I have been reading that minocycline can cause black thyroid in some people and can take up to a year to reverse after stopping medication. it is given to teenagers for acne and my son was on it for 6 mths twice a day having severe headaches yet the dr ignored it until I googled and realized that it could be effecting his thyroid and causing the headaches since those were listed as symptoms and wondered if anyone else ran into that.....his thyroid test did come back 4.6 with the top normal of 4.
For heart burn I'm 21 weeks can I drink a little bit of baking soda or take a rantidine?????
I would be careful taking Advil PM as it has an antihistamine in it and might make RLS worse. I mistakenly took Nyquil with an antihistamine in it and had the shakes real bad. So be cautious..

A few nights ago I drank a little too much—I woke up around 3am with what felt to be a UTI—like I needed to pee constantly and like I still needed to empty my bladder after I already had. I noticed that my urine did have traces of blood and what looked to be tiny blood clots. I have had an annoying pain in my abdomen but also believe im constipated and will be starting my period soon—so not sure if the pain has to do with either of those or the UTI or both.
I am in an area where there isnt a clinic for miles. And if there were i dont have insurance or a car.... I need help. I think I have the early symptoms. there has been a discomfort in my uthrethra and a more than normal urination and the tip of my penis is a little red. I have done extensive research on this and am aware that the best cure is surpax, but minocycline is also a stnthetic antibiotic. Thank you.

I am looking for any input or stories to share. I was prescribed minocycline for my acne on the 21st of December and started taking it that day, found out on the 27th of January that I am pregnant with my first baby and I am driving myself crazy with worry! Everything I've read is telling me that minocycline is extremely bad to take while pregnant or becoming pregnant.

3) If so, How long should I wait? I was off minocycline for approximately 23 days before I took the 21.5 week HIV test.

I got my kidney results today and my eGFR went from 56 back to 55. 60 is considered okay. The good news is the other one-off low number is back to normal (I think it was lab error), and my creatinine is still within range. But they're making me wait another week.

A few months ago I visited my doctor to discuss options for decreasing the amount of acne I have, for a few various reasons. We decided to use a topical cream, for the more oily areas on my face, and for me to take a 100mg dosage of Apo-Minocycline two times a day (morning and night). This worked fantastic for a few months. Eventually, I developed this odd rash on one side of my neck.
I was diagnosed with Lyme based on a positive Western Blot test and a Sunnybrook test that was indicative on the 93 band (I think that was the band) I am on Minocycline and was wondering if others out there were also on it and if it worked for them. I seem to be getting better. There are ups and downs but I am able to move much better than anytime in the past 7 and a half years. Just wondering how long one has to be on the drug and if it really makes you better.

It is my understanding that calcium can interfere with thyroid meds so I take calcium before I go to bed, added bonus it helps you sleep. Read a study about caffiene and whole grains interfering with absorption as well, so I wait an hour before I have coffee and I steer away from whole grains first thing in the morning.
Hi, I have what my Dr calls perioral dermatitis around my nose. I was prescribed a cream for it but not a steroid cream because I was pregnant at the time. This did not clear it up at all but seemed to keep it somewhat under control, however I was also using a steroid cream every so often as well. Now that I am not breastfeeding anymore I have been given a 90 day prescription for Gen Minocycline.

Hi. I have been on minocycline since I was 21 (now 29) for acne. I recently went to a new family practice Dr. While I was there he noticed I was on mino and asked how long I'd been taking it. I told him my acne treatment history. He pointed out that my shines were green (look like bruises). He asked how long I'd had those "bruises". I replyed that they'd been there longer then normal. Months maybe.
I have been on Zoloft for about 7 months now, after dealing with crippling anxiety and depression. this medicine really worked wonders! recently I was put on Minocycline for my chronic forehead and shoulder acne, and I was all for the idea of clear skin, whether I had to take pills or not. ever since, slowly but surely, my anxiety is making a reappearance, along with my depression, both of which I thought were long gone.
That lead to having to take four weeks of minocycline. I now will have spontaneous eruptions of a red itchy rash with small raised bumps mostly on my torso or arms. My dermatologist did test for scabies twice and it was negative. He also preformed a bunch biopsy which showed and allergic reaction to either food, medication or arthropods.
