1300526 tn?1275771621 The bottle from the pharmacy says take two twice a day, no one seems to really care how I take em when I ask about this. Sometimes I seem to get metformin that are coated and sometimes they are not, have bin given three or four different brands over time and seems to be whats on the menu when I order my prescription, who knows what brand it will be next. What is better?
535460 tn?1213418378 hi again, i didnt realize that you have pcos but anyways im trying to get pregnant also and my dr gave me metformin 1500mg a day and for my understanding it helps balance out your hormone so that you can start having regulated periods and once that happens you'll start to ovulate but some women take metformin along with clomid i haven't started that yet i want to see if i can get pregnant with out the clomid i've only been on metformin for a month now ,but if your dr perscribe it f
643854 tn?1223590867 Clomid helps with ovulation, but for me I was taking metformin for about 6mo. and I had to take provera to start my period and I had clomid left over and I took the clomid on day 3 of my cycle on Aug08 and Sept08 found out I was pregnant now I'm 8wks, but some times clomid doesnt work for everyone with pcos because I was using clomid before the metformin and it didnt work at all for me.So just remember if it doesnt work right away keep trying and dont give up.
1559168 tn?1294731785 I was told recently that i have pcos, I have not had a period for 2 years and right now i am on provera 10mg a day for 10 days i will take day 7 in a few hours, i also have to start metformin today that are 500 mg 2 times a day... I want to get pregnant and need someone to talk to about all this! My dr.
Avatar f tn You keep taking it until week 12! Pcos is also a cause for low to no milk supply. As hard as I tried I couldn't breastfeed. I was reading that metformin can help with your supply, so with this one I will start as soon as baby is delivered!
1897345 tn?1374265855 Yes I have PCOS and ttc. I take metformin. I know they can give you provera to start a period. I would continue to see my on or a re. Your going to have to be monitored if your periods are not coming and they have to prescribe something for you. Good luck ttc!
393893 tn?1283551230 I have been on it only a week now but my body is doing weird things and it is a bit unsettling. At first I thought what I was experiencing was normal but I was researching metformin on line and it said if you have any of these certain symptoms to get emergency medical attention right away because it can be life threatning. It named off many side effects that were normal and were not normal. I had both.
Avatar f tn You can start taking it today if you have it already...and continue taking it everyday! It's not just a fertility drug.. You most likely have an insulin resistance (pcos?) and it will help with that!
Avatar f tn For heart burn I'm 21 weeks can I drink a little bit of baking soda or take a rantidine?????
Avatar n tn I took it for 3 weeks and got my period. I also got sick everyday. Is there anything else I can take besides Metformin. My DH would like to have children but not right now. He is in the military and currently deployed. I just want to get my period. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I would be careful taking Advil PM as it has an antihistamine in it and might make RLS worse. I mistakenly took Nyquil with an antihistamine in it and had the shakes real bad. So be cautious..
Avatar f tn 20Days to go can't wait
Avatar n tn s about the time length when I noticed the difference. Not everyone is the same and it can take longer for others.
Avatar m tn even if i was drunk and i have diabetes and take all that medication for diabetes and depression and heartburn do you still think i will be ok, just double checking
801413 tn?1333539276 Metformin can take up to a year to regulate your periods. And if you were pregnant, you would not be having a period at all (except for abnormal bleeding). Have you lost any weight with being on metformin?
Avatar n tn also was wondering, i read online that milk thisle is suppose to help protect ur liver, but my specialist told me that it's useless. I'm still taking it but was wondering is it worth the money i spend?
Avatar f tn To lessen the occurrence of diarrhea take Metformin with food. If it continues ask your doctor to lower your dose. If the lower does does nothing then ask your doctor to switch to one of the other oral glucose medications. A type 2 diabetic should not eat "regular" ice cream as it contains lots of sugar and will raise your glucose levels. You need to read and pay attention to ingredient labels on packages and canned foods.
325405 tn?1262290178 t have the money to spend on Weight Watchers anymore, and I did stick to that diet fanatically but I really did need my metformin. I think part of why I weight gained was I was on and off prednizone the last couple years. I am goign to refuse to take it anymore, unless absolutely necessary. I have an autoimmune disease, so sometimes it is necessary unfortunately.
Avatar n tn I was recently told I needed to take invokana mixed with metformin and insulin. I had not been taking my metformin like I should so my readings were a bit high. But now that I'm regularly taking my meds, I'd like to know who is also and what keeps them within range. Avg bs 170s.
Avatar f tn Yes you can concieve with pcos. I have pcos and have been pregnant several times. Hopefully clomid will do the trick for you. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm in a similar situation I think I had implantation bleeding on may 26-27. I have yet to take a test b/c I'm not sure if it was ib it could have just been break through bleeding for me. which I've never had or it could be from the meds I take 1500mg of metformin and 2.5mg femara on cd 3-7. My advice to you is wait for your missed period I think you tested to early. I know it's hard to do but if you had implantaion bleeding then more than likely AF will not turn up.
Avatar n tn I am on Actos to help with this disorder and I have also tried Metformin which did nothing. My periods will last anywhere from 7-30 days. I am wondering which fertility drug might be worth trying?
550035 tn?1263160204 I would suggest when taking the metformin to take it with a meal. Hopefully that will make you not as nauseas. It does take your body a while to get used to the medication.
Avatar m tn You can take regular workout so you don't have any problem in your life.you can take a healthy food for your good health.
Avatar m tn I think that there has been a lot of discussion about Metformin and IR (that you might have missed) so people may have skipped over this post. Check out CoWriter's journal entries that have a ton of links. I did find this on The Liver Meeting ePoster series: 805.
Avatar f tn Why am I suppose to take metformin at night? What should I expect for couple days? I found out I have pcos a week ago. N scared n confused! I don't understand it all. I'm shocked I guess u could say. But will I bleed at night?
