Can i take omeprazole with plavix

Common Questions and Answers about Can i take omeprazole with plavix

prilosec

Avatar m tn My heart rate and blood pressure would get too low if I took the Altace with the others. I take Metropolol, Isosorbide (Isordil), Norvasc, Tricor, and Nitro as needed, but stopped a few of the other drugs. As far as walking, it is still an effort for me to get started. I am so sleepy at times, but I know it is doing me a world of good. Did they mention doing a bypass? I have a stent in my RCA.
Avatar n tn Now I would only take aspirin if I felt that I was having another heart attack. The latest precaution about Plavix is to not take omeprazole with it (Prilosec, Prevacid or Nexium). Hope that helps, but you really need a cardiologist.
Avatar n tn I've followed this research, and from what I've learned the drug interaction of Plavix and PPI's (proton pump inhibitors) is not not that strong. I doubted the report from the start as I took Plavix and PPI's and my blood was as thin as tea, I bruised very, very easily, and the blood tests to determine my clotting factor wasn't changed by taking the two drugs.
Avatar n tn I was told there is no real evidence it reacts with clopidogrel (plavix) and if it does, the effect is tiny. My INR didn't change on this medication for 2 years. It would seem Aspirin is the culprit for causing my stomach issues, so I've been taken off aspirin and put back onto plavix for life.
Avatar n tn Sorry forgot to answer the actual question. I think Zantac is fine as long as your kidneys and liver are not diseased. However, it isn't as effective as a proton pump inhibitor. I would speak to your Doctor if heart burn is an issue because something like Omeprazole would be much more beneficial. I can also vouch that it doesn't reduce the effects of Clopidogrel or Lipitor.
Avatar n tn I wonder whether I can just take Sulfasalazine and avoid Naproxen (pain killer) and Omeprazole (acid reducer) if pain is within my endurance level. I really dont want to upset my stomach by flooding with drugs. By the way, can the disease damage any joints in the later years even though drugs are being taken to control it. What are the percentage of recovery or is there any case of having full recovery.
976897 tn?1379167602 Data clearly shows taking aspirin/plavix along with acid reflux medication is causing a higher death rate. The cause is unknown as yet. So, I would advise anyone due for angioplasty to discuss with their gp stopping any acid reflux meds currently being taken.
Avatar n tn You can also take antacids and Omeprazole if you have reflux. Since you are having bruising, it can become serious, and hence talk to your treating doctor about dose adjustment. Please consult your PCP for primary examination of mouth and treatment regarding stomatitis, deficiencies and reflux. Please do not self medicate. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn Angina symptoms have reoccured, but cardiologists will not tell me what I can do if I cannot take blood thinners (I have allergic reactions or bad reactions to almost all meds). I'm just told, "We'll cross that bridge when we get there." Not wanting to go through what I went through in May, 2007, I am very afraid of even taking a stress test for fear of what I procedures I may need. Please, any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I take plavix, lipitor, toprol-xl & diovan. Have been taking them for 2 1/2 years after stent implantation. Any ideas on how long you should be left on each of these..or are they classified as 'health maintenance'. No real side effects to speak of.
690060 tn?1247841741 Patients using clopidogrel should consult with their healthcare provider if they are currently taking or considering taking omeprazole, including Prilosec OTC" but then, there's also this: http://www.theheart.org/article/1025121.
Avatar f tn m concerned because everything I have read indicates I should take it indefinitely. Since I take Coumadin every day and have my IN/PTR tested regularly is is safe to stop taking plavix?
Avatar m tn I had 2 stents put in about 5 months ago and started on Plavix.. Since that time, I have had problems with chest pain and stomach pain, along with a host of other pains. I had a second cath to look at my heart because of the chest pain and the heart was said to be fine. Having a hard time sleeping at night and anxiety is building because of the pain. Anyone else have these issues? Also, is there a blood test that can be given to see if the Plavix even works for my gene make-up?
497348 tn?1283436066 I take Omeprazole first thing in the morning and was told to take nothing else for an hour. Are you taking them at the same time? If so, you may want to take them an hour apart. The Omeprazol, being an acid reducer, may have interfered with the absorption of the Celexa. This is just a guess as to why you had an attack though.
Avatar n tn Now, two years later my gastritis symptoms have come back (heartburn and nausea), and I read somewhere that I can take omeprazole AND ranitidine on the same day (but not the same time) so I've been taking the 20 mg Omeprazole in the am before breakfast and a 75mg ranitidine in the pm before dinner, which has worked quiet well.
Avatar m tn t done up front, or at least a test to check response - it was just by happpenstance I looked at the genetic test I had done for different reasons two years ago and it had a drug response section. if not for this I would still be on plavix with a much higher chance of problems.
Avatar m tn He prescribed omeprazole 40mg and I have not had any symptoms until this week. I want off the drug so I am watching what I eat, no late eating, losing weight, etc. It looks as if I will have to step up the pace a good bit. I am going to continue the omeprazole for a few months but was wondering if there is a particular optimum time to take the drug?
255163 tn?1376869746 The dr had me take them every other day for a month and then said to take them once a month for a week..I am down every day I take them..My bone scan was very bad this time from the plavix genetic..Hair loss joint pain I just want off of them..I hear about a very natureal blood thinnner , going to ask about that and go off of the plavix for good..It is called Nattokinase ..My health is not good and I am in so much pain on the plavix, joint pain and headaches and the list goes on and on.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Gastritis Jan 2018. I have lost over 30 pounds since I cant eat large meals and I cant eat a lot of foods. At this point everything upsets my stomach. I take extra strength Gas X all day. I was taking Omeprazole until I heard it was causing liver problems. NOW I don't know what to do. I went to GI doctor, I guess ill go back and spend more money I don't have. HELP!
Avatar f tn I had an MI in '05, and had a RCA stent placed. I was on plavix apox. 4 yrs because of family hx and my paranoia of another MI. I recently have been experiencing tingling and numbness in my hands upon awaking and have noticed small spider veins appearing on my thighs. I am a nurse on a MedSurg unit. I am concerned that my stent is becoming occulded. My doctor took me off plavix Jan'10 and kept me on 325 Aspirin.
Avatar n tn I keep forgetting to take my omeprazole dr 20 mg 30 minutes before meals, can I take it after the meal.
