetrizine. I took 1 Zyrtec and I felt fine for a couple of hours but my arms eventually swelled up and started to itch again. I'm not sure if it just didn't work or I didn't take enough because the pill was only 10mg. I drank enough to become intoxicated but the reaction this time was not as bad as before.
Avatar f tn You can take zyrtec, i used it through three pregnancies, doc okayed it, kids are healthy.
535822 tn?1443976780 I am uncertain what causes the hives I get, it may be from the plants in my garden, cactus etc, but they have been severe this year I thought once fall came it would ease off but it is worse. So which OTC would help me , is Zyrtec worth trying I have tried claritin doesnt do anything ,and do these kick in straight away or take a few days to work, yhe burning and itching I get round my neck ,tops of arms is really painful .
Avatar n tn concerned that it might be an infection called in a script for me, augmentin and told me to take zyrtec. One week later to the day I broke out in hives all over my body, head to toe, long story short it took cortisone shot, steroids, and zyrtec to clear me up. After 4- 5 days it was MUCH better, but for a few weeks after that I would still ge tthem here and there, nothing major. The Dr. eventually tested me for penicillin allergy through rast testing and it came back negative.
Avatar n tn I never have these symptoms, it is the first time. I have rashes borke out all over my whole legs and arms, some are located on my back. They are red and allways very itchy. They look puffy and feels burning if I scratch them. Once I start scratching, I can't stop and new bumps and patches come up. My family doctor said it is an allergic reaction, but i don't think it's that simple....... is it HIVES??????? !!!! attached pictures!!!! my leg http://i150.photobucket.
Avatar f tn Hello Doctor, Is it possible that I have built up a tolerence to loratadine after using it so many years? I have the usual allergy symptoms: sneezing, itchiness, runny nose and hive breakouts. I'm allegic to dust, pollen and grass, no food or medicinal allergies that I know of. I usually take 10mg of generic Claritin once a day and I'm fine (about 4years now) but yesterday I broke out in Hives and the claritin hasnt helped. I took 20mg last night and 20mg this morning.
Avatar f tn The mainstay of treatment of hives is antihistamine which may be necessary for prolonged periods (in excess of 6 weeks). She can take non-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine(Zyrtec) or Loratadine to get symptom relief. Sedating antihistamines such as Benadryl is used at night to get urticaria control. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms. She may take Vitamin C along with the prescribed treatment.
850029 tn?1238857820 My doctor put me on it last year when I started breaking out in hives all over. I realized I had the fragrance allergy. I can control the fragrance part of it but had chronic sinus infections due to my other allergies after I took myself off it. I do nasal rinses, take nasal spray and try to minimize the allergens around me and it really feels like the Zyrtec doesn't little. And its not even spring allergy time in Minnesota!!!!!
Avatar n tn we went away over the weekend and i got concerned and took him in to a walk in clinic and the dr said it looked like poison ivy so they gave his a prescription of 5ml prednisone his took that for 2 1/2 days i thought it was gatting better than in the middle of the night he started ichying like crazy could not sleep and felt sick to his stomach.when he woke up this morning his face was really really red and really swollen it scared me so i took him to the emergency room.
