Avatar n tn I am currently taking levothyroxine, and was wondering if its ok to have my morning coffee with real cream? The first thing I do in the mornings is take my levothyroxine, and then have my coffee.. I always wait 30 minutes or so before having my breakfast.. I have received many different answers to my questions.. Can someone help me?
Avatar f tn Since I get up in the middle of the night anyway, I take my Levothyroxine then with a cup of water. That way when I wake up I can have my coffee right away.
Avatar f tn And I like a small amount of milk in my morning tea, so last week I decided to try and shift T4 to night time and take T3 in the morning since it can be taken with food. I also take it sublingually. I've found myself sleeping better and having more intense dreams since switching. Anyway, I was glad to read this clinical study this morning and thought I'd share. Would love to know if anyone else has followed this protocol and how they experienced the results. All the best to everyone.
Avatar m tn Hello Guys My name is Kevin. I have genetic thyroid problem from my parents. However, it's under control because i'm taking my medications. I'm taking Euthyrox 50 daily. Doctor asked me to take this tablet daily n empty stomach.. recently only i got to know from another doctor that i shouldn't be taking and dairy products / milk before or after 2 hours from taking this tablet.. 1) Can anyone explain why is that?
Avatar f tn m very consistent about both the meds and the coffee. I take my T4 with water, followed very closely by my first sip of coffee. My endo agrees with me that it's not an issue When I started meds, I dropped about 25 pounds without trying. I was overmedicated at first, so that might have helped. This increase might not do it, but you will eventually be able to lose weight...you might still have to put some effort into it.
Avatar m tn m a coffee person - I like to take black coffee (without milk/cream etc). So if I take a cup of black coffee after 1 hour, will it affect my medi absorption? if it does, what about just tea without milk/cream? there are several online articles talking about pros and cons but i'd like to know about real life experience.
Avatar f tn I started on levothyroxine 50mcg two days ago. I can see that there is a lot of different advice about when the best time to take it is. I'm treated in the uk under my gp and wasn't given any advice, the packets label says in the morning. I have porridge made with milk and coffee every morning for breakfast before I go to work. Will this affect the absorption of my meds? I've seen some people take it at night but I tend to eat quite late in the evening.
Avatar f tn 00 am, taking my Levoxyl, then going back to sleep for an hour or so is working fine. As soon as I get up, I take me T3 med (which can be taken with/without food), and by the time coffee is ready, I’ve had plenty of time for the med(s) to absorb. You should be aware that most of us only absorb around 80% of T4 (some absorb less than 60%), no matter what we do, so you might have to find a doctor willing to accommodate.
1675985 tn?1323719076 Does anyone have an underactive thyroid that they take thyroxine for and if so do you continue to take during pregnancy? Also Vitamins, I take Glucosamine is that something I need to stop taking?
325224 tn?1342795914 I skipped the coffee this morning and I don't feel nearly as bad as I did, however, I do still feel a little revved up. I figure I will wait at least a week and see how I am feeling at that time and then bring my concerns to my doctor. Thanks for you help. Let me know if the lower dosage helps you out. I'm only at .05 right now, I'm not sure how much lower it goes.
6323845 tn?1381188828 I am 7 weeks pregnant and normally take excedrine for my migraines but I looked it up and it can cause a miscarriage what is something safe I can take or just something natural that would help?
8256587 tn?1399897506 Repeat thyroid test - why oh why am I experiencing hypothyroid symptoms AFTER I take the Levothyroxine? When I reported this to my previous doctor they have told me they will end my script for Levothyroxine since they are under the impression I get no ill effects without the medication! Are they right?
Avatar m tn I would say you should really hold off on the coffee for 30 minutes if at all possible-- though I know some people like Barb will say that some just can't wait! As long as you are consistent in what you do... it might affect your absorption somewhat to drink the coffee early, but if you have to, you have to. Personally, reaching the right dose of thyroid meds has supplanted the need for coffee for me! Your Free T3 was at 65% of range, so it looks like you are converting T4 to T3 properly.
Avatar m tn I take a throid pill every morning. Would glucosamine Chondrotin interfer with it?
Avatar n tn I have been taking Levothyroxine 25mg for almost 2 years. When I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism I didn't have any symptoms, and I have not noticed any change since I am taking Levothyroxine. I did a blood test and my THS, 3rd generation w/reflex to FT4 was 2.46. I am 35 years old. Do you think I could stop taking Levothyroxine and check the levels again in 3 months? or should I reduce the dosage little by little? It is any risk in stop this medication suddenly? Thank you!!!
Avatar m tn I just wait half an hour after my thyroid in the morning, before I have anything with calcium (e.g., cereal), but I may have juice or coffee while I wait. I've been on it for years and years this way, always fine.
Avatar n tn I love my coffee with liberal doses of milk and sugar. Since I have to lay off the calcium with the synthroid...I have nearly completely given up my coffee. Yes, life is a sadder existance without it....still looking for a good replacement.
Avatar n tn It is my understanding that calcium can interfere with thyroid meds so I take calcium before I go to bed, added bonus it helps you sleep. Read a study about caffiene and whole grains interfering with absorption as well, so I wait an hour before I have coffee and I steer away from whole grains first thing in the morning.
Avatar m tn s so wonderful to drink coffee again and eat whatever I want without fear of repercussions. I know I have to go back on it until I see an endocrinologist in a few weeks, but at least now I know why I've been suffering for three years with diarrhea. I've been reading about tirosint, which is a gelcap form of levothyroxine without fillers, gluten and lactose, which are in the tablet form. Has anyone tried triosint?
1063764 tn?1272821064 m not supposed to eat about an hour after I take it. However, I seem to have a problem with getting myself to take the medication when I wake up everyday, especially at the same time. So sometimes I will eat and than wait an hour or two and take it and not eat for another hour for it to absorb. I was wondering if this is still effective, or if what I'm doing is pointless?
Avatar m tn I take generic Levo for Hashimotos, but I read on Synthroid's website that walnuts are contradicted when taking their version. I called and talked to one of their doctors on the phone, but they couldn't answer why it is contradicted, or how long you should wait before taking meds and eating them. From what I get, it is because of the fiber content (?) of the walnuts. Again, I have never seen this on any Levo pamphlet, but found this interesting.
Avatar f tn ve been on Euthyrox (levothyroxine) for a couple of months, so my question is, can I take both medications at the same time, or do I have to take Levothyroxine first and wait a couple of hours before taking my Cipralex pill? Since I should take both meds in the morning, would it be too late to take Cipralex at 11 a.m. (I take my Levothyroxine at 7)?
Avatar f tn t for me either. I take a thermos of coffee to work every day. I need my coffee as a stimulant. When the nausea hit, I couldn't drink hardly any coffee but still needed that cup in the morning on a workday. I watch my urine colour to see if the coffee's diuretic effects are robbing me of too much water and compensate for that .. other than that, the coffee helps me to get myself going in the morning at work. It just does.
