can i take advil with vicodin

When I run out before my next script, I have bad withdrawels. I wish I could take something stronger but I am afraid to ask my Dr. These drugs control your whole life. and I want to stop. Nothing helps, advil, aleve are like candy and do nothing for my pain. Am I alone?

i cant get them refilled for a few days yet... I took 2 Vicodin a while ago and I was wondering if its okay to take Advil pm as well I did Google it and nothing came up thats why I am here... but I think I'm going to skip on the Advil and just try to get to sleep myself..

Is is okay for me to take Advil for my muscle aches? I used to take Advil with the Vicodin to make high last longer. Does anyone has any opinions.

I would be careful taking Advil PM as it has an antihistamine in it and might make RLS worse. I mistakenly took Nyquil with an antihistamine in it and had the shakes real bad. So be cautious..

Ok so I'm going to try to reach out. I have been taking vicodin for 5 years but steadly for a year. I have a husband who recently discovered that my habit is there. Since he himself who went to rehab for the same thing. He is sober and told me he can't be with me if I don't stop. I haven't taken anything starting today and haven't had a whole of what you guys are discribing as withdraws. Other than moodiness but I'm always moody lol.

I would think the 4 advil would be ok for him, based on his weight, however, I would make sure he took them with food, as they can be very hard on the stomach. You may want to start off with 2 advil and see if they help, rather than giving him 4 all at once. It's also important to contact his doctor if this pain persists.

I take ibuprofen (advil, motrin, etc), but take it with food. It tends to upset my stomach too, but if I munch on something first, it's fine. Just my experience.

s okay rather than to just assume it is. I was so nervous I was going to take the advil she told me to take plus the vicodin which I take for my arthritis pain only when needed and my xanax which I also take only when needed for extreme anxiety. It does sound like a lot of medication for one procedure, and I guess I don't want to do anything dangerous when combining all of those drugs. Thanks for your input.

While I can appreciate not wanting to take narcotics I am also concerned with people thinking OCDs are safer.For short periods these are great but long term use not only causes liver damage but NSAIDs used long term(over 2 wks) can cause kidney damage. If you have pain and take narcotics as perscribed or less, the likelyhood of becoming dependent are between zero and nothing.A Dr. once told me that we are only trying to lessen my pain not eliminate-make it bearable.

I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that in Canada, you can buy weak formulations with codeine over the counter. Codeine is not the same as the narcotic ingredient in Vicodin. 8 mg of codeine is a rather weak dose, anyway.

I have taken Advil cold and sinus before and it works. As for the cough syrup i have used the Robitussin or Triaminic stuff. Ask the pharmacists about it too as they will help you.

Many women with endo are also gluten intolerant. I do that and I also take Oregon Wild Harvest Turmeric (I have tried four different brands and this is the only one that works.) (If you have liver problems or are on blood thinners then you cannot take it.) Also my sister has found that vicoproferan (vicadin with a combo of advil) is a great drug.

Applying ice and keeping your head elevated will also help immensely. You can keep the Vicodin until you see how you do with the post surgery pain, or if it's stressing you out just having them around, you could get rid of them. Let us know how your surgery goes, ok?

I am on day 3 of vicodin withdraws. I was on them for a little over a year. Soits been 3 days and I feel horrible and have all the normal symptoms. How much longer do I have, and what can I do to make myself get better faster??

I agree with Pooh, take Tylenol. I think most hepatologists recommend it for liver patients, up to 2000 mg per day. NSAIDs (including Advil, Motrin, aspirin, pretty much every OTC pain-killer other than Tylenol) are contraindicated if you have liver disease.

I started taking a lot of Tylenol(4g a day, but never more), sometimes mixed with Advil to curb my back pain. I then moved on to the doctor and go prescribed Vicodin. Next was the Percocet. I have never considered myself an addict to pain meds, for the most part I used them responsibly. As I type now I have been attending PT for the back pain and have been off any type of pain medication for 3-4 weeks. Anyway to get to my question.

Someone else may have a different experience with it, but I would recommend against it...advil can tear up your stomach and tylenol can tear up your liver, and when you combine them you're just making it that much harder for each system to process them easily. have you tried things like aleve? Naproxen sodium I have found to be a superior pain reliever as far as OTC medications (non prescription) go :-).

I was given vicodin and told I could alternate that with Advil. I took the vicodin only before bed and did ok with just the advil during the day. I would say just try the advil, it that doesn't cut it for you then the next time that you can take some meds take the percocet. By the third day I barely needed the advil anymore. uhmmm....I dont think the body "deals with it better".. I think anyone taking 25 or 30 vicodin a day is doing serious damage to thier body. And I was one of those people. I did it...and I can tell you first hand that it's horrible on your body. The body cannot handle or break down that much chemical at one time. Prolonged, heavy use like this can and will cause major, permanant damage to your liver and other organs.

Hi! Congratulations! Yes, it is safe to take Vicodin while pregnant. As with anything else during pregnancy however, the less the better. Take only the minimum dosage that alleviates the pain, and take it only when plain Tylenol and other methods haven't worked. One other thing about the combination of Vicodin and pregnancy is that it is a real set up for constipation! So watch out for that! Good luck!

Knowing that Flu like symptoms were a side effect, I did get a Flu shot in August, prior to tx. Today, right now, I really feel like I am fighting off a cold or Flu. Can I take something like Nyquil but without alcohol??? Thanks. Just took the day off sick yesterday, and don't want to be out tomorrow.

I guess I should have said Vicodin, not Norco. Of course, they are the same thing.......

so with the doxy and the 3 advil, i would not want to take anything else. it is a weird/awkward procedure but it is not much worse than having a longer than usual exam/pap smear. you'll feel better if you are coherent and can understand what they are doing. they explain along the way and tell you what looks good/is normal as they go.
