can i cut pristiq in half

I would like to know what to expect because I tend to panic when I experience any changes in my health. I have also been suffering from allergies for a week and a half and wonder if this will have any effects on the switch.

I'm 4wks and I have not seen a doctor. I take Pristiq and afraid I can harm my baby this early. Does anyone have any info?

Well I was on celexa then switched to zoloft then switched to pristiq...all in a time frame of a year and half. I been taking the pristiq 3 weeks now went on it straight from zoloft. I was taking it for anxiety/panic. I did a good tapering plan I am doing it very slowly now. i tried doing it cold turkey and I thought my life was over. I spoke with the doctor and said ti was ok to do it that way. I just am so afraid whenever I stop to feel this way!

Tried to give me Seraquel but when I explained it made me horribly sick and unable to function he told me to just cut it in half and try that. I want to see if anyone has had sucess with a medication. Tired of feeling like I can't make it anymore. Thanks everyone for taking time to read this.

I have called him twice, still no call back. I told myself at 30 days to cut the .5 in half in the am, and 1.5 mg of alprazolam at bed and after that nothing in the day, 1 mg at bed. After that lowering my alprazolam every 30 days by .25 leading to no drugs at all. Have you heard of anxiety patients having such a hard time with Pristiq and drugs like it?

Another person that might be able to help you with this is your pharmacist. Not so much as far as the tapering but they can tell you if these pills can be cut in half.

Just wondering if anyone has gone from Pristiq to Effexor. I am changing jobs and my new job doesn't cover Pristiq. I have been on it for 4 months and doing really really good on it. I am on 50 mg, and am sad that I will have to change meds. Effexor is available to me through my new job but I just don't know how similar they will be. let me know.

I have been on Pristiq for anxiety for 4 days and my Dr said to cut the pill in half bcus im so sensitive to meds. My question is that I looked on the Pristic website and it says it's for depression and im dealing with panic and agoraphobia. My question is will this help even tho its just for depression? I take iron and eat as well as I can but really have no appetite. Down 20 pounds in 10 weeks. I was over weight so this isn't a big problem yet.

I have been on 50 mg of pristiq for a year and a half...I am now on day 2 of 100mgs and find myself terribly anxious, trembling, feeling very bad compared to when I started 50 mgs...does anyone have any experience with upping this medicine?

Check with your psychiatrist and make sure. I've had hypertension since I was 40, scared me half to death. But I finally got in shape, lost almost 50 lbs., eat healthy, learned to not worry so much and my doctor feels I can go off my medication which I was only taking a 1/4 of for a year now. So, if yours isn't bad maybe some life style changes will help. Don't stress out over it, it's very controllable. Take care...

I went to my psychiatrist today and told him of my episode of missing effexor dose and he said that it was from the effexor, I was just 7 hours late and wound up in ER from symtoms listed in my first post. So he wants me to switch to pristiq, which I have never taken. I am supposed to start taking pristiq 50mg. along with effexor xr 75mg for a week and then effexor xr 37.5mg along with the pristiq for a week, and then just pristiq. I am afraid, seeing how just being off effexor for 7 hrs.

Yes, my pill can be split in half. I don't have a pill spliter, so I am wondering if I can use a knife to cut it. I already cut it actually and it split right in half. My pill has a "divit" like a divider already so it cut very easily.

Isn't Opana Time Released? I know you're the doctor, but I don't think you should inform people to cut their medications in half, ESPECIALLY if they're time released as this could cause a rapid release of all the medication in turn making her more sick, or am I wrong? I recently switched from Pristiq to Effexor XR in order to taper down. 50mg of Pristiq=150mg of Effexor. I found Pristiq did not cause as much low libido as Effexor has for me. I also didn't gain weight on it. Same might be true for Effexor for me (who knows?). I gained weight on Celexa and felt significantly more blunted emotionally by it.
