Common Questions and Answers about Can i take imitrex and ibuprofen

imitrex

Avatar f tn I'm 6 weeks and having horrible headaches, back pain and cramping. I wanted to know what I can take and what works. I'm a little hesitant due to having a miscarriage and I just moved out of state and can't see a doctor until next week.
Avatar f tn But my neurologist prescribed both 10 mg of Amitriptyline and Imitrex. So I think it should be fine. You can ask a pharmacist or your doctor to make sure. But I am on both of those plus Trokendi XR and Clonazepam.
20841174 tn?1531305522 I take clonazempam for my vomiting at night it is a benzodiazepine, and then when I started getting the headaches I took imitrex. My neurologist said I can take 100mg. So I would ask a neurologist to see what they think is good for you. They tried other things on me too. So it is best to try the drugs with the least side effects. Have you been officially diagnosed by having an electroencephalogram (EEG)? Also, did you get a brain scan just to rule any problems like that out.
Avatar f tn Hiya Girls, does anyone know what sort of painkillers i can take, i keep getting bad headache and i would normally take ibuprofen for it, but i have heard thats not good for the baby
Avatar m tn I get migraines as well and although I do not take imitrex, I to take a triptan, which is what imitrex is. The triptan that I take is called zomig, and I take a nasal spray version. There are lots of triptans on the market and imitrex is one of the first, the generic name is called sumatriptan and it is what they will give you in the hospital, but by injecteion, if you ever go in for a migraine...
Avatar m tn He said your body knows you are going to take it. I used to take it almost daily and after I heard this (that combined with the cost) I went cold turkey for about two weeks. I had some rough days but the headaches I did have were contained with ice, laying down, dark room, etc. When it would get really bad I would take Benedryl to knock myself out and just go to bed. Sometimes at like 8 O' clock at night! Giving it up c/t was the best thing I ever did.
9584843 tn?1404686658 m to take the Topamax and ibuprofen everyday and the Imitrex only when I have and episode with headaches. So maybe this will help me out. But as everyone suggested keep a detailed log of all symptoms before and after you start any meds. That way you can show your doctors and they will be able to adjust or take you off it completely if its not benefitting you. Good luck on your journey!
Avatar f tn I got the flu at about 26 weeks. I'm now 32.5 weeks. I was allowed to take tylenol and I took robitutisum(sp) dm for cough. I Also got throat lozenges they helped. But once my fever got over 102 I was told to go to my normal dr. They ended up giving me tamaflu which I took for 5 days. Theres pros n cons with taking tamaflu. In my case it was a pro as my fever wouldn't go down with just tylenol. Keep fluids up. I'm A FTM too and baby and I are doing great.
Avatar f tn He gave me a a much milder drug to take when I get a migraine I forget the name. I went to him on Thursday and already had taken 3 of these pills. He also put me on topamax now when exactly does it start working? They gave me 8 nerve block injections in my neck and forhead where I get my migraines. I get severe pain in my neck!!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn I have a long history of migraines and so had to have a med I could take on treatment. I opted for Imitrex because it is okay with the Peg, Riba, and Incivek. Interestingly enough, I have not had any bad migraines on treatment but I think that is because I know most of the migraine triggers and have avoided them like the plague. Before treatment, I was taking Cafergot and a tiny dose of Tylenol # 3 when I got the migraines, which was not often these last few years.
Avatar n tn i had my wisdom tooth out 5 days ago and now my cheek is a bit swollen and still sure can i take amoxacillin?
1079216 tn?1258200805 Hi charmed6418, Thanks for joining! I have the same problem of sometimes thinking that my migraine is a different type of headache and then I will treat it with the wrong type of medication and the migraine just gets a whole lot worse!! My neurologist always says the same thing to me "it will be SO rare that any of your headaches will be something other than a migraine! always treat for a migraine!!!" but...
Avatar m tn I can relate to your pain. I know what it feels like to not have your headaches under control. Poor sleep is definitely a trigger for me as well. How many OTC meds do you take? If you take a lot of ibuprofen, excedrin migraine, etc. you can have what they call medication overuse headaches. They can be worse than the headache that you started out with in the first place.
Avatar f tn s experience with the imitrex has been - good or bad - and if they have any other tips of things I can try (non-medicinal) to reduce the pain, etc., of the migraines. Fortunately, (knock on wood), I haven't had a migraine since I saw my doc on thursday, so I haven't tried the imitrex yet. I'm always leary/hesitant about ANY new medication, so would definitely appreciate any advice about this med that anyone might have. Thanks so much!
1051752 tn?1253833456 Imitrex on the other hand is migraine medication and will stop a migraine. Advil is not migraine medication and can cause problems by making headaches worse. Imitrex is migraine medication that is specifically for migraine and it will stop a migraine. Most migraines do not come with aura. Take that into consideration when you get a headache that feels exactly like your regular migraine just without an aura. That means you are having a migraine. You don't need an aura to have a migraine.
Avatar f tn I always used ibuprofen prior to getting pregnant because Tylenol wasn't strong enough. However 2 rounds of 1000mg seems to get the job done. Haven't taken me than that in a day.
Avatar m tn I find that if I drink very strong coffee just as a migraine is coming on, I can abort it. Once it really takes hold it is too late for coffee. I also have identified certain triggers, one of which is having alcohol if I am overheated and feeling logy (such as on a hot summer day). Just staying in the hot sun without a hat can sometimes do it too.
2069693 tn?1331365365 I used to have migraines all the time for years and they never really found anything that worked or was wrong with me. I kind of grew out of the aging them as frequently as I did. Simetimes for me it's very difficult to tell what type of headache I'm having and it will take a few days before I actually wind up taking the right med to get rid of it. Like the above post mentions a muscle relaxer is a great idea, it's worked for me in the past.
Avatar f tn Did not help this time. Ibuprofen helps a little but not for long. I also have pain in ear and behind left eye. Please help if you can. I have no insurance and cant see a Doc. for something that is more than likely nothing.
1100598 tn?1413127426 If so, what else do you do besides take medication, such as take any fall precautions? I am supposed to see my Neurologist next month and wonder if I should ask for anything in particular? Thanks!
1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
1460967 tn?1512401138 Also the headache might be a good sign. I am not sure if you can take ibuprofen, but Tylenol is the safest. SSBD to you. Looks like it's your time. Good luck!
1056589 tn?1273747102 then that is a different story. Then, I think, you can safely take Imitrex. Neurologists are specialists who understand the brain and migraine headaches a bit better than the rest of us, so they usually know when it is safe to prescribe triptans and when it isn't safe to prescribe triptans.
Avatar f tn I have a pounding headache and cannot sleep. What medication can I take that is safe. I'm 17 weeks pregnant...
768044 tn?1294223436 s idea, because I asked him about Treximet and he told me I could just take my regular triptan and naproxen at the same time. Also, oh, I didn't put Treximet down as an option, I am so sorry!! It's so new that I completely forgot about it! Oops, umm... for anyone taking it just put Imitrex down I guess since that is the triptan in the medication. And then explain about it in the comments? I am really sorry about that!!! The thing I don't like about Zomig Nasal Spray is the taste...
