With this information I began reducing by taking my regular 10 mg every other day for 2 months then I cut it in half to 5 mg EVERYdayfor 2 mo's. then 5 mg every other day for 2 mo's. then 2.5 mg everyday for 2 mo's. n 2.5 mg. every other day for 2 mo.s. When I got to 2.5 mgs every other day it started to become a bit more difficult and I started to supplement with GABA, SAMe and folic acid.
I went back to my doctor monday morning and after doing a lot of google reasearch I told him I thought I was having withdrawl from zyprexa. I asked him to give me something to help me through the next few days. He told me he wanted me back on the zyprexa and gave me samples for the next month due to the cost of the medicine.
So I went back on zyprexa hoping it wouldl make me feel lilke my self again.

What is your chief complaint about the Prozac? Do you also have anxiety with your depression? I've been told that Prozac is quite energizing, so it can be challenging for those folks who have anxiety coupled with their depression.
Personally, I would never take Zyprexa. It's in the antipsychotic family, I believe. Have you read the side effects?

From what I have read, the lowest dosage of Xyprexa comes in 2.5 mg. so last night, I went back and cut the pill to 4 in lieu of 2 and took 1/4 before I went to sleep. Luckily, after 4 days of severe insomnia, I was able to get some sleep. I will probably continue to take the 1/4 and then 1/6 for the next few weeks before I get off it.
The doc.gave me pres. for Ambien for relief.( He did not want me to use Ambien because he thinks it's addictive.
I was wondering if anyone on this website is taking zyprexa for racing thoughts and irritability. I started taking it in December for these symptoms but I have put on weight taking this drug. I am not sure if it is the drug itself or if my appetite has increased. In anycase, I am really depressed about this and am thinking of switching medications or just getting off the zyprexa itself. I am also taking 20 mg. of lexapro and this has not caused a past weight gain. Please help!
I have taken Zyprexa 5mg for the last 11 years. It puts you in a state of moderate depression. I took SAM-e 400mg and went hypomanic I the cut out wheat grains.dairy and sugar from my diet and
no depression,no chronic fatige asthma allbut gone,motivation back,

I've had some suggestions to cut the pills in half, but I have capsules, not tablets and they cannot be cut in half.

If a person is having difficulty affording any medications in general they should explore health care coverage options such as Medicaid (or the Medicaid Buy in for Working People with Disabilities if applicable and in their state) and if they are not eligible for necessary coverage to have their psychiatrist apply for the Patient Assistance Program where the company could cover it (that was helpful for me with Seroquel when I was in between coverage options) but regardless the best way to cut c
Yes, my pill can be split in half. I don't have a pill spliter, so I am wondering if I can use a knife to cut it. I already cut it actually and it split right in half. My pill has a "divit" like a divider already so it cut very easily.

I have reduced my dose to 2.5 and in 5 weeks I hope to be Zyprexa free. Has anyone else experienced these problems and if so will I ever feel normal again post Zyprexa? I am still battling withdrawal effects while taking 2.5 but no where near as severe as they were when I was not taking any. I am fearful it is going to get worse again. When I stopped taking the medicine I endured 8 painful days and was devastated to hear that I needed to get it back in my system and wean down.
