I am on day 13 from quitting Percocet - CT. I have ALMOST returned to normal but I cannot sleep. I feel sleepy, go to bed only to have arm pain and twitching legs. I am totally exhausted - most nights consist of 2-3 hours at the most and that's after getting up a bazillion times and going back to bed. Usually it's 3 or 4 a.m. or later when I finally fall asleep for a few hours. Can anyone offer an opinion or suggestion? Please???
ve made a terrible mistake in taking Ambien, Valium or Xanax to help me sleep. I was prescribed Valium 30 years ago for jumpy legs at night and they helped. I stopped taking the Valium and relied on 1 or half of 1 Perc to help me sleep. Ambien does nothing for me. Xanax seemed to help a little but nothing like the small dose of Perc. I started having nausea, no ambition, extremely tired for no reason, constipation and the general feeling of not wanting to do anything.
I would not get your hopes with the Ambien I had Ambien and valium I used both for a week and still lost allot of sleep. Sleep deprivation is part of the ride. With time sleep will come bit by bit. I still wake up earlier than I want but my sleep I get is good sleep. Give your body some time to heal it has been through allot with using. I think by this weekend you will feel much better. After day 4 it only gets better.
For all those on scheduled daily regimens of pretty powerful drugs- Percocet, Valium and NSAIDs, I would STRONGLY recommend talking to your doc about BUTRANS patches. It is much safer, very effective and they don't take away your other meds. The patch can be a hassle but if I run out of my ever percocet early (7.5s- but sometimes with the valium I lose track and/or sometimes just need more than they prescribe) the Butrans will alleviate the w/d from the percs and also manage the pain.
hello my name is tim ive been doing between 10 to 20 perk 5mg a day if i cant find perks i take vicodin ive been trying to quit for the longest i now have my mind really set on it , i quit about a year ago the withdrawls were so bad im scared to quit again but i have to can anyone give me some advice on anyway to make the withdrawls easier or if i should slowly get off or what i could do please help.
i am having a horrible tooth ache its my wisdom tooth it needs to be pulled but it cant be extracted until wednesday so this morning i took a vicodin 750 mg but i dnt have any left when the pain kicks back in can i take a percocet 10 mg and it want interact with the vic in my body thanx for your time

Like the above said, there is no reason to be ashamed, you had surgery..pain was involved. ANYONE taking opiates becomes physically dependant. Having the support of your family now would be key. Your wife holding the pills while you wean down..would be the best taper scenario. I was on oxycodone 15mg. 3 x's a day for 4 years and I if I can do it..so can you. (I didn't have family to help nor did I have to go to work through the w/d's) Everyone's different.

i do feel a little better i finally got a little sleep but it was with some help from valium i normally dont take them but i could not take the lack of sleep and my doctor and i have been struggling with that for about 15 years so i guess that i the next thing but i can only do one at a time.....but after talking to my brother and sister-in-law i am really determined to kick the habit and i think that i am going to do it for all the meds that i have been taking for years......

I do however love the fact that I can sleep, as I feel like it is the only peace that I can get. The rest of the day is a fight from this uneasy feeling that I carry around. It’s a feeling of not feeling like you. It’s maddening. I take 5mg of valium twice a day, but feel like it has worn off. I don’t like taking medicine, but if that little bit keeps me from going crazy so be it. I take other meds, but nothing else for anxiety or depression.
I was in a bad car accident 2 years ago and suffered cervical spine injuries and have chronic pain. I have been taking Percocets since June 2010. I I have such a serious problem with them and no body knows. I probably take up to 35-40 a day... Should I taper off or go cold turkey? The withdraw symptoms that are the most unbearable are the restless legs and the hot/cold. I don't even know what else I can expect??? I have quite a few Valiums, should I try to taper off and use those?
Hi. I take it you've not tried plain old paracetamol + ibuprofen to see of that'll help? If you have a history of addiction it's not 100% safe to have what can be an addictive med. However it MUST NOT be taken with alcohol so if you do take tramadol and it helps the pain and you don't drink then that's great. But if you slip up then you must stop and find another way for the pain.
On the other hand I have heard some people say that Hydrocodone gives them more energy and insomnia when they take it, so it really depends on how your body reacts to it. No two people are the same in that regard. I remember when I used to take Norco I never knew if I would get drowsy or hyper when I took it. It affected me different at different times. You really can't say for sure either way. Sorry, I know this does not help.
A drug test looks for more than narcotics, too. They tyopically look for benzos (Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax, Valium), cocaine, opiates (Vicodin, Percocet), and others. There are different kinds of drug tests. There's really no way to know until you take it.
