5 kgs , doctor now has prescribed metamorfin 500 mg saying its a sensitizer only for 3 months along with omega 3 ( Is this needed and ok to take ? or should i revert back to diet and excercise to reverse it or is it too risky and are there chances it will go to diabetic stage if i dont take metamorfin - can some one clarify?

The bottle from the pharmacy says take two twice a day, no one seems to really care how I take em when I ask about this. Sometimes I seem to get metformin that are coated and sometimes they are not, have bin given three or four different brands over time and seems to be whats on the menu when I order my prescription, who knows what brand it will be next. What is better?

hi again, i didnt realize that you have pcos but anyways im trying to get pregnant also and my dr gave me metformin 1500mg a day and for my understanding it helps balance out your hormone so that you can start having regulated periods and once that happens you'll start to ovulate but some women take metformin along with clomid i haven't started that yet i want to see if i can get pregnant with out the clomid i've only been on metformin for a month now ,but if your dr perscribe it f

Clomid helps with ovulation, but for me I was taking metformin for about 6mo. and I had to take provera to start my period and I had clomid left over and I took the clomid on day 3 of my cycle on Aug08 and Sept08 found out I was pregnant now I'm 8wks, but some times clomid doesnt work for everyone with pcos because I was using clomid before the metformin and it didnt work at all for me.So just remember if it doesnt work right away keep trying and dont give up.

I was told recently that i have pcos, I have not had a period for 2 years and right now i am on provera 10mg a day for 10 days i will take day 7 in a few hours, i also have to start metformin today that are 500 mg 2 times a day... You keep taking it until week 12! Pcos is also a cause for low to no milk supply. As hard as I tried I couldn't breastfeed. I was reading that metformin can help with your supply, so with this one I will start as soon as baby is delivered!

Yes I have PCOS and ttc. I take metformin. I know they can give you provera to start a period. I would continue to see my on or a re. Your going to have to be monitored if your periods are not coming and they have to prescribe something for you. Good luck ttc!

I have been on it only a week now but my body is doing weird things and it is a bit unsettling. At first I thought what I was experiencing was normal but I was researching metformin on line and it said if you have any of these certain symptoms to get emergency medical attention right away because it can be life threatning. It named off many side effects that were normal and were not normal. I had both.

You can start taking it today if you have it already...and continue taking it everyday! It's not just a fertility drug.. You most likely have an insulin resistance (pcos?) and it will help with that!

I would be careful taking Advil PM as it has an antihistamine in it and might make RLS worse. I mistakenly took Nyquil with an antihistamine in it and had the shakes real bad. So be cautious..

Metformin can take up to a year to regulate your periods. And if you were pregnant, you would not be having a period at all (except for abnormal bleeding). Have you lost any weight with being on metformin?

To lessen the occurrence of diarrhea take Metformin with food. If it continues ask your doctor to lower your dose. If the lower does does nothing then ask your doctor to switch to one of the other oral glucose medications. t have the money to spend on Weight Watchers anymore, and I did stick to that diet fanatically but I really did need my metformin. I think part of why I weight gained was I was on and off prednizone the last couple years. I am goign to refuse to take it anymore, unless absolutely necessary. Hi, I'm in a similar situation I think I had implantation bleeding on may 26-27. I have yet to take a test b/c I'm not sure if it was ib it could have just been break through bleeding for me. which I've never had or it could be from the meds I take 1500mg of metformin and 2.5mg femara on cd 3-7. My advice to you is wait for your missed period I think you tested to early. I know it's hard to do but if you had implantaion bleeding then more than likely AF will not turn up.

I would suggest when taking the metformin to take it with a meal. Hopefully that will make you not as nauseas. It does take your body a while to get used to the medication.
