Avatar n tn can i take lunesta with a natural sleep aid that has melatonin, valerian root, passionflower, chamomile, hops extract and 5-HTP?
Avatar f tn t the heart pounding lying at the ceiling wakefulness I can have, but I was definitely not falling asleep. I took another Lunesta. I fell asleep fairly quickly, still woke up about 5 hours later, but was able to just rest in bed for a couple hours. Any thoughts, suggestions? I took Ambien generic last year when the anxiety & sleepliness first hit.
Avatar m tn I think the biggest side effect that you might have will be insomnia. I used to take Lunesta and when I stopped I didn't sleep for a week. On a positive note,,,COngrats on 20days!!!
Avatar m tn HI....sleep can be very elusive in early recovery it is usually the last thing to come back to normal there are many natural cures untill you try them you really dont know witch one will work best for you melatonin works for many just make sure the room is dark after you take it or it wont work vlarian root has helped many my favorite and I still use it for insomnia is the sleepytime tea ...
Avatar f tn I just don't know if I can hang in here. I started a second job and I can't keep focus at work when I only sleep 4hrs a night. I know I should be focused on my health but I'm a single mom and I also have my desable mother I need to care for. I'm just so tired all the time and feel like I might cave in any minute now if I don't get some good rest...
Avatar f tn You might try taking a combination of Valerian and Melatonin when you stop the Lunesta. I was taking Lunesta in my early withdrawals and it did make me sleep, but that nasty taste was to much for me. I must say I haven't really slept really well since, but the herbs I mention do help somewhat, I take a hot bath before bed then I take them. From what I've heard Lunesta withdrawals are mainly mental, but you can get addicted to just about anything.
Avatar m tn Hi weaver! I just got prescribed Lunesta! I have taken it for a few days now. For me, it's not really powerful! I am getting about 6 straight hours of sleep before waking up! That is much better than I was getting! My doctor offered me Ambien, but I've heard horror stories of people doing crazy things like driving while on it! Also, I don't seem to have any dreams, at least not that I can remember!
Avatar f tn I have Hashi's thyoiditis & am a nurse. Recently, i have been on night duty every other week. I am having to use Lunesta to hep me sleep during the day but would rather use something more natural- I was thinking of melatonin- there seems to be conflicting reports about it's effect with autoimmune diseases. I have been stable for a few years- has anyone with Hashi's actually used it?
Avatar n tn I am not sure how many milligrams of it i can take. I am currently taking 3mg every night with .5mg or Klonopin. Maybe I can take more melatonin?
Avatar m tn I have found that melatonin works pretty well for me. I have ones that are 10 mg and I take one about a half hour before bed. I also found one called Sleep made by Hylands and that works pretty well too! Our bodies get used to them though so they are not so good to take every night! Ambien and Lunesta are called "Z Drugs" and are very similar to benzos. They have the same WDs as benzos if taken for a period of time.
Avatar m tn can i take lunesta and zoloft and zyprexa together
Avatar m tn t slept more than 3 hrs in the last 10 nights, last night I took a lunesta with a couple of melatonin slept from 400 to about 530.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info on Trazodone; I didn't know it was an anti-depressant. I guess I will stick with the Melatonin and Ibuprofen PM. I'm sure ABN is right and we all have to give it time, but as addicts we want it all right NOW, lol.
Avatar n tn I"m sorry to hear you're having so much trouble with sleep. I can definitely relate - I, too, have severe fibro and the insomnia can be absolutely horrible. I also have severe pain with my fibro, so for me it's a vicious cycle quite often - I have more trouble sleeping because I am hurting and I hurt more becuase I'm not getting enough sleep. I currently take Ambien 10mg nightly for my sleep aid. There are some nights that it helps and others that it doesn't.
Avatar m tn I'm with you on the avoidance of drugs. However, I do think waking up in the middle of the night can become habit as it did for me after I was very briefly hyper (overmedicated). Isn't it annoying when you know what time it is BEFORE you look at the clock?! It was probably close to a year before I got back to a full night's sleep (most nights). So, I see his point about using the Ambien briefly to break the cycle.
