Can i take valtrex and lysine

Common Questions and Answers about Can i take valtrex and lysine

valtrex

But in more severe cases of shingles–– particularly in outbreaks that occur on the face––the prescription antiviral medications Zovirax, Famvir, and Valtrex can shorten the disease course and reduce symptoms. Valtrex can take effect within two or three days. Believe it or not, the over-the-counter heartburn medicine cimetidine (which you probably know as Tagamet) can also help lessen the pain and intensity of the rash. Take 200 mg three times a day with meals, plus 400 mg at bedtime.
Stomach pain, mood changes, and for four months still having problems down below without breakouts, just pain, front and back, vagina and anus pain, I have had several people tell me Lysine is just as helpful as Valtrex and wondered if anyone has had these problems and has ever used Lysine for genital herpes.
My new doctor gave me a year's prescription of Valtrex for suppressant therapy, but I dont know when I am suppose to take it. The bottle is just sitting in my drawer collecting dust. I guess I am wondering if it really reduces the viral shedding (What is the difference between shedding and an outbrea anyway) or transmission to an uninfected partner? What about L-Lysine and something about kelp that helps to reduce it too.
I have hsv2 and take 1 Valtrex pill every day. I read up a lot on the L-Lysine supplement and that it can help clear up outbreaks quickly and may even help stop an outbreak from occurring. So now in addition to my daily Valtrex pill, I also take a daily L-Lysine pill. Is this ok? I've heard that too much Lysine can lead to liver damage. If the Lysine is truly helpful, then I want to keep taking it. But if it is in fact harmful, I'd like to know. Thoughts?
Im feeling a cold sore coming out and i found some old valtrex in my medicine cabinet Issued February 2008. Is it safe to take?
Hi Grace, My partner and I finally got a prescription for Valtrex from her doctor after he consulted with one of his associates(yes, he was not very knowledgeable to say the least). Before we got a chance to pick up the medication she had her first outbreak ever, which was rather shocking to say the least. We had sex the day prior to the outbreak, protected, and I wanted to know if there is shedding prior to an outbreak.
Like I said - you need to find out for sure what type you have and what type your partner has so you can better make decisions like this. Lysine is a waste of time and money pretty much. I don't recommend it. The only dose that showed any difference at all in the number of ob's you get each year was the 1000mg 3x/day dose. That's pricey to take and inconvenient to take. We don't have any info at all on whether lysine reduces viral shedding either.
A couple years later another doctor told me to try l-lysine. I did... and it seemed to work. I still take it to this day. In fact it's all I'm on to treat the condition and have no break outs. I'm curious if anyone else has heard of this or is taking the supplement. Thanks. Rod.
I'm doing a lot of research on the internet trying to learn what other herbs I can use to help prevent an outbreak. Is there something topical I can put on my upper lip and other areas that will prevent an outbreak from recurring there? And if I do, do I risk a new outbreak somewhere else in my body? I've read about olive leaf oil, andogrphis and oregano. Is it safe to get those supplements and start adding them to my self prescribed treatment plan?
Also, does Valtrex or Lysine cause yeast? Can too much Lysine cause an outbreak? If 500 mg of Valtrex reduces transmission by 50%, then does 1 mg per day suppressive reduce it more? I have HSV2.
like i said i don't take acyclovir regularly usually only when i feel and outbreak coming.. i really don't know if it worked or not.. they always come up and last about a week and a half.. i got another outbreak last monday (which is still healing). i immediately staring taking my acyclovir as well as lysine through out the course of the sore.. i figured since i was on my med thats there not way i would get another one, right?? WRONG!! another one popped up last night.. how can this be??
Since I could not put alcohol in my eye I researched again and discovered l-lysine. When I have an eye outbreak- I take one thousand mg of l-lysine three times a day along with a mixture of Tylenol and ibuprofen for pain. Usually within a couple of days the pain and redness is gone in my eye. I have been doing this for about two years and I have had no side affects from the l-lysine.
My ex of 3 1/2 years dumped me and I went out and contracted HSV the same week I it happened. This is a difficult thing to deal with, but it's even harder when you contracted it out of depression for a girl that you let get away.
My question is, since I’m already taking 500mg Valtrex daily, can I increase the dosage when I have an outbreak? If yes, should I go for 1g daily and for how long? Also, if my outbreaks reoccur, should I consider increasing the dosage of my suppressive therapy for ever? I’m currently away from my country of residence (Canada) where I have my doctor and won’t be able to get there before one year. That’s why I’m asking you.