Avatar m tn Thank you everyone for the advise! I am coming off Vicodin, but now I am not sure. I starting taking tramodol to ease the V. withdrawl. I stopped taking that and now I am not sure what is making me feel so terrible. I didn't take much of the Tramodol, but now I am hearing horror stories. I took Valerian root last night and that helped a bit. My biggest problem now is my mood and overall frustration with getting on with life as a normal human being.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I get the same thing once in a while, the dizzy spells on and off, but no special time of the day, they are not specific, the same thing with insomnia, it comes and goes, some nights I will sleep straight through like seven hours, and others I will only sleep 5 and thats with taking #3 Lunesta. I get the symptoms and I am taking meds, I just started on Armour a week ago, I have those same symptoms now, but I hope it is just the transition period.
Avatar m tn My doc prescribed Lunesta and I took that for the first time last night - slept for only 2 hours and woke in a hot sweat. That was it for the night. It seems that my stomach pains may be stress-related and that this may be the reason I'm waking up and can't get back to sleep. I'm having a difficult time making it through the day due to lack of sleep. Also feeling kind of foggy from the meds. Never had sleep issues before my trip.
519035 tn?1348275773 I agree with Bornsickie, I use melatonin, I also have R.L.S. which can drive my husband to sleep on the couch. good luck.
Avatar m tn 1.25 is a bit high of a dose to jump, but doable. I found lunesta worked one night, then I had to wait a few nights to take it again. I rotated lunesta, melatonin, and St, John's Wart to keep my tolerance of any one down. Nothing seemed to help for days 5-14 or so, just had to read all night and stretch a lot. I never liked Soma, so no advice on that, accept use them sparingly. Your brain and body can only detox on subs stance at a time, so if you take nothing you will heal faster.
Avatar f tn i need some help..i had been on ultram 50mg 6-7 tabs daily for 5 years...i started 2 weeks ago, cutting myself down, then last week really cut back and took my last one this past sunday evening...i am so miserable, i MAYBE sleep for 2 hours then am up and walking around trying to get my severe restless legs to settle, my arms even get the restless twitches/shock wave. i can't do this anymore. tonight has been the worst, i haven't slept at all...what the heck can i do?
736314 tn?1276884623 Sometimes my meds for sleep don't always work. I have to look at different factors though, did I have a stimulant (even chocolate) or carbs before bed. Did I have a super stressful day? Any hypomania? Did I eat too late in general? Too much sleep the night before. I know with the meds I'm on,( I take trazadone). I take it and hit the hay in 30min or less, if I'm in an active environment, even playing on the computer, it's keeping your brain active.
410475 tn?1262942367 Or Lunesta. Now for 3 days i am off of it and just taking melatonin 5 mg. and L-triptophan 2 or 3 of those. I have had 2 pretty good nights actually and am hopeful that it will get even better. All of those meds are habit forming, the sleeping ones and pain ones, all except the benadryl you mentioned. While you get leveled out and off of all the other you will probably have some sleepless nights but it will get better. So, i encourage you to cut back and go to these more natural things.
Avatar m tn I am actually being tapered from Risperidone and Xanax by my Psychiatrist and am having sleep problems but I shall take Melatonin or Rozerem instead after consulting my Psychiatrist as I dont want go through another withdrawal syndrome.
327369 tn?1326119908 I have some xanex that helps sometimes and I have tried melatonin but nothing is great at helping me. I do not like lunesta or ambien because of side effects. Oh well....just wondering about others out there and how you handle it. Being awake when everyone else is asleep in the house depresses me!
Avatar n tn I have tried taking melatonin time release. I have took 2 5mg at night with no help. I want something safe that I will only be taking for 5-7 days at night so I can sleep with the withdrawals. I have learned that Lunesta is not a good option due to the side effects. Thanks Susan.