Negative As of Friday I stopped taking Valtrex and Lysine. I also started eating foods high in arginine, such as peanut butter and coconut. So far, I have felt fine and have no visible signs of an outbreak. I am concerned, however, because my February results were not borderline. I appreciate any guidance you can give me. Thank you.
Since taking 200mg 5x/day for 5 days is a hassle - talk to your doctor about writing the prescription so you can get the cheaper price but how you can take more than 1 pill at a time and only have to take pills 3x/day for either 2 days or 5 days. Also check out the herpes homepage's deal with drugplace.com. They offer 6 weeks of suppressive therapy with acyclovir ( 100 400mg tablets ) for around $25 if you mention HHP.
The only thing is, the doctor in the ER gave me Valtrex to take...once my order gets here tomorrow, should I stop valtrex or can I take both for even better results?
I then went on 500mg of valtrex and still would get outbreaks. then my dr. put me on 1gram of valtrex daily and I still will get small red bumps that itch like crazy and dont look like blisters, but I'm pretty sure they are herpes related. I take Lysine, zinc, and various other vitamins daily to try to combat the virus. Why is that some people can contract this demon and have minor issues and others like myself have to deal with it on a daily basis.
What would their outbreak be like? Does Valtrex or Lysine cause yeast? Can too much Lysine cause an outbreak? If 500 mg of Valtrex reduces transmission by 50%, then does 1 mg per day suppressive reduce it more? For 2 or 3 weeks I've felt occasional tingling on my upper lip and in the one spot that is right above my pubic bone. And the past 1 1/2 to 2 weeks I feel like my lymph node on pelvis occasionally flares up. Changed Valtrex to more of an outbreak dosage.
), however, I don't exactly want to spread it either. I take a gram of valtrex a day, am starting up on Lysine again...I eat fairly healthy. I'm 27, in shape, and only have herpes as the "health issue." Am I really shedding all the time? That is my main question! Can I be intimate with him, and not feel there is a HUGE risk every single time? (Obviously there is always some risk). My doc says there is no way I can be having a constant outbreak, so it's just confusing.
My dr doesn't distinguish. I only take suppressive valtrex when I get the tingle. Taking lysine proactively. Valtrex is in my cabinet so I have full access. 2.5 day outbreak seems to be something I can live with. It sounds like my case is mild. I heard you discussing numbers with other clients in posts. Is there a viral type count? Have you ever distinguished between mild and severe? Tks. Can you post a link to your handbook?
it can be contracted by saliva into a irritated spot on your body and then cause breakouts, a lowered immune system will cause a breakout any antibiotics will cause you a breakout at the end of the treatment. take Lysine or L-Lysine to keep it from happening and getting worse. I got mine and was still a virgin but had used my saliva while I had a cold sore to moisten a tampon before insertion I had a cold sore at the time and a sore on my vulva from a bike accident.
On the day of the test, I had just got done taking the Valacyclovir for 5 days(that I got online and took on my second, third and fourth outbreak symtoms in April May and July). I had not stopped taking the l-lysine for the whole period as a precaution and to reduce symptoms/outbreaks although its not proven.
I went by your advice and had a herpes test done exactly 4 months after the encounter on 7/12 and the results were HSV I above 5 (which I had for 10 years) and HSV II 0.26. On the day of the test, I had just got done taking the Valacyclovir for 5 days. I had not stopped taking the l-lysine for the whole period as a precaution and to reduce symptoms/outbreaks although its not proven.

As far as I know I haven't had any outbreaks although I do get some tingling and I've been putting denavir on areas that I know can turn into an outbreak.
23 HSV IGM detected I don't know what that means, but I would like to know so I can take better care of myself. Last year I was evaluated and tested by a neurologist, who found nothing wrong with me, except for 'something inside my left ear' ( he didn't specified what) but I suspect it was a herpes outbreak. About 40 blood tests were performed then (except for herpes). I haven't check with rheumatology yet.
tampons will probably be my best bet—the ones with the smooth plastic applicator. If I put vaseline on the sores first, and use the right absorbancy so it's full when I take it out and not dry (ouch), I think that should do it. Thoughts, advice?? Any other happy surprises I should be prepared for when mixing herpes with menstruation?
Can HSV I genital cause bleeding after sex. I didnt feel anything and I had sex and the next morning I went to wipe and saw a light spotting of blood. I am also getting my period on monday..in 3 days. Could that be the reason or is it the HSV I ?
